Falcons vs. Chiefs: 3 key matchups

Falcons RT Tyson Clabo vs. Chiefs OLB Justin Houston: With Tamba Hali suspended for the game for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, Houston is the Chiefs best pass rusher. The former Georgia standout had 5.5 sacks last season, tying him for fifth all-time in Chiefs history for most sacks by a rookie. Clabo, who’s hoping to return to his 2010 Pro Bowl form, will have Houston most of the day. “Justin is doing good,” Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel said. “This is his second year and I think he has a much more comfortable feeling about the defense and his role in the defense. I think he has some high aspirations for the type of player that he wants to be.”

Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez vs. Chiefs SS Eric Berry: Gonzalez played 12 seasons with the Chiefs. Berry returns at safety after missing nearly all of last season with a knee injury. In 2010, Berry became the first Chiefs player since linebacker Derrick Thomas in 1989 to earn a Pro Bowl selection following his rookie season when he set a franchise safety record with 126 tackles and returned four interceptions for 102 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown. Gonzalez does not appear to be showing any signs of slowing down at age 36. He has averaged 77 catches per season in three campaigns with the Falcons.

Falcons WLB Sean Weatherspoon vs. Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles: The Falcons believe that Charles is the second fastest running back in the league behind Tennessee’s Chris Johnson. After posting back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons, he suffered a knee injury and played in just two games last season. He’s also a dangerous pass catcher out of the backfield. “He’s an elusive player,” Weatherspoon said. “They try to get him in space so that he can do what he does best. As a linebacker, you kind of have to play tight on him. You have to get downhill on him quick when he’s coming out of the backfield. You have to try to send him in the direction that you want him to go in, instead of him having a two-way go on you. That will be the biggest thing. He’s coming back off an injury, but he looks pretty explosive from the preseason clips that I’ve seen.”

I’ll be watching that DLed (on replay of course, I’ll be at the MB Superdome) to see how well they can shut down J Jones, if at all. Don’t have to worry about White on the other side, I’m sure he’ll pick up where he left off, dropping the ball…..LOL!

This is going to be a huge game for the Falcons entire season. KC is regarded as the weakest of th AFC west this year. But KC is getting backEric Berry an Charles at RB so they will be very dangerous. This game will not be a blowout and the Falcons will have to be at their best.
Waiving Tim Toone was totally political and lies, lies, and lies. Hamstring my butt. Somebody paniced because they already know Robinson and Samuel are less than advertised. Franks is a physical talent that isn’t the brightest bulb on the tree.
If Dent can’t handle the middle does anyone have Tuggle’s phone number?
I stick by 9-7 record this year.

Arenas or the other dime corner picks ups the slot of 4th receivers in KC… Go look at the Green Bay/KC game from last year…

@ Ledbetter, they are going to feed the Falcons a heavy dose of Hillis… Everyone (OC) wants at that undersized middle front and that thin LB corp…

@Hamp: It doesn’t really matter why the nation demands to see the Saints, the fact is that they do, and Fox is electing to showcase the Saints nationwide.

As for your anemic prediction of mounting losses for the Saints, go ahead and bet your mortgage that the Washington Redskins will win this weekend, let’s see if you got the cajones to do that. My guess is that you won’t.

That’s why I said “virtually” nationwide. Both our games are head to head. But the expanse of area to which our game is being transmitted dwarfs the area that your game is being transmitted to.

Washington is the no. 8 TV market… Atlanta is number 9… Kansas City is 31… New Orleans is 52… Disclaimer: New Orleans gets all of Louisiana, Mississippi (except W. Memphis) a large part of Arkansas (including Little Rock #56 and half million viewers and Washington gets all of the Baltimore viewing area (usually reserved for the Ravens, they play on Monday night) #27 added to the viewing skew on Sunday. Plus Richmond/Petersburg which is a half million viewers at #57… So, about 3.5 million viewers for the Falcons-Chiefs vs. 6.2 million viewers for the Saints-Skins…

Chiefs will have to double Julio, leaving Roddy, TG, or HD in single coverage. That’s curtains.

Peyton Hillis is a strong RB who can pound the ball but it’s Charles who is the key to giving our LB corps fits. Only problem for the Chiefs there is our defense flows to the ball quite well and much of our secondary knows how to hit. That’s if the LBs don’t bring them down first, this is a quick/fierce unit.

Ratings? Who gives a snot wad? Wins make the difference. But I suppose Saints fans have to have something to sing about and who the frak knows what JSS’s problem is. Closet Saint fan or simply a local hater who probably got his arse raped at the tail gate party or something (happens when you look and smell like a $2 hoe).

Seen,
I am a real football fan. I know the saints are still a good team what moron would beat even a snickers bar for the redskins to beat the aints. C’mon man be real. I hate your team but I know they are still talented. My point is they will not be as good a everyone is banking on and yes I do believe they will loose a few games. All in all they are a good team though. You bet your mortage that they win the superbowl of even go deep in to the playoffs bet you wont do that. Because that defense will have you homeless that’s why you won’t bet.

Also, we all know that the Aint’s are perfect and you do a great job

Wait until the Saints play the Chiefs… it will be the same non televised crap. Frankly it is because the Falcons and the Saints aren’t in the NFC north.
