Will Curtis Lofton get booed on his return to the Georgia Dome?

Connections: Lofton set to make his Georgia Dome debut as a Saint

FLOWERY BRANCH — Former Falcons linebacker Curtis Lofton is set to make his debut as a visitor at the Georgia Dome.

“There’s going to be a lot of mixed emotions,” said Lofton, earlier this week said the Saints don’t view the game as a rivalry. “It’s going to be a weird feeling seeing all of the people, the security guards and ticket people. I was good friends with them, and it’ll be good to see them.”

Lofton wants to put on a show for the team that balked at re-signing him in free agency.

“I want to play great, but I’m not going to put more pressure on myself, put on a Superman cap and do this and do that,” Lofton said. “I’m going to play inside the system.”

Other connections include:

  • Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff was a scout for the Cleveland Browns while Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael was on the Browns’ staff in 2000.
  • Falcons special-teams coach Keith Armstrong coached with Saints assistant defensive line coach Travis Jones for the Miami Dolphins in 2007.
  • Saints defensive line coach Bill Johnson coached the defensive line for the Falcons from 2001-06.
  • Saints quarterbacks coach Joe Lombardi was a defensive assistant for the Falcons in 2006.
  • Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones and offensive guard Mike Johnson won a BCS championship with Saints running back Mark Ingram at Alabama in the 2009 season.
  • Falcons offensive guard Justin Blalock and Saints tight end David Thomas won a BCS title at Texas in the 2005 season.

You bet your a** he will by this former fan. Brings the work ‘punk’ to a whole new level. Any ribbing he got asking “hows that Super Bowl team working out for you?” was fully deserved. If you gonna go; just go. Don’t be trash talking on your way out the door.

Talk about rhetorical nonsense! It’s not as if any of the Saint s are going to be greeted with a warm ovation. The fal can’t fans are going to do nothing but boo, if they’re not throwing stuff at Saint s player to boot.

The Saint s need to make sure they are all wearing their helmets, including the coaching staff, when they go on and off the field, cause I know there will always be the low-life plucking dirty bird fans throwing stuff at them.

The thing with Lofton is he signed with the Caints to tick off Flowery Branch and it backfired on him.

Reprinted without permission:

Lofton’s asking price dropped quite a bit from where it started, somewhere above $8 million per season. Lofton also signed a deal that’s very-cap friendly for the Caints in the first year.

Lofton got a five-year deal that averages $5.5 million per season and could end up being worth as much as $33.5 million if he reaches escalators in the final three years of the deal. Lofton got a $5 million signing bonus, but his first-year cap figure will be a very friendly $1.7 million because his first-year base salary will be only $700,000.

This deal is back-loaded because Lofton is scheduled to get a $5 million roster bonus in 2013, when his base salary rises to $1.1 million. In 2014, Lofton’s base salary is only $1 million, but he’s scheduled for another $2 million roster bonus. In 2015, Lofton is scheduled to earn $2.4 million in base salary and collect yet another roster bonus for $4.5 million and a $100,000 workout bonus.

In 2016, Lofton’s base salary rises to $5.4 million and he’s scheduled to receive a $100,000 workout bonus. The final year of the deal (2017) is voidable and Lofton is scheduled to make $6 million in base salary.

Lofton’s biggest cap hits will come in 2013 ($7.1 million) and 2015 ($8 million).

I’m sure there may be a few…….It would really blow his mind if the Dome suddenly and very clearly quieted when Lofton enters……now that would shake some folks up!

Was the comment directed to you? Ledbetter knows what it meant, bet he got the “chuckle” intended out of it (for him)…

And be careful using intransitive verbs when you intending to “direct” an insult at someone… But hey, you a single projector for multiple trailers, kinda speaks volumes… Meanwhile, (in his reality) enjoy the crystal wireless!

Even though he is a Benedict Arnold, omelet his comments slide. When your LB career is over it ain’t easy to deal with–your thoughts get all scrambled each and every time you get poached by a crafty QB.

He is not worth booing. Never really cared for him when he was a Falcon. Too fat and slow for Nolan’s system.

Curtis Lofton in the picture up there looks like he is thinking……………….How in the world did I wind up here ? ? ?………………………..lmao

I hope the fans don’t take eggs into the stadium to throw at the Caints on the field…………..it could cause us to get penalties.

Rise up! Time to whup up on thise no-good nasty pesky Caints !

I loved Lofton. He was great defending the run–that’s it, defending the run. For the kind of money he was asking for he needed to be able to do more than just stuff the run.
