Irvin and discussed the state of the wide receiver position in the NFL.

Here’s a link to that blog:

Michael Irvin, Hall of Fame playmaker, visited Flowery Branch last week and interviewed White and teammate Julio Jones. Irvin asked White if Atlanta’s duo is better than Cowboys wide receiver tandem Dez Bryant and Miles Austin.

“You serious?” White said, an appropriate response to that question.

Are they better than the Giants’ pair, Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz?

“We are a better group than them,” White said, a less obvious answer to that question. “I’m not taking shots at people. Victor Cruz is a lot more of a slot receiver. The big boys play on the outside.”

White and Julio Jones have combined for more catches and yards than Cruz and Nicks this season.

The two Falcons have 140 catches for 2,137 yards and 12 touchdowns. Cruz and Nicks, who has been slowed by a knee injury, have combined for 126 catches for 1,656 yards and 12 touchdowns.

“I’ve got to go with my guys,” running back Michael Turner said. “I can’t go with anybody else.”

Linebacker Sean Weatherspoon said, “Come on now, I’m taking my guys any day.”

Jones has 997 yards receiving and needs 3 for first career 1,000-yard season.

In the past 10 games at home, White has 69 catches for 1,075 yards (107.5 per game) and 7 touchdowns to go with seven 100-yard games.

Since 2007, Whie’s 548 receptions are the most in the NFC.

To answer That question, i say two things…. If everyones Healthy, Ild take the Giants pair. Why? Because they Always show up in big games, especially Nicks. all are big play receivers.. all are Elite type receivers.. but Like i said, The ginats Pair Show up when The giants Need them to. Nicks catches EVERYTHING thrown in his Direction…. Roddy, Not so much. Cruz and Julio are both always a heartbeat from going 65 yards for a TD. Ild take the NY pair.

There are some pretty good wide recievers in the league, who can beat you on any given Sunday.Being said that, I don’t care if the Giants or Falcons have the best recievers. I want the Falcons to win this game and a playoff game. It’s as plain as that…..

Aren’t:
Thomas and Decker have combined for 138 catches, 16 TDs and 1,987 yards in Denver…
Bryant and Austin are at 130, 14 receiving TDs, and 1,847 yards in Dallas… ?

Receivers are only as good as the offensive line. If the line doesn’t give your QB time to pass, then the WRs are not going to have a shot at catching a ball. So, comparing recievers is somewhat meaningless when taken out of context. Unfortunately, I don’t think the Giants are going to let Ryan have enough time for our receivers to run their routes. Hope not but that’s been how the previous seasons have ended up. We’ll see….

With receivers, the hands tell you a lot. Of these receivers, which ones have Super Bowl rings?

Case Closed.
