To lead us out, here’s some opening questions until we get ‘til draft time:

  1. Closing Argument: who should the Falcons take @ #27? Give your closing arguments on who the Falcons should pick and why?
  2. The buzz today is that the Birds maybe jockeying to get in the top 10 to grab AJ Green or Julio Jones, but they would have to give up 4-5 picks. Is it worth it?
  3. Which players will you be happy with if the Falcons call their name?
  4. Which players will you be angry with if the Birds call their name?

Here we go Cage Family……..Let’s Have Some Fun!!!!!!

I’m just sitting here wondering if TD would really move all the way up the board…

Just doesn’t seem like the Patriot way.

1. Brooks Reed – solves the pass rush rotation immediately and there is more depth at OLB, CB, and FS in later rounds. WR is heavy 2nd. TE heavy 2-3. OT, DT, ILB, etc, spread out elsewhere

2. No it is not. I believe this is a smokescreen to throw people off the Jernigan trail. Wait. What? They want a number 2? I smell a rat.

3. Kerrigan, Reed, Bowers (maybe), Costanzo

4. Gabe Carimi, Clayborn, Heyward, Rudolph, Sherrod, T. Smith. First three because of scheme fit. Last three because of value over later rounds.

The only positive thing that could come out of TD trading up is that we could go to bed before midnight. We’ll find out if it was/is a smokescreen/trick in a couple of hours.
As far as who I will be happy with? I was taught to eat whatever Mama put on the plate.

I’d like to see TD become more unpredictable on draft day, so a big trade up or down would keep the league guessing….

1. The best O-Lineman available if any are still there. Reason, it’s a need. 2. TD is always talking about drafting for the future, not trading it away. I love Green but I just don’t see it happening. 3 Pouncey (sp)

The Falcons have already won with the Panthers taking Cam Newton. Carolina is now irrelevant for the next few years!

Agreed. I know it’s the “hot” pick and it will sell tickets, but if it’s me I’m taking the best defensive player out there and shooting for Andrew Luck next year.

How many tickets did Clausen sell? haha. Love this pace. Falcons should draft in about 20 minutes! Please don’t take AJ

Well, the Falcons are screwed now with A.J. Green going to Cincy…there’s no hope….

Thank you Carolina for doing the right thing and picking the Camster….you’ll be a disaster team for the next four to five years…

Somewhere Aaron Rogers is smiling at his luck…..

I can’t believe what the Falcons gave up to get a WR.

Now we have two ugly WRs with dreadlocks who consistently drop the ball…but no LBs who can sack the QB or pass cover….geez, TD what were you thinkin’….oh, that’s right you weren’t.

Here’s the thing…

What have our 4th round picks been doing the past couple of seasons?

We just gave up a couple of developmental projects with those picks.

We gave up a 1st rounder next season for a immediate impact player this season.

Gotta try to put a spin to it.

Super Bowl Baby!!!!

Who cares what we’re giving up. Julio Jones gives us one of the best WR tandoms in the NFL, think of the Packers, Eagles, and now the FALCONS as the best WR’s in the league. Roddy White and now Julio Jones. Man that sounds dangerous. He’s going to immediately help the passing game. He can be that deep threat that we need. He will help the running game because he can block.

Who were we going to get at 27 that can make an impact like that.
Clayborn?
Heyward?
Ayers?

I love the trade.

Big Ray

I never liked the trade up price tag, but apparently what Matty Ice had to say after last year’s Pro Bowl and the desire to get “more explosive” throughout the offense was what we should have really been listening to.

Wow. Big price tag, but if White/Jones/Meier/Jenkins/Gonzalez/whoever are blowing up opposing defenses on the regular, then we won’t be complaining much. I think we might have to go defense in the 3rd round…

LRD

I understand the pick, not the price, and dangit we need DEFENSE
But this should be interesting training camp for the fight for #2 and the fight to keep on the roster.

Truth is, if we’re contenders this season as I’d think we’ll be, our 1st rounder next season is gonna be another late 1st rounder.

It’s all on Jones abilities truthfully. If this kid pans out, that price really doesn’t seem as bad when thinking twice about it. When you first look at it, it’s hefty. But when you factor in what our 4th rounders have been doing for us recently?

I’m willing to give TD the benefit of the doubt here. I still think it was a WR heavy draft. But we’ll see how we go with it. Truth is, we didn’t walk away from this worse. We still got a 3rd rounder.

I’m assuming TD will make a splash in FA for sure now. He’ll be gunning for a guy like Ray Edwards and possibly a corner.

Gotta believe the biggest influence on this decision, besides wanting to add more explosiveness to the offense, was that the team doesn’t need to add what… nine players to the team? Lose some draft picks that weren’t going to help this year or next and develop an offense that can score when you fall behind to a team that won’t be punting the entire game…
