Raiders vs. Falcons: 3 key matchups

Raiders DE Andre Carter vs. Falcons OT Tyson Clabo: Carter, 33, recently was signed to jump-start the pass rush. The Raiders have three sacks, worst in the NFL. Carter has 76 sacks in 163 career games over 11 seasons in the NFL. With the Patriots, he had 10 sacks last season and was named to the Pro Bowl for the first time. He is coming back from a torn quadriceps and was rehabbing when signed by the Raiders. Clabo is coming off a strong game against Washington’s Ryan Kerrigan.

Raiders RB Darren McFadden vs. Falcons LB Sean Weatherspoon: McFadden is featured as a runner and receiver. The fleet McFadden is one of the leading receivers in the NFL out of the backfield. McFadden ranks fourth in the league among running backs, with 18 receptions for 111 yards. The Raiders have not been able to spring him in the running game yet, but the Falcons are giving up 142.8 yards per game (27th in the league). Weatherspoon is coming off an 11-tackle game.

Raiders MLB Rolando McClain vs. Falcons RB Michael Turner: McClain is a former first-round pick whose career is off to a slow start. He ranked second on the team with 99 tackles and had five sacks last season. He has 36 tackles (23 solo) through four games. “He needs improvement just like all of us,” Oakland coach Dennis Allen said. Turner had a season-high 18 carries last week and has averaged 4.4 yards per carry. He scored the game-winning touchdown on a 13-yard run.

Hopefully, those with tickets to the game will get there on time and be in the stands for the opening kickoff. Let’s get the place rocking early and keep it going.

If Carter is %100, then his matchup with Clablo concerns me…hopefully he’ll be a step slow for this game. Definitely don’t want a “Charles Johnson like” performance from Carter. CJ was without a sack before the Falcons game and Clabo let em go wild.

This can be a trap game, but I think this team is focused- besides they saw the Steelers lose to Tennesse.

Tough game for the Birds. Raiders coming off their bye-week. Birds looking forward to their bye-week. Birds to win, but with much terpidtion for the base.
