“How to slow down TB’s Doug Martin”…tackle him, first time at the line or in the backfield. Don’t line him up for a “kill shot” (DR) just get him on the ground…

You can’t slow the muscle hamster down. You have to make sure Vincent Jackson & Mike Williams don’t take the top of the defense off. That eliminates play action and forces the Bucs to be one dimensional. then pressure applied on both edges and bring some cat blitzes. Problem solved… Oh and start Jacquizz Rodgers.

Even the best runners cease posting yards when they are tackled. Fast and elusive runners like Doug Martin make average tacklers miss; even some excellent tacklers. The secret therefore is tackling. This has been one of the lingering issues with our Falcons. They have been inconsistent in this aspect of the game. In order to be a dominating contender in post-season play, they will have to master it. I am looking for improved tackling across the defense today. Sean Weatherspoon sure helps in that regard. He not only knows how to do it; he inspires others around him to stick their nose in and drop the runner. Here’s hoping we see TACKLING today! GO FALCONS! YOU ARE RISING UP!l YOU CAN TACKLE!
