Falcons at Buccaneers: 3 key matchups

Falcons FS Thomas DeCoud vs. Bucs QB Josh Freeman: DeCoud leads the team with four interceptions, has 46 tackles and one sack. He must be on top of his game against Freeman, who utilizes his big receivers well. DeCoud also will have a role in run support and must not continue to miss open-field tackles. Freeman has been much more effective with a rushing attack. He has guided the Bucs to wins in five of their past six games and has rekindled their playoff hopes. He has thrown 16 touchdown passes in the past six games.

Falcons RCB Dunta Robinson vs. Bucs WR Vincent Jackson: Robinson has played well in coverage, but has been susceptible to square-in routes against the Bucs’ bigger receivers in the past. Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams are bigger players and will show up on Robinson’s side of the field. Jackson, who signed as a free agent after playing seven seasons for San Diego, has 42 catches for 863 yards and seven touchdowns.

Falcons DE John Abraham vs. Bucs LT Donald Penn: Abraham has nine sacks as he continues to play at a high level. Abraham had two sacks last week, including a key sack-strip that led to a touchdown. He has 121 over his career, is the NFL’s active sack leader and one of 15 players in the NFL to reach 120 career sacks. Penn is a feisty mauler. He was fined $7,875 for getting into a facemask tugging match with Minnesota’s Jared Allen earlier this season.

Enough about Robinson, what’s the real deal with the Route Jumper (#22)? Is the shoulder better or worse?

Great professionalism during your interview with Josh Freeman. You constantly embarrass the city of Atlanta & the Falcons organization with your brand of “journalism”, I find it amazing that you are still employed by the AJC or even allowed onto the Flowery Branch facility. Grow up & act with a bit of class. You represent Georgians & the Falcons, of which I am both, try to remember that in the future.

That’s gonna be one quiet Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Maybe they need to have a .New .Orleans Jazz Funeral just to wake the place up….!!!

Until The GM rebuild both LINES with Bigs, Mean, Athletic Lineman, the Birds will not be mention in the same breath as Patriots, Steelers, 49′ers, Giants and Ravens. The only person I would bring back from the the interior OL is #63 Blaylock, the rest of those BUMS would be waived or release. There is No Meanest, agaility or heart in the rest who are ROBBING The Franchise. Some call the POLICE becuz the Falcons are being ROBBED! On the Defensive side , there are ONLY 2 guys who are defensive lineman, who are MEAN, AGGRESIVE and bring Havoc from their position, Abraham and Babineaux(who should be playing defensive end). The defense need tackles atat here 6′3 or taller and weigh over 350 lbs. That can occupy the center and guards from the opposition. They must have that Killer Mentality see Steelers, Patriots,49′ers, Giants and Seahawks. Falcons should use the blue used by the above mention teams who find Big, Aggresive, Athletic lineman on both sides of the ball.Until these needs are address, the Birds will never win a Super Bowl or be mention as a SuperBowl contender!
