Atlanta Falcons: Asante Samuel taunts Andy Reid on Twitter

After Asante Samuel helped the Falcons defeat the Raiders Sunday, the former Eagles cornerback predicted he would receive a warm welcome from fans when he returns to Philadelphia with the Falcons Oct. 28.

“They love me!” Samuel said during a colorful interview in the locker room. “They are going to scream when I come out the tunnel. Philly, you better scream!”

But apparently Samuel still has no love for his former Eagles coach, Andy Reid.

Samuels went on Twitter today to take some shots at Reid. His tweets are apparently in response to a Philadelphia Inquirer report this past summer that said Reid “thought [Samuel] was in steep decline and that his style no longer suited the scheme.”

The Eagles traded Samuel to Atlanta for a seventh-round pick after Samuel agreed to restructure his contract.

FIRST!!!! What a steal for the Falcons….I bet Andy Reid feels like a clown now for letting this pro-bowler go for basically nothing. Falcons all the way to the superbowl….19-0 baby….

I agree Mick. Asante and his fellow DBs need to worry less about Andy Reid and more about tightening up what is becoming a concern for the Falcons, and that is their defense. Run D, passing D…..you name it, it needs some serious shoring up. What in the heck happened to that aggressive, attacking defense that gave Peyton Manning and Phillip Rivers nightmares just a month ago?

Kurtis and Mick, the defense is doing its job. The passing D is fine. A few bad games and people go to pieces. The defense did what it had to do to put the offense, which has struggled, in a position to win. Asante has blown some plays but also came up big.

I’m sure the bye week will take care of things. Last I checked, the defense held the Raiders to 20 points considering 3 TOs. And 10 points against the Redskins (their other 7 came off a pick 6).

Rather be 6-0 than say we have a great team. Falcons are a good team and the eagles are not. Can’t wait to smack Philly around.

I follow Asante on twitter & 99% of the time he tweets positive things. Not saying that this was a negative comment but I mean it’s his twitter feed he can express himself how he see fit, but I’d rather him stay humble. We have to focus on tightening up a few things & both teams are on a bye. We don’t have time for drama right now especially if we trying to stay undefeated

The Eagles gave up on Asante. They said he will not tackle and he will not make plays. They were wrong. Fired Defensive Coach today

Pretty soon Andy Reid is also going to regret letting Kolb go too. The Eagle’s fans are starting to see what many in the ATL have known for some time.

Just hope that Samuel plays his butt off in two weeks to back up the smack talk!!

I think he just has a chip on his shoulder. He’s not just gum flapping. Imagine if your boss sent you to another division of the company because he felt you were past your years even though you’ve been moderately to highly productive during your tenure. Mind you he hasnt made the best managerial decisions as of late himself but decides to jettison you. Nothing different from what we deal with as well. I like Reid but you gotta scratch your head at a guy who promotes an Offensive Line coach to run the entire D…only to fire him the next season. Sounds like a whiff to me. I hope Samuel comes out and has a monster game! I dont care about the talk.

All these ppl tellinng him to not talk clearly don’t know 22 & understand how he gets his mojo! He has every right to say whatever he wants about Andy & there were so manny of you same ppl who were also calling him washed up before the season started & were downplaying him as a signnificant pick up for the birds! While both y’all & Andy were wrong, 22 has been huge especially in light of Grimes going out for the year again. & You ppl complaininng about the defense, especially the pass defennse, what the heck are y’all complaining about we’re the 11th ranked pass defense in the NFL & with a lack of pressure still being the case up front outside of Abe, I’m trying to figure out what y’all wannt from 22 or anyone else??? I’ll take the 11th ranked pass defense in the NFL all day, especially in light of this coming without one of our best D-linemen (Peters) & already having faced Peyton Manning, Rivers, Cam, & RG3 in 4 out of our 6 games. Fans on here kill me sometimes, I think that y’all are the ones who need to stop talking, the negative ones, & let 22 do what he’s been doing, because he’s obviously doing it well!

I think the Falcons are 1st in the league in turnovers, and 2nd in interceptions. They had a pick 6, and a strip sack fumble by Abraham. They gave up a ton of yards only because Matt Ryan kept them on the field by throwing 3 interceptions. The football IQ of some of the fans in Atlanta kills me, bottom line the DEFENSE saved the day!!!

Love this tweet, but I love the idiots even more who think him talking will have some negative effect on the up coming games for the Falcons. Do you guys think the Falcons will go 16-0 this year? They barely beat some lower tier teams who exploded on them all throughout the game but lost due to bonehead moves & acts of God (Cam Newtons fumble). Do you smart guys really think that’s enough when ATL has a qb that won’t take extra yardage by running when needed & utilizing better play action to keep the defenders off balance? It’s always 10 against 11 with Matty playing like an adult pansy out there… Matty ICE, thanks for the last minute drive to set up the field goal, but on a CONSISTENT note — RISE UP!

Each player amps himself up in different ways. Based on what’s coming out of the Linc, I don’t think many players on the Eagles team are going to get any more amped up to play based on defending Andy Reid’s GM skills.

Social media is the enemy of anyone who still believes in face to face human interactions and civil, controlled discourse. Mark my word, at some point there will be a comprehensive medical and socialogical research done which will conclude that it has marginalized human beings by making them faceless and emotionally isolated (no or too little direct human contact), as well as preyed upon the basest points of human nature, especially the desire to say and do things through the empowerment of anonymity and/or distance that they never would to another person’s face. Emotional and mental detachment from family members and friends in favor of staring constantly down at their smartphones will be declared what it is: a very unhealthy and destructive addiction. The question then is, will our society have the spine to walk away from all of it? Very likely not, sadly.

Aside from that analysis, the Falcons and every other sports team should have the common sense to impose a gag rule for their players and personnel on such sites. It’s an unnecessary distraction and all too often has the exact opposite consequences of what the offender envisioned.

Its time for the Falcons to get the National Notoriety that they deserve. Keep Winning, and the level of Respect will “RISE UP”. Win in Prime-Time for everyone to see. Our NEXT biggest Games are Sunday Night (Cowboys) and Thursday Night (Saints). Don’t Let Up. A Win is a A Win. In the words of Vince Lombardi “Winning is a Habit”. Stay focused on one game at a time.

Some NFL Network commentators (Darren Sharper) are reluctant to just admit that the DaBirds are winning by any means necessary, and developing the habits of a winning franchise. Blank, Dimitroff, Smith, and Ryan are the best thing that happened to the Falcons, building the GA Dome. These type of wins will build the “Championship” confidence that is required to lift the DaBirds to the next level. I can feel it. Can you? These close wins will build the confidence required to get us over the obstacle of the Playoff Wins, NFC – Championship Games, and Finally A Superbowl Win.

To the Falcons Team (The Most Successful Team in Falcon History) … Stay Strong…Never Give Up…Play FOR each other…Believe in the Team…. It’s your time. You have to reach out and grab what belongs to you.

Asante’s comments don’t have me worried so much as Andy Reid’s 12-0 record in games following his team’s bye-week. He is on the hot seat no doubt, but he is a very good game planner who can get his team ready for anyone.

I have never been much of a fan of reading players Twitter comments. Roddy is worst about flapping his gum on there. Now Asante want to flap his. I got news for him, one pick in 6 games is not exactly impressive.
