FLOWERY BRANCH–Falcons coach Mike Smith said reserve tight end Michael Palmer will miss Sunday’s game against Carolina because of an unspecified shoulder injury.
“He will definitely be out for the game this week,” Smith said today during his news conference.
Palmer suffered the injury during Atlanta’s 27-3 victory at San Diego yesterday. He had played six snaps up to that point and had one catch for one yard. For the season, Palmer (Parkview High School) has two catches for seven yards.
Blocking tight end Tommy Gallarda is the other player behind starter Tony Gonzalez on the 53-man roster. If the Falcons decide to add another tight end to the roster they could sign Chase Coffman off the practice squad.

Julios hand will most likely be fine if anything they will tape it up and let him play ball too big of an impact to be out with a finger injury

Chase Coffman should be on the “Active Roster” anyway. If he gets a chance to play, he will be the heir apparent to Tony Gonzalez. No doubt!

[...] D. Orlando Ledbetter of the AJC reports that Falcons head coach Mike Smith has already ruled tight end Michael Palmer out for this weekend’s matchup against divisional rival Carolina Panthers. Palmer suffered a shoulder injury early in Sunday’s win over the San Diego Chargers. He managed a single catch for a yard before he left the game. [...]

I like palmer, he has done a good job when called on. Hope he’s back soon.
This is off topic but have you heard about what cowboy fans are finding when they go to cowboys.com? hahaha, you can’t make this stuff up. Sure to be a saints.com site coming soon.
bucs? why not? just for all the little buckaroos down in Tampa.
The real kicker will be http://www.panters.com for little spelling mistakes made in the Carolinas..

IDK about Chase he’s been cut from teams for a reason.. Including ours.
But lets hope he’s worked hard and built himself up to be a consistent and legitimate NFL player first become placing him as heir apparent to a HOF’er..

Hate to hear about a local guy (Palmer) being hurt….but, Coffman is a beast, and if given the opportunity, he will be a great player for us in the near future…

Gallarda looked a little green against SD — which is understandable.
We really don’t need an injury to Gonzo.
This Team has dealt with Grimes’ loss & the local police departments attempting to pick our players one by one.
We can’t lose Matty Ice or Gonzo.

If they stick it out for a couple of years with Chase Coffman, the Falcons will have another pass catching tight end for quite some time!

If Chase Coffman ever get the desire to block. He would have been playing a long time ago. Can’t take a chance on getting you QB killed.

Heir apperant to TG? The guy got cut in camp for a blocking TE who may never catch a pass in the NFL. If you can’t block, very few coaches want you on their team. If he learns to block he can get off the pactice squad.
