Atlanta Falcons: Samuel, Robinson, Jerry sit out practice

By Michael Cunningham

FLOWERY BRANCH–Falcons defensive tackle Peria Jerry (thigh) and cornerbacks Asante Samuel (shoulder) and Dunta Robinson (illness) did not participate in practice today.

Falcons coach Mike Smith said Samuel’s status could be in doubt until just before Thursday’s game against the Saints. Atlanta is scheduled to hold a 35-minute walk-through on Wednesday.

“We’re going to have to go up to game time to see where he’s at in making a decision on whether he’s going to be able to play or not,” Smith said.

“Everything is good and (I’m) just taking it day-by-day,” Samuel said.

Robinson was added to the injury report today. He left Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay with a head injury but later returned.

The Saints players who missed practice are tackle Charles Brown (knee), defensive end Junior Galette (ankle), defensive tackle Tom Johnson (back), safety Isa Abdul-Quddus (concussion) and wide receiver Courtney Roby (shoulder/ankle).

Jason Babon is 32 and is earning $5.575 million in fully guaranteed base salary and whoever claims Babin’s contract off waivers will be responsible for the $1,639,706 that remains on his 2012 salary. That team will also take on the three years and $16.65 million in non-guaranteed base salary that remains on Babin’s current contract, which also contains $2.025 million in base salary escalators.

No Chance…

Maybe Dimitrof and Co and will find a way to sign Babin. He’s got some great stats and you know he rather play for a Winner than play for the Saint or Denver.

Hmmm…Babin might be a nice pickup. Wonder if the numbers can work out for McKay and Dimitroff to give him an offer.

I think if TD can get babin to restructure his contract we could be looking at a nice pick up in atlanta, by the ways thanks for the link billyho55.

i agree find a way to sign Babin.. I would think you could restructure the contract and we need someone to replace Edwards next year. . Might be a huge piece to get us to the super bowl and would be good for us for a couple of years in the future.

It’s a no brainer, if Babin gets to us we’ve gotta take him, let him play out the year & if he’s lost a step, end the relationship after ther season. The #’s are down because Philly was always dow this year, thus more teams were running & less chances to sack the QB! But since we’re also either the last or next to last team on the wavier wire, it might be smart to let him clear waviers all together if he makes it down to us & then just do a straight up free agent pick up & not have to deal with his contract, even though it’s not that much different than what we gave Ray Edwards, so reasonable.

Hes comin to atlanta first i can almost guarantee if we let him walk out he will be signed somewhere else before he clears the waiver wire. And ill just be honest id rather see him in black and red come thursday than gold and black!!! Go falcons

@ old man: The game will be on the CW.

@EDOGG: I haven’t seen the ref info released. Usually happens on Wed. afternoon and not sure if that changes with Thurs. games.

Tell you what………Asante was playing injured in that Tampa Game so they need to let him have a break……………and let the next man up take the spot. We going to need Asante later on down the road so there is no reason to risk him being injured any further just to play the Caints who are toast anyway.

Atlanta will beat the Caints on Thursday night and pay em back for last year by finishing them on off this year…………………ha ! ha ! ha ! ha !

The Lowly Aint's

Seen & aint’s fans, you being here is ok, you’re constant portrayal of the aints being some sort of power house is quite laughable. Someone who foams at the mouth about particlular stats without acknowledgment of their teams history is just ignorant. The last few “wonder” years of the aint’s is all that’s there…….before that ……….nothing. The Falcons were winning division titles and appearing in playoff games waaaaay before the aint’s. I mean, come on 1966 to 2000 without a playoff win….dude thats horrible. Face it, the last few years for the aint’s is just a flash in the pan……soon to be over. You my friend are the delusional one, for sure…..read some books on your sorry team’s history. The way you sound on these boards is quite embarrassing and stupid. Hope you didn’t throw your paper bag away……

There’s a way to make the Babin money work IF there’s a will. Either TD is throwing out a smokescreen or Babin has some character issues like Edwards had. Saw him play Mon night so injuries can’t be part of the equation. Everybody that is bodyslamming TD just because SLed reported that the Coons aren’t inteerested need to cool their jets…do ya remember what shape we were in before TD arrived?? In TD/Smitty I STILL trust
