Falcons at Eagles: 3 key matchups
Falcons DE John Abraham vs. Eagles LT King Dunlap: Abraham has six sacks and is off to a great start. The Falcons believe he is most effective when he plays from 45 to 50 snaps per game. Dunlap regained his starting spot from Demetress Bell. Dunlap started the first two games of the regular season, but suffered a strained hamstring. Bell took over, but struggled against the Lions. The Eagles have struggled to replace Jason Peters, who is on the non-football injured list after rupturing his Achilles tendon in March.
Falcons CB Dunta Robinson vs. Eagles WR DeSean Jackson: Robinson has leveled big hits in the past two games against the Eagles. Robinson put a hit on Jackson that led to a $50,000 fine that was later reduced to $25,000 in 2010. Both players suffered concussions. Last season, Robinson put a legal hit on Jeremy Maclin. With the game on the line, Maclin, possibly bracing for a big hit, dropped a key fourth-down pass. Jackson leads the Eagles with 29 catches for 465 yards and one touchdown.
Eagles RB LeSean McCoy vs. Falcons’ run defense: McCoy could be in for a big game against the Falcons, who have struggled against the run and are giving up 143.8 yards rushing per game. McCoy has 111 rushes for 459 yards (4.1 per carry) and one touchdown. “We want to make him cut in the backfield and not let him get up to the second level,” defensive end Ray Edwards said. “We have to make sure that we keep him inside the tackles and make plays there.”

as far as d. jackson goes, all you have to do is beat him up at the line, he is a small guy, dunta is too, but all he has to do is get his hands on him, or lay the hammer on him once or twice and it will be a done deal

I’ve already said it earlier this week…if the Falcons want to shut down the Eagles passing game, have Dunta knock the snot outta Jackson again and Willie Mo light up Maclin. They’ll have alligator arms the rest of the game. We have to come out knocking the Eagles in the mouth from the start of the game. Light up LeSean as well and don’t let him sneak outta the backfield for a screen. Rise Up Falcons!!!

Dunta ain’t the best cover corner but MAN he can lay the wood! Keep on keeping on Dunta. And ,by the way, that first hit on Jackson was legal too. First contact was @ the chest then he slid up to make contact with the head. Bad call. But sure did enjoy seeing Jackson get slobber knocked. Dled, the new strategy against the BIRDS is…KEEP MATT…on the sideline and run that ball.
I expect the usual trickery by Reid mix in with a ton of McCoy…both the Dline and Oline will under siege…they have to step TF up…for the Birds to have a chance to remain undefeated.

i cant lie, the falcons could use a chris ivory TYPE runningback, anyone who has power AND speed would be perfect. Quizz is quick but not very powerfull, and vice versa for snelling salts and the burner. And i guess antone pissed somebody off, he cant touch the field but he makes the team every season. WOuld you let go of Turner for a Steven Jackson type or Marshaawn Lynch?

I am guessing Peyton Manning will throw for at least 400 yards on that very, very pourous Saints defense! Falcons will take care of the Eagles and be 7-0 and the Saints will lose to the Broncos (by 2 or 3 TD’s) and be sitting at 2-5 and very possibly not even a threat to the Falcons coasting to an NFC South Championship. It will be sweet to win the Super Bowl on the Saint’s turf, the city where mother nature goes to take a dump! lol GO FALCONS, ITS OUR TIME!!!!!!!!! RISE UP!!!!!

Maclin has hurt the Falcons more than Jackson in the last few meetings. It seemed like BVG’s gameplan was to take away Jackson and let Maclin get what he wants. It will be interesting to see what Nolan comes up with.

This is one of those games (against the Eagles) where all bets are off the table and you expect nothing, win or lose – no surprises. Cause the Eagles are a wildcard when it comes to what kind of explosion and force they can bring to an opponent, and the Falcons are consistent this year but haven’t faced a talent-laced team yet. I’m still dreaming of big hits downfield and a running game with an OL that has finally awakened. The biggest wildcard in it all is that the Eagles have never faced a Falcons team more than mediocrity behind the wheel. Look out for Nolan and Koetter to bring something creative again. Can’t wait for this game, even though I’ll be up at 2am (Japan time) Monday morning.
