Falcons don’t expect Eagles’ D to change under Bowles

By Michael Cunningham

FLOWERY BRANCH — The Eagles have a new defensive coordinator after coach Andy Reid fired Juan Castillo last week and replaced him with Todd Bowles. The Eagles had a bye so the Falcons haven’t seen their defense with Bowles in charge.

Falcons center Todd McClure said that lack of information “definitely can present a little bit of a problem” for Atlanta’s preparations but he doesn’t think it will be a major issue.

“It’s still going to be the same guys we’ve seen on film,” McClure said. “I don’t think they are going to drastically change what they’ve done. They’ve had training camp to put in their defensive philosophies and the first six games of the season. I just can’t see them changing too much.”

Bowles was hired as Philadelphia’s defensive backs coach in January. He’s been an NFL defensive assistant since 2000 and led the Dolphins to a 2-1 record as interim coach last season.

“I’ve known Todd a long time,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said. “He’s an excellent coach so we’ve got to be prepared for some ‘unscouted’ looks. [But] I don’t think there will be a mass change in what they do philosophically because they’ve invested so much time into the scheme that they’re running.”

The Saints are 2-4 not 2-5, the panthers beat the Saints, and I can righteously talk anywhere I please.

Seen . .as a longtime Red Sox fan . . ..I’m going to remain quiet about the current 4 game lead over the Saints. I’ve seen folks taunt their Yankee “friends” in July only to be crying in September. Damn Yankees. I don’t want to be saying Damn Saints!

Time to turn Micheal “the Burner Turner Loose. If he can”t, Snelling gets the nod if he can’t Antoine Smith. As far as Rodgers go, give him more touches. Time to break teams will against us, give them the hard run game, then let it rip deep to our STUDS!

It’s time we put a whooping on the Eagles. They have had our number for too many years now. Last years win wasn’t big enough, I want to put at least 40 on them. Go FALCONS!!!
