FLOWERY BRANCH — If the playoffs started today, the Falcons would be the top seed in the NFC.
That doesn’t sit well with NBC analyst Rodney Harrison.
During halftime of Sunday’s night game, host Dan Patrick asked him to pick the best team in the NFC. Harrison swung a haymaker at the Falcons.
“Atlanta is the No. 1 seed, but no one is afraid to play Atlanta,” Harrison said. “To me, the team to beat in the NFC is the New York Giants.”
And guess who’s coming to town Sunday?
“I don’t even care about the record,” Harrison said. “When the Giants (8-5) get into the playoffs, they have the experience and that pass rush. Eli (Manning) in the fourth quarter, that’s the team to beat.”
The Falcons, coming off Sunday’s discouraging 30-20 loss at Carolina, saw Harrison’s comments.
“It’s not disrespectful,” defensive end John Abraham said. “How we played last week, they should say stuff like that. When we put stuff like that out there on tape, they should say stuff like that.”
Safety Thomas DeCoud wasn’t bothered by the comment, even if it was dismissive of the NFC South champs.
“The man is entitled to his opinion,” DeCoud said. “He can say whatever he wants. He gets paid to say whatever he wants. We can’t be too tuned into that type of stuff because after a while, that type of stuff becomes a distraction.”
The Falcons watched the film of the Carolina game on Monday and said they were ready to move on from the embarrassing defeat to a team that had won just three games before Sunday. They are preparing for what could be a playoff preview when they face the Giants at the Georgia Dome.
“I think we’ll be OK,” Abraham said. “It was a butt-whipping. Call it what it is. They did a good job. They played a great game. We didn’t come to play like we’re supposed to come. So we are getting ready for the Giants right now. We have to get over the hump.”
Carolina nearly beat the Falcons earlier this season and were furious after losing in the final minute 30-28 on Sept. 30. The Panthers took verbal shots at the Falcons all last week and said they were the better team. They then backed it all up, jumping out to a 23-0 lead and then holding on for the victory.
“You hate to admit it,” running back Michael Turner said. “But when guys are talking smack and they come out with the W, it’s kind of like a double-whammy.”
The Falcons have tried to put the day behind them.
“We can’t keep worrying about things we can’t change,” Abraham said. “It’s in the record books. We’ll let that go. We can have something to do with the future right now, so we need to worry about that right now.”
The last time they met, the Falcons were eliminated from the playoffs by the Giants last season in the wild-card round. New York held a 7-2 halftime lead before pulling away to a 24-2 victory.
The Giants throttled the Saints 52-27 on Sunday.
Falcons coach Mike Smith started laying the groundwork for a turnaround, one of the team’s biggest challenges of the season.
“The message is real simple,” Smith said. “We didn’t play our best. We didn’t play up to our capabilities and up to our standard. We’ve got to get back in here, to the office, to get the corrections, and come out here on Wednesday and prepare for the New York Giants.”
Under Smith, the Falcons have never dropped back-to-back games with Ryan as the starting quarterback and one of the games was at home.
The Falcons have dropped back-to-back games with Ryan at the controls twice, but all of those games were on the road.
In 2009, Dallas beat them 37-21 on Oct. 25 at Cowboys Stadium followed by a 35-27 loss at New Orleans on Nov. 2. They also lost at Carolina 28-19 on Nov. 15 and at the New York Giants 34-31 in overtime on Nov. 22.
Overall, the Falcons have not dropped back-to-back games since Games 12 and 13 of the 2009 season. With Ryan out with a turf toe injury, they lost to Philadelphia (Dec. 6, 2009) and New Orleans (Dec. 13, 2009) with Chris Redman at the controls.
“(The Giants) are playing very good football right now,” Smith said. “The last two weeks, they’ve played outstanding football and it’s going to be a big challenge. They’re right in the middle of the playoff hunt.”

Let’s be honest. It’s not that the panthers PLAYED better, it’s that they ARE better. They’d whip us again if we played them next Sunday. They’re just one of several teams right now that are better than we are. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of our play was Ryan. His accuracy was poor, even when he wasn’t under pressure. I don’t know at this stage how you “fix” that.

The fans and Rodney Harrison are skeptical, I’ve been a Falcon Fan for many years and out side of the one Superbowl appearence, they’ve let me down time after time. I get it, divisional games are tough, but what I was looking for Sunday was effort and I didn’t see it. I’m more concern about a playoff win, than winning against the Giants. However, I want to see effort and mean spiritness when the New york comes to town.

Watch the Pats play and you see a team with confidence and savvy. Watch the Giants play and you see the same. Do you see that when we play? I hate to say it but as good as Smith is he is not a top tier coach. And our personnel doesn’t match up well with the big boys.

I have to agree with oldmike. The only thing separating us from the top tier teams is confidence. Maybe we can get that with a win over the Giants. It’s the kind of win that can propel a team to the Super Bowl.

The Falcons are capable of beating the better teams on any given day, they just can’t do it with consistency. They beat Denver and Washington amongst others. The naysayers will say Denver was early in the season when Manning was getting his sea legs back and with the Redskins RG3 didn’t play the entire game. Nevertheless, they won. The Carolina game was a wake up call for the Falcons and may put even more focus and urgency on the Giants game. If they roll the Giants they have a virtual lock on the first seed and will have confidence entering the playoffs. If they win, how about a few of you trash talking non fans coming back on the board and saying maybe you were wrong about Ryan and the team. If you can’t support your home team were they are tied for the best record in the NFL in week 14 @ 11-2, then you really aren’t a fan.

game may result in more of the same. You have

I am a diehard Falcon fan. However, I understand Rodney Harrison’s comments. The Falcons have had to use last minute scores to beat some of the weakest teams in the NFL like Arizona, Oakland, Tampa and Carolina (the first time). Great teams dominate the game from start to finish. The Falcons has not done that. My Falcons lack that killer instinct to put teams away. Therefore, no one is afraid to play Falcons. This could work to the Falcons advantage in the playoffs if teams overlook them.

They had nine days to prepare for a team that they barely got by the first time, a team with an unconventional quarterback. They only used four of those days. I know they are beat up and I know they are tired, but they can’t let up now.
Win or lose Sunday’s game will tell us a lot. I’m fully onboard with the Falcons, but I want to see a good game. This is the one the analysts have been pointing to.
BTW, the Giants didn’t have any kind of running game last year UNTIL they got into the playoffs.

We certainly need to be better prepared or it will wind up in our watch pocket. The Giants will be the real test on what we have to offer in the playoffs. Harrison only echo’s what everyone in football has been saying all year long. I am a real believer in Nolan’s ability to lead our defense and he needs to be on target. Goodness sakes our running game needs to wake up and stop acting like quick sand.

Even to a long-time fan, Sunday’s game was a bad loss. As several posters have stated, the Falcons appeared flat and basically out of sync. Whether that was due to the long wait from Thurs to the following Sunday, or just the deep breath that is naturally taken after winning the Division doesn’t matter, the fact is the Falcons were not ready to play. In a non-critical game I guess that’s ok, but they had better snap out of it for the G-men. Reading the players’ quotes I feel sure they see what we saw, and will address it and come back strong against NY. I still believe in my Falcons…it’s good they got that game out of their system before playing the Giants. I can’t help but believe they will be up for the game against the Giants, after the embarrassing loss last year. Either way, I still love my Falcons and will support them “come he#l or high water”.

“It’s not disrespectful,” defensive end John Abraham said. “How we played last week, they should say stuff like that. When we put stuff like that out there on tape, they should say stuff like that.”
There it is, and right on. I’ve been a Falcon fan from the beginning. I don’t jump on and off the band wagon, I will still support them at the end of this season, be it the first playoff game or the Superbowl. However, the team seems to lack consistency, especially in situations when they need it the most. When the D absoulutely needs that stop, somebody is out of position, don’t stay in their gap and their RB rips off a long run, or drops a reciever they consider out of the play and he goes on for a big catch or TD.
When the O needs to convert a first down, all of a sudden, the line can’t block and the running backs can’t hit the hole even if ther was one, or Matt can’t hit the broad side of a barn. Inconsistency! The team can make those plays, Matt can make those throws, I’ve seen them do it. I don’t know what’s wrong or how to fix it but I can tell you if they keep screwing around SF and the Giants are in their rearview mirror and have their foot on the gas. If they want the bye and homefield for the playoffs they better find out how to play consistent ball and stop teams, take the ball back and then do something with it. Simple as that.

Just my opinion, however if the fans are calling for the team to develop confidence within and a Killer instinct , then the fan base should practice what it preaches. Show the same confidence in the Falcons win or lose. Possess a killer instinct when critics, and non Falcon fans try to spin how good our team really is. It is time for the Falcons and there fans to Rise Up!! Like JA55 said, we cant change the past game, its in the record books or the past 3 post season flops, yet we can show faith, confidence, and strong support for our home team that they will change there fortunes. Good point by LDog about the FOUR! days off after the Thursday night game against New Orleans. It appears that Smitty tries to ingratiate himself to the players by a “permissive” approach – instead of coaching/exacting top performance out of them.
This same lackadaisical approach characterized Falcons’ preparation for the playoff game against Green Bay a couple of years back, when Smitty saw the bye week as an invitation for holiday relaxation. After all, his bulletin board indicated that Green Bay was just a minor bump in the road to the Super Bowl.
In such cases, focus, intensity & due diligence preparation are discarded – typically with ruinous consequences.
Bottom line: the Falcons need to do more than just show up for a game, though it is debatable whether they even did that against the Giants in the playoffs last year.

Mike Smith teams has looked the same over the years. They can’t tackle or defend the pass. Redskins use a rookie as a backup and falcons find a 1.8 rated qb to backup Ryan. Turner still running into his linemen and Ryan looking scared each game. Nothing will change and the Falcons will loose two games in a row for the first time. Maybe Smith should get out of his coordinators way because they look like the two we lost. It has to be Smith!

You all act like this is something new this year.
If youve been to a game and actually got to your seat before 1:15 (which accounts for about 30% of fans at the game)…if you watch warm ups….some of the guys dont even worry about warm ups. Its a dancing competition out there. #28, 25, 22, 56 ….. much more interested in the music and dancing than preparing for the next 3 hours.
OR Maybe they are just so confident that they dont need to be focused?
Mike Smith is not a discipline coach like you hear them talk about on TV. I dont care how many or how few penalties the team earns. That is only part. Lost to the Texans last year because players and coaches dont have the discipline to stay off the field. Lost to NO this year partly because players dont have the discipline to get off the field before celebrating…
Mike Smith needs to get a hold of his team and get these guys focused.
I will repeat my guess that 2013 is the year for the Falcons.

I, for one, cannot wait for the new outdoor stadium.
I pine for the cold weather and wet weather games where only actual fans will show up and where people who are there to read the newspaper (or that chemistry book I saw someone carry in a couple weeks ago) stay home.
A stadium where the food actually has to be made hot….(wonders if the health inspector knows they serve food at the dome outside of the club levels)
And maybe, just maybe the content on the video screen will have more to do with the game I am watching (and even other NFL games) instead of showing me that the offensive linemen are better at rapidly removing tissues from a box than they are at run blocking.

Ueediot @ 9:41, you speak the truth, my friend. And I agree about Mike Smith. Tired of seeing the same mistakes over and over. Like everyone else, tired of seeing a plodding MTurner type of offense when it’s obvious the team plays better without him on the field. Without MT33 we have a more dynamic offense with more options. Tired of Matt Ryan having to save the game for his coach, instead of his coach helping. Matt Ryan is better than most realize because he has to deal with a weak Oline and a mediocre coach, and until this year, no defense, yet he wins. Just how I see it.

I just hope Smitty isn’t being handcuffed by internal politics to keep Turner on the field. Otherwise, he (Smith) must be one blind or stubborn man to not see Turner provides no advantage being in the game. If we need to run the ball to keep the defense off balance and milk the clock, then for God sake run Rodgers, Snelling or Smith (or all of them by committee). Open up the offense and put Chase Coffman and Tony Gonzalez on the field at the same time with Julio and Roddy. Now that’s a look that no one has seen yet and look at the Patriots with their two TE scheme. It’s hard to stop.

In my opinion, the Falcons OLine is their biggest impediment, to being a really great team.
Their lack of a running game(which can be partly blames on the OLine) and inability to keep to put more pressure on the opposing QBs, doesn’t help them in regards to being a dominate team either.

So what if Rodney Harrison, Greg Rosenthal and a long list of analysts don’t believe in us? No team wins because people believe they will win, teams win when they play good ball on 3 phases of the game, and eventually win no matter if people believed in them or not (giants over pats on both SB) …
It’s hard to win against any team, let alone division rivals when you’re sleep walking for the first thirty minutes while the other team is playing tough. Like it or not, the team relaxed after winning the division and clinching the playoff berth. Hopefully they will remember this week the beating the giants gave us last year on the playoffs .. so we can return them the favor.

Harrison is right. In the NFL and what we saw on Monday Night New England and Houston Texan. Head Coach and his QB have to be cruel period. First play you have to go out playing hard scoring touchdowns not putting it in the hands of your kicker. Offensive Coordinator has to help Mike Nolan because Mike Nolan don’t have a Middle Linebacker to fight off block stopping the run or intercepts pass thrown to the Tight End. Mike Smith has start coaching now this is the playoffs right now. Matt Ryan got to be cruel like Tom Brady having no fear in the pocket throwing touchdowns. It start now, not next year, now. Hold on everyone–Harrison actually used to defend the Falcons vs. Tony Dungy on the NBC show earlier in the season (when ATL was 8-0 etc.). I think he’s being fair in his assessment now, but to say he was “never a fan” is simply not true if you’ve been watching all year. He definitely spoke up for Atlanta in past weeks.

Like it or not Rodney is correct! No team in the NFL fears Atlanta. The reason why is because after thirteen games played we still cannot run the ball effectively on offense and we still have not stopped the run or tackled well on defense.
I heard Steve Young 49ers Hall of Fame QB say recently after the Ravens fired their Offensive Coordinator, that the Head Coach and the QB of the team are responsible for offensive consistency. For the past four games, the Falcons have looked lethargic on offense. I ask all Falcons fans, who in this organization is responsible for what we saw last Sunday? Is Steve Young right or wrong? Where is the accountability in the Falcons organization?

I love me some Falcons football and what I do not see is that killer instinct that dominant teams have.Every week I hope that this will be the week that it comes thru, but I will not give up on My Birds regardless of what a bunch of ex-jocks have to say.If we continue to win or win big against a tough opponent they will have to give us respect,.so Falcons fans don’t give up this beats our old losing ways by far.

I’m a Falcon’s Fan, but the truth does hurt. The Falcons make weak teams look good. They don’t have “killer instinct.” If we get a lead on a team – all we want to do is run out the clock. This mentality starts with the coaching staff. We’re scared to keep the foot on the gas – in a league where you never know if you have enough points. After 13 games, The Falcons still haven’t figured out how to use their offensive weapons. This dink and donk passing game will get you blown out in the playoffs. They better figure out quick – how to throw the ball vertical more. I.e. – 3rd down and 12 against Carolina in the 4th quarter – Ryan drops back and completes a pass short of the line of scrimmage, where the receiver is tackled immediately? Throw the ball down-field!!!! Those little passes to the sideline and out in the flat – teams will give that to you all day long…as long as they keep you out the end zone. Teams have figured out that all you have to do is put pressure on Ryan, and it’s over for the offense. He can’t move at all. It’s like having a quarterback with his pants down around his knees- he can’t get away.

I know it’s all talk and everyone has their own opinion, but it’s unbelieveable that the Falcons have some much doubt surrounding them. I mean here sits a team that’s 11-2 and everyone(the lame tv personalities included) is saying this team has no chance at all to win. Forget the last couple of years because that’s the past. I truly believe that we are going to win a playoff game and then some because everyone says we aren’t. If I were an Atlanta Falcons player I’d be so pissed and so fired up! Not because of what people are saying, but for pride and my team. Also, just so when I raise that Lombardi I can tell all those tv personalities and bandwagon jumpers or nonbelievers to KISS MY ARSE!

I know this may sound counterintuitive, but I’d rather hear critics dismissing the Falcons and leveling these (justified) criticisms than singing their praises and hailing them as the NFC’s Superbowl representative. The playoffs aren’t about who had the best regular season record; they’re won by who’s the hottest and most motivated when that time comes. Being told you’re the “best” can easily set you up to believe your own press and not come prepared to play, but hearing lots of people say they doubt you can win in the playoffs…now THAT’S bulletin board material, and if I were Mike Smith I’d be reading each and every one of those comments to his players and challenging them to prove the criticisms wrong.
The Falcons just endured a humiliating loss that obviously has called attention to some things that sorely need addressing, and three weeks before the end of the regular season A) gives them time to focus on fixing those issues and B) hopefully get “hot” at exactly the right time. Considering the potential consequences of failure for all involved, there should be no shortage of fire evident against the Giants and from here on.

FOLKS: The bottom-line is “WIN”! This Falcons team is as good as any previous Falcons team in history of this franchise. Including the 1980 Bartkowski team & 1998-99 SB team. I’ve been a “true Falcon fan” since day ONE the beginning. I want to see this team play the best and win, starting this Sunday the G-men. They are coming to town with all personnel ready to go. This upcoming game is a statement game, if we win we will have made one statement towards being looked upon as an elite team. Plus we will probably lock-up 1st round bye with a win this Sunday. If I could have my way, I very much would like to see this Falcons team play and “WIN” any of the following playoff contenders Chi, Sea, GB or SF in their 1st playoff appearance & GB or SF in the NFC championship game. Then go on to the SB & play either Balt, Pits, NE or Hou for the Championship! Jus “WIN BABY WIN” —- So cut the crap, the smack talk, if they could’a or should’a would’a — let’s just play the “BEST CLUBS” — then we have earned the so called “DUE” respect if we “WIN”!

Trust me when I say everything starts with Ryan! Momma’s boy needs to cut the cord already and starts playing like a man. This past game at Carolina and most times, I see a dazed and confused look on his face. When the pocket starts to collapse a little, he starts peeing in his pants. I can’t understand it. When I look at other successful QBs, I don’t see that. Other successful QBs seem to have this confidence about them that Ryan lacks. Please Matt Ryan………cut the cord and start playing like the big, grown man that you are. I and most Falcons fans are tired of seeing the eight year-old girl in your performances!!!

First, forget what anyone else says and think about what you see. The Falcons lost to a team they should have dominated from start to finish. And, the worst part was the game was not even close. They were very ill-prepared and it showed. The loss to the Panthers is the reason why so many of the analysts and others don’t take the Falcons seriously. The Texans lost, big time to the Patriots. But it was to a perennial Super Bowl contender, not to a bad team. We cannot take this loss lightly.
If there is a must win game for this season, this is it. If the Birds lose this one, at home, they will lose the confidence of other teams, the fans and most likely themselves as to how well they will do in the playoffs. Ryan has not looked sharp the last few games and there were a couple of plays where is accuracy was not there. We have an opportunity to demonstrate that we belong in the company of top teams that have our kind of records on Sunday. It is the most important game this year. Don’t mess it up.

The Falcons can beat anyone. They can also lose to anyone. They have a good record and they should have a first round bye, and maybe home field advantage throughout the playoffs. That’s the goal of the regular season. Not to blow everyone out. Not to gain the accolades and praise of sports analysts. Believe in your abilities, win games, and ignore everything else. Let me tell you how good the Giants were last year. In the regular season, they were 9-7 and they beat one team with a winning record and lost to every other playoff caliber team. What a truly dominant performance. But does anyone look back and say, gosh those Giants really had a mediocre regular season in 2011? No. Because they won the Super Bowl so everyone has to shut the @#!% up. Playoffs are different. We don’t know how the Falcons will do this year in the Playoffs. Maybe they lose, but maybe they dominate. The Falcons are the authors of their destiny, the rest of us will have to read how this story ends.

As a Falcon fan for 40+ years and having watched the last 6 Falcons games, I see no indications that this team will be able to compete or even remotely win “ANY”of their 3 remaining games.
1.Our offensive line’s run blocking and pass protection are non existent
2.Michael Turner is shot and should be released outright, period end of subject
3. Anyone but Michael Turner should be running the damn ball
4. Pass protection has been spotty and unimpressive at best
5. No pass rushperiod and end of subject again. (Offensive line are bunch of stiffs)
6. Punt returner is a “Black Hole” Franks lacks ballz and skillz
7. MatT Bryant has not been accurate over the last 6 games
8. Matty Ice has take a beating and has displayed happy feet from the lack of pass protection
9. Questionable offensive playcalling (Wheres the short Nickel and Dime passing game) See#6
10. No emphasis on SCREEN PASSES( these slow down the pass rush) See #6
Guys I am just calling them as I see them. Unless there is a magical transformation during the next 3 games…….. I am afraid the Birds will be 1 and out again come playoffs. They needed to address the OFFENSIVE and DEFENSIVELINES in last 2 drafts and chose not to address the most obvious needs . I love Julio Jones but until we get some horses and studs on the O and D lines it won’t matter how how talented we are at the skill positions.
If anyone on this blog is paying attention then look back over the last 20 years and see which teams were successful in the playoffs. You will see that the ones that won in the playoffs were all loaded on the O and D lines. Falcons can’t Rush or even Disrupt the passer.
When any NFL starting quaterback has the time the Falcons give opposing quaterbacks, then we will continue to be Joke . And Arthur wants a NEW STADIUM WITH PSL’s ???………………. LEARN HOW TO WIN IN THE ONE YOU NOW HAVE. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE DOME OTHER THANTHE SMELL OF THE FALCONS MEDIOCRE PLAY.

He said that because it’s true. Any team would be happy to play the Falcons in the playoffs, because it’s pretty much a guaranteed win. The Falcons themselves know this. This is why the rest of the NFL can’t take them seriously.
The Falcons won 11 games because they are built in a way that makes them an outstanding matchup against bad teams. They dont make a lot of mistakes, they dont beat themselves, they are moderately efficient, and they get lucky more times than not.
But they aren’t a good football team. This is plain as day to anyone who follows football and has any sense at all. And when the Giants come in here Sunday and thump the birds by 20, is anyone going to be surprised? Of course not. Just like they wont be surprised when the Falcons get embarrassed in the first round of the playoffs. Again.
Blank should worry less about his shiny new stadium and more about the product he puts on the field. They are an embarrassment.

I find it hard to swallow how many on this blog are so blind to the fact that this Falcons Team has been exposed! And yeah I am a Falcons Fan…. but also a realist! Ely will have a HUGE day thanks to no pass rush form the D Line while he picks us apart. If we blitz it will be even uglier! Once that happens they run over us, thru us and around us. Their pass rush with our inability to establish any resemblance of a running attack, vwill overwhelm our O line and Matty Ice Pisses his pants(hell who can blame him, I sure I would do the same). And can anyone please humor me with the reason why Michael Turner is even still in the RB rotation? Check that…..STILL on the ROSTER?
Chances are that if this game is another A$$ whipping.. the consequences will be heads roll after the season.
Sad part is that after the G Men come the Detroit Lions, another juggernaut offense capable of scoring by the bucketfull. Then we close out against the Bucs who are well coached, but by a sociopath head coach and want nothing but revenge after their earlier loss.

Never thought I would be in the same corner as ANYONE who works at NBC. He is correct though as the Falcons have been very lucky and are way overrated. They are in the same boat with the Houston Texans. It will be one game and out for both the Falcons and the Texans. It’s an “Atlanta thang” with the Falcons, as was just proven by the Braves and the DAWGS. Such is life, just the way it is. Those who value your life should jump off the bandwagon now or you’re in for another big disappointment.

Our Falcons offensive better be ready for the Giant.
Mandingos that they are going to have deal with Sunday. They.didn’t upgrade on the line from the butt kicking they got last year. And I am angry because that same group of offensive.linemen. have not improved their pass and run blocking. Win or lose, we are going to have to overhaul this offensive line. They do not play Nasty nor with Intensity. OWe also need some speedy and powerful running backs. I am still not impressed with Wizz. On defense, we better get some Mandingos like the Giants who know how to play fast and Nasty. Our guys appear to plat too, too soft and unaggresive up front. It’s like they don’t like to hit. I know if I was getting.a fat check like they do, I would be hitting.everybody. invasion different color hereunder. Iwould be hitting them with joy knowing that we are in the run for the Super.Bowl..

Crazy how one horrible game can ruin a regular season…that debacle against Carolina just did that.
I have no expectations for the playoffs. If they win one, great, if they win two, I would be ecstatic, if they win three, it will be like winning the lottery.
Otherwise, a loss in the first game will not feel all that bad because there are no expectations…just hoping the players and coaches give it there all!

And, they have a history of losing in the first Rd of the playoffs. Its fair commentary, until they prove them wrong. I predict 2 loses of last 3 games and a first rd lose in the playoffs.

He’s correct….until the Falcons actually do something, record means nothing…..only rings and trophies. This team has a number of weeknesses.

A true number one team always comes ready to play. They should dominate most teams, but it is ok if they don’t, but they should always come ready to play. Falcons, Falcon fans until the team wins a game that really matters, credibility will always be questioned. The same came be said for the Texans. Over the past few years, the Texans seem to be a front runner. Based on what? Then, they will get some key injuries, and be out of the playoffs, and next year they will be front runners again. The same is happening to the Baltimore Ravens..At some point, you have to really win something.

I’m a huge Falcon fan, but the Panther debacle was preceded by close victories over mediocre opponents. The Falcons have become perennial playoff failures. They will never get wide spread respect till they win a game that really matters. They all know this. Last weekend they forgot to show up. I really wasn’t all that surprised. I felt they might be looking ahead to the rematch. Eli’s coming and he’s bringing giants with him. If the dirty birds don’t show up for this one home field won’t mean squat come playoff time.
By the way, please don’t wear the throwback uniforms this weekend. Those colors never ran, nor did they block or tackle so good.

Our o-line suxx. Simple as that. No running game (Turner has no explosive ability) and very weak pass protection (combined with a quarterback that is not a good mover in the pocket.) as much as Ryan is a top quarterback….he is not good in the pocket moving to avoid pressure. His weakest skill….and must work to fix that. The great pocket passers…Brady, Rogers, Breez, Eli, even Peyton….all move exceptionally inside the pocket. Matty has got to start moving his feet. He’s got some lead in those feet.

Here is what I see, I see Fault with Ryan. Yes Ryan……he is just sitting in the pocket can’t move or elect to run for a few yards. he just sit there in the collasping pocket and get sacked. Run dude, move a little bit extend the play help out the receiver’s. as far as Dunta Robinson goes he is always toast, he get burnt every week. He is a weak spot in our secondary! GRIMES will he be back for the playoff’s?

I do hope the Falcons are for real and show up with their Big Boy pants on this Sunday. If this past Sunday is indicative of how they will play the season out, then they will be identified simply as “pretenders” and not the real deal.

I’m really hoping the Falcons can put a beat down on the Giants Sunday to get the disgust of that lackluster performance out of my (and most likely their) mind. They need to act like they want it and pile on some points for once. These nailbiters have mostly come out as wins, but it’s time to make a statement nobody can argue with.

The Falcons need this win for themselves as much as for the fan base and the national media to get off of their backs. They have not looked very good for several weeks. If they can put it all together and beat the Giants, it will give their confidnce a boost heading into the play-offs.

I’ve followed the Falcons since I was a little boy love to watch them play but it is just something about them that just scares you to death. They can win in the regular season but hasn’t played any team with a winning record so what is going to happen when playoff time comes. Ryan is a good QB but he just can’t seem to lead the Falcons to the promised land. Coach Smith has brought stability to the team but I wonder if he’s the one to get us deep in the playoffs. I guess I need to just say I’m afraid it is going to be one and done in the playoffs but I sure hope not. Maybe Mr. Blank just needs to clean house if this happens

The paid media is a bias way of getting one personal point across. Thank God for social media the real sports commentators who actually sees and speak the truth. The Falcons are a force to be reckon with: the Falcons defense has shut down evey top name quarterback out there: Brees, Newton, and most of the paid media quarterbacks the Manning boys DOWN. Can I get a WHAT, WHAT! The Falcons can get laxed on you, but the talent is there and as long as this city keep rallying behind them; they are going to bring that bowl back from the Super Bowl. It is no one person who makes that team; it is the team itself.
