Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner runs with the football against the Philadelphia Eagles during the first half of an NFL football game, Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, in Philadelphia.
Rodgers also broke loose for a third-quarter 43-yard run, the Falcons’ longest from scrimmage this season.
“That was an outstanding run,” Smith said. “He did a very nice job of eluding tacklers. It was blocked well at the first level and when he got to the second level, he made some people miss.”
The Falcons rushed for a season-high 146 yards on 37 carries against the Eagles.
“They were down low and in the box,” said running back Michael Turner, who had 58 yards on 24 carries. “They were coming and guys were lined up in the gaps.”
But the Falcons stayed committed to the run in order to slow down the Eagles’ vaunted pass rush. They also mixed in an assortment of screen passes to keep the Eagles off balance.
“We want to be a balanced offense, be able to run and pass it,” Turner said. “It was good to mix it up a little bit.”

Love Quizz. But we need to draft another thick between the tackles runner next year. Quiz would break down if he carried the load on every down. That’s not a knock on Rodgers. Just a fact about his body type. It was nice to see some success running the ball against Philly

He is getting better EVERY week!. The most important thing that this kid has learned how to do is protect the QB. He has natural talent that will shine while running the ball. I have seen him stick his nose into a LB’s chest to protect Ryan; which first and foremost is the most impressive thing about him. Watch him continue to get better!

Quizz looked good. Would like see Turner quit making excuses and run the ball like he got a pair.

quizz runs with his eyes, not just to where they said the hole is supposed to be like turner. That was evident on that big run he had when he reversed the field. im nervous evertime he gets hit though, he’s so light it looks like he is getting blasted everytime

I like Quizz and Snelling but I’d also like to see what AntoineSmith could do running the football. The O-Line definitely blocked better on Sunday in the run game. Hopefully they can continue to get better for the remainder of the year.

Turner does not and has not made any excuses for anything. Any body who knows anything about football knows this O-line has struggled to open holes in the run game for both Turner and Quizz. I swear some of these cry baby so-called Falcons fans would be whining about something if this team went undefeated and won the Super Bowl.

Be patient Falcon fans you are going to see some good rushing with our backs as the season moves forward. You have to realize that this last game might have been the most complete game the Falcons have played. Coach Nolan will get this defense to play better down the stretch. If guys stay healthy and the backups play well, when there names are called the sky is the limit. I think the thing that’s stick out the most is the coaching staff is out- coaching teams.

Rodgers is a good player and he certainly has a place in the Falcons offense. However, as I’ve said many times, we need a speed back that’s bigger and can play more downs. Turner is just too slow and does not hit the hole quickly enough.

Quizz can get the job done and if Turner can get a hole to open up then he is hard to bring down. They make a good combo. Turner softens up the D line and quizz comes in and scoots around. I like that tag team they make. Like the dynamic duo coming to a nation wide TV THIS SUN NIGHT!!!!!! I can’t wait

We need to draft a quick cut back runner. Holes in the O line are only there for a second. Turner can only plow ahead even where a big play is a few feet away in another hole or direction. No big play ability. He requires a truck size hole to break one.

Turner averaged a little over 2 yards per carry. No speed, no quickness. Holes are not open for long and he is too slow to get there. O-line gets blamed but Turner is the problem. There are some big, fast RB’s available for trade before deadline..Falcons could use one. Rodgers and Snelling are not starting RB’s for a play-off team.

Tuner is averaging .3 yards per carry more than Rodgers. For all the math majors out there, that is a hole 1 foot more. That is absolutley pitiful. This is his worst season since coming into the league. All you hear from him is excuses and to say the OL is the problem, is just another excuse.

Don’t get all giddy about a good game by Quizz. It’s more about the law of averages and how if he kept getting the ball and was’t knocked down by a blade of grass he might finally have a good run. Don’t you think if they handed the ball off to Antoine Smith as much there would be many big runs? They bestowed millions of dollars on him and that’s why he’s in the game.

__________________________________________________________
Yes, because he’s 29 and been overworked by the Rams. He’s gonna be slowing down like Turner in the next year or two.
If you want a good back, you draft one, ride out their rookie contract, maybe another 2-3 years, then you draft another. They don’t last long in this league with all the pounding.

Give Snelling some runs. He did as good as Turner did when he took over for Turner in 2009. Not much smaller, but quicker and can catch. This won’t happen though. For some reason, MS won’t play him and almost got rid of him this past year.
