Atlanta Falcons: Safety William Moore returned to practice on Saturday

FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons safety William Moore, who missed the final four games of the regular season with a hamstring injury, returned to practice on Saturday.
The Falcons went through their last bye week practice in the team’s indoor facility and Moore, one of the team’s top tacklers, was back in action.
He expects to be 100 percent when the Falcons, who have gone 0-3 in the playoffs under fifth-year coach Mike Smith, put their 13-3 record and No. 1 seed on the line in the divisional round of the playoffs at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Georgia Dome.
Smith believes the bye week was beneficial and the Falcons could end up being at full strength for their divisional playoff game.
“You get out of a routine, but the pro is that you get to rest guys,” Smith said. “We’re resting a number of guys this week in terms of their work load. They have not come out on the practice field. Some have taken a day off. We’ve been able to give guys rest.”
Moore, defensive end John Abraham (left ankle), cornerback Dunta Robinson (head) and cornerback Christopher Owens (hamstring) could all be ready by Sunday.
“Chris has been working on the side,” Smith said. “Again, we don’t have to talk about injuries, but he’s been working on the side. We’ll have to wait and see where he is. Probably of the guys, he’s not as far along as the other guys that we’ve been talking about.”

Doughnut you’re crazy. Owens is the fastest man on the field when he plays. His game has greatly improved under Nolan because they are no longer out of position or in the wrong base coverage. Falcons need all able bodies to play.

Well ill just say this, if what smith is saying is true and chris owens injury is the worst out of the injured guys, and hes working out on the sidelines. Then that right there should tell you abes injury isnt as bad as it looked. If what hes saying is true then he is just resting abe till gameday to make sure hes as healthy as possible. I figure Seattle wins tomorrow; if not, I prefer our chances at home against Washington. RGIII struggled to scramble against Dallas, so it’s not like his knee/quad will get perfect in a short week and then another week after that. And I’ll take Seattle, if need be. 3-5 on the road. Our O-line needs to step up for these next three games as does our run defense. He wasn’t a loser at age 22, he had the world at his feet. Could have been anything he wanted to be.
That playoff win in Green Bay was a gift. The Packers put it on the ground 3 times, losing possession all 3 times. Couple that with 2 Brett Favre INT’s and that sealed the win. HE only had 117 passing yards in the game but did run for 64 yards tying Warrick Dunn for the leading Falcons ground gainer. HE had been to Lambeau the year before as an observer, the Falcons won that game too with Chandler under center so he wasn’t unfamiliar with the frozen tundra. Yep, the Falcons (and HE) won that game. Good thing the Packers decided not to show up. Then we got our butts handed to us by the Eagles who then got their butts handed to them by the Bucs, who then in turn smoked the Oakland Raiders for the Lombardi.

I am not so sure that DLed wouldn’t lose his Falcons complex privileges if he started sharing info such as that. I’m surprised at the number of people that don’t understand the NFL written policy on reporting injuries. I may be wrong but I believe most coaches go by that policy to the letter.

Awesome catch in the end zone by Boldin. Looks like the Ravens defense has pulled one out for Flacco again. They make him look like a decent QB when actually he has one of the lowest QB ratings for playoff games of all QB’s.
Don’t know if everyone is aware but the Caints fans are jumping off the bandwagon left and right. The support for that team has all but disappeared completely. Actually many of them are now watching the Falcons and pulling for them to go to the Big Dance in Nawlins (there are a few of those bringing eggs but most of those are for Goodell). Why can’t ya get to the Big Dance. You know, The Lombardi. It’s in New Orleans this year but I doubt you will be there unless you go just to hang out with “Randall King” Ray. I’d say too many interceptions and very poor performance in the playoffs has a lot to do with it.
2009 you got past Miami and Tennessee then threw for a measly 141 yards and 3 interceptions giving the Steelers a trip to the Super Bowl. Miami gave you 5 turnovers and you had a passer rating of 59.1 …..WOW!! Against Tennessee you managed to get only 9 first downs…………..Tennessee gave you the game with 3 turnovers and you were lucky to hit that winning field goal. But here’s where it gets better. In the AFC Championship Game to go to the SUPER BOWL you managed an 18.2 Passer Rating to go along with those 3 int’s, one of those a pick 6 to Troy Polamalu in the fourth quarter.
2010 Here you managed against New England a 10.0 Passer Rating, 4 of 10, for 34 yards, no touchdowns and 1 interception, the lowest rated game for a “winning” quarterback in a playoff game EVER. New England gifted 4 turnovers to you along with the game.
Against the Colts you managed an incredible 48.4 Passer Rating, no touchdowns and 2 interceptions. A very comfortable 20-3 win for Indy as Baltimore committed four turnovers including your two interceptions. Good Bye Ravens in the 2010 playoffs.
2011 So the Ravens beat KC 30-7, a mediocre team at best in a mediocre division Kansas City giving up the ball 5 times. Against Pittsburgh Jan 15th, 2011 A 61.1 Passer Rating. What happened Joe, you had a 21-7 halftime lead and let this one get away 31-24, another Steelers victory. You managed “3″ second half first downs…………..what’s up with that…….???
Last year you beat Houston and had a 97.1 Passer Rating, 14 of 27, 176 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT not too bad Joe. You had some help from some Houston turnovers (TJ Yates threw 3 interceptions) on a short field. Only scoring 3 points in the 2nd half isn’t exactly championship caliber football but you got the “W” in spite of it. You got sacked 5 times by holding the ball and only managed 11 first downs the entire game. I’m really impressed Joe. Of course, then you followed this up with a loss to New England………….whoops out of the playoffs.
Joe, here is the thing. Your record is deceiving, you haven’t played very well, hence an incredibly low playoff QB passer rating and no shot at the Big Dance. You have lived on your Defense and that is the only reason why you have the playoff wins that you do. Your defense has forced 25 turnovers in 8 playoff games, Just for perspective no team since the Eagles in 1989 has forced 50 turnovers OVER A FULL SEASON. And frankly you have done little with those gifts.
In those same years the Atlanta Falcons have faced either the NFC Super Bowl representative or the eventual Super Bowl Champion……………we’ve had no chump playoff games on the schedule. Seattle is a scary team to be sure (they easily look better than most wild card teams and some division winners in any given year), but they’re going to be playing against a Falcons unit that has a lot to prove and knows it. Michael Turner is on his way out and for him this is a last shot at some personal vindication, Tony Gonzalez is probably retiring, and the consequences could be dire for many others including Mike Smith if the Falcons don’t get at least one playoff win this year. It could go either way, but I expect it to be a hard-fought, close contest regardless.
The best-case scenario for the Falcons is to jump out to an early (and if possible, significant) lead, because if the opposite happens I think it would really play into the hands of the Seahawks’ nasty D. Mike Smith and Matt Ryan aren’t going to throw anyone under the bus, but they both know that our running game is a huge liability; I just hope that the often detrimental “player loyalty factor” doesn’t rear its ugly head in a win-or-go-home game; if you see Turner getting a lot of lateral rushes (or simply getting stuffed as so often happens when going north and south), it could be a very long afternoon next Sunday. Ultimately, it’s going to have to be up to Matt Ryan and the receivers (as well as a Falcons defense which must really step up) to advance to the NFC championship game.
If this game was being played in Seattle, I’d have a very hard time believing the Falcons could realistically stand a chance to win, and even playing at home this one’s gonna be tough. Here’s hoping that Mike Smith has every one of them at least as well-prepared as they were for the Giants game.

Yeah, I’m a closet Packers fan, back to the first Super Bowl when I could still figure out what the Roman Numerals stood for. I went to Lambeau in the opening game of the 2002 season and rooted loudly (they were Dirty Birds then) for the Falcons (an overtime loss) and got into two scuffles, Can’t call them fights cause they weren’t, just a lot of pushing and shoving. But 2 Packers fans were exited from the stadium. I tell you this because I’m a die hard Falcons fan first. But if you were ever a little boy who played football this story should resonate with you, no matter the team affiliation.

Aaron Rodgers once thought he might have a locker at Candlestick Park. On the far side of the big locker room, where the 49ers’ quarterbacks dress.
Instead, it has taken almost eight years for him to arrive at the stadium that was featured in his boyhood dreams. On Saturday, in his first visit to Candlestick as a professional, Rodgers’ locker will be in the minuscule, dank visitors’ room, where his offensive linemen barely will have room to turn around.
Rodgers, for all his strange connections to the 49ers, has faced the team he grew up rooting for and had hoped would draft him only at Lambeau Field, in 2009, 2010 and again in September.
“Rodgers will be excited to go back to Cali to play,” Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy said Sunday. “He’s been through it enough now. I don’t see him overreacting or putting pressure on himself.”
He hasn’t been through it before, though. Rodgers, the best native Northern Californian quarterback in years, hasn’t played at either Candlestick Park or at the Coliseum. He hasn’t had a chance to play in front of family and friends who can make the drive from his hometown of Chico, or in front of the Cal boosters who supported him in college.
He gave a shout-out to the Chico Cheeseheads on Saturday night, urging them to make the I-5-to-505-to-80-to-101 drive. And, he’ll be excited. After all, he was raised on damp January playoff football at Candlestick.
“I dreamt about being the quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers,” Rodgers said in a documentary made the year he won the Super Bowl. “I used to draw little plays on note cards and dream I was Joe Montana throwing passes in the backyard with Dad.”
Of course, as we have rehashed constantly for more than seven years, the 49ers did not draft him. Mike Nolan chose Alex Smith over Rodgers, resulting in one of the longest, most agonizing waits in Draft Day Green Room history.
Rodgers ended up in a better spot. He didn’t have seven offensive coordinators in seven years. He didn’t have to watch his team pursue Peyton Manning months after he won his first playoff game. He didn’t lose his job to backup Graham Harrell. His team committed to him, he won a Super Bowl and an MVP award.
But if you think Rodgers isn’t still motivated by the draft-day snubbing, you’re probably wrong.
When he accepted the Most Valuable Player award in February, he noted that his childhood heroes were Montana, Jerry Rice and Steve Young. He added, “Big Niners fan as a kid – thanks for drafting me.”
And that’s with a Super Bowl ring on his hand.
“On the inside, there was a lot of disappointment, embarrassment, just thinking about how hard you worked,” Rodgers said of his draft-day slide. “But it was honestly the best thing that happened to me. I was 21 years old. I thought I was the best thing since sliced bread, and I needed a little humble pie.”
He got his humble pie – but the opinionated streak, the one that scared the suit pants off Nolan, – is still there. In recent months, Rodgers has been irritated by more than merely those snotty kids in the discount-double-check commercials. He has commented on the firing of Jeff Tedford, his college coach, which he thought was a mistake.
Rodgers also defended his friend Smith, with whom he has been bound through draft history, after Smith was benched.
“Alex and I are buddies,” Rodgers told the NFL Network’s “NFL Total Access.”
“He’s been through a lot. I can’t imagine to have to go through that many offensive coordinators. The turnover in coaches has been tough for him. …
“He’s 70 percent completion. He’s 100-plus quarterback rating last year. He’s like barely over 1 percent interception percentage. He’s a great quarterback. He just needs to go somewhere he gets appreciated for the skills he has and hopefully he gets a chance next year.”
Smith was 20-for-26 for 211 yards and two touchdowns against Green Bay in the 49ers’ 30-22 victory in the opening game of the season. Now, the Packers will face Colin Kaepernick, who grew up dreaming of being the Packers’ or the 49ers’ starting quarterback and idolized Rodgers’ predecessor, Brett Favre.
The 49ers surprised the Packers in September, when Kaepernick came into the game for a 17-yard run at the end of the first half that set up David Akers 63-yard field goal. They won’t surprise the Packers with WildKaep in this game.
It’s the sixth playoff meeting since 1996 between the two teams. Favre’s Packers had some memorable playoff wins over the 49ers, including knocking off the reigning champions at the Stick in January 1996 and ending George Seifert’s 49ers career in January 1997. The only time the 49ers beat the Packers was in January 1999 on Terrell Owens’ last-second touchdown catch in the wild-card game, which sent the 49ers to Atlanta for the divisional round.
These 49ers are different than the ones who beat the Packers in September. And the Packers are a different team, too. They’ve been playing like an angry, motivated team: If they hadn’t been robbed by replacement referees in September at Seattle, they would have been hosting this playoff game.
Rodgers has played well with a chip on his shoulder. This week, the placement of his locker will remind him only of what the 49ers once thought of him.

Truth: William Moore presents is needed on the field, Chris Hope is not good and he plays to far back like he is afraid to get beat by the wide receiver. The Atlanta Falcons are playing Russell Wilson in the warm Georgia Dome. Redskin did some good things on defensive, they miss some opportunities a interception in the Red Zone and a fumble recover by the RB Marshall Lynch. William Moore intercepts and tackles something Chris Hope doesn’t do, I am happy that William Moore is back I am hoping he get a turnover and interception and stop this rookie madness. Atlanta Falcons can win if they stay focus and they win the turnover battle early in the game. Atlanta Falcons have to make Seattle pay when they threw interceptions and fumble the football.
