Atlanta Falcons: Tony Gonzalez to face old mates
(We’ll have more on Tony G going back to K.C. on Wednesday. That’s the day he’s scheduled to talk to the media. –DOL)
The last time the Falcons played the Kansas City Chiefs in the regular season, Tony Gonzalez was their tight end and Tyler Thigpen was the starting quarterback back in 2008.
It was Matt Ryan’s third game for the Falcons and he led them to a 38-14 victory. Michael Turner rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns.
Gonzalez played 12 seasons with the Chiefs and will face his old team for the first time in a regular-season game on Sunday.

Longtime transplanted Chief’s fan here. It will be a glorius day for Tony G and the fans who still revere him on a level accorded only to a Len Dawson or Derrick Thomas. Regardless of the game outcome, TG will be cheered long and loud.

Of course Chiefs fans will applaud, it’s not everyday they see one of their own relics on the field, it’s like finding a real stone arrowhead. Be careful with it, it’s real old and brittle.

Michael M. – Dont sleep on the Chiefs. They’re banged up but Crennel should have them ready to go. These are the type of teams we need to stop taking lightly…always comes back to bite us. HOWEVER, I too am looking for a good performance. I expect a 30 point performance from the Birds. We have the tools to get it done. Lets hope we dont play down to the level of competition this year and actually steam roll some teams. Mike Smith, its on you this year sir. No more vanilla ball. No more Mr. Nice guy. Lead this team to where the talent dictates we can go.
