FALCONS COACH MIKE SMITH

ON QUARTERBACK DOMINIQUE DAVIS: We wanted to get a good long look, an extended look at Dominique. He’d played in parts of three previous games. Wanted to make sure that we get as much tape on him as we can. We played him the entire ball game and thought he handled it fairly well.

ON RUNNING BACKS DIMITRI NANCE AND ANTONE SMITH: Those are guys in the evaluation process, fighting for roster spots. So they got an opportunity to come out here and compete. That’s all you can ask as a player is a fair opportunity to show what you can do.”

DOMINIQUE DAVIS

ON HIS PLAY VS. JACKSONVILLE: It was a learning experience. I got to pretty much SEE everything, every coverage. I got knocked on my butt a couple of times. It was a good experience. That was something to learn from.

ON GOING AGAINST FIRST-TEAMERS: Yes you do (notice the difference). The speed of it is a lot different. I just had to try to stay within myself and keep doing the things I’ve been doing.

ON KEEPING POISE IN THE HUDDLE: I was just taking it one play at a time. I just told them, let’s try to get in that box every time.

JACQUIZZ RODGERS

ON HIS TOUCHDOWN RUN: It was great blocking. The touchdown was easy. It was just a walk-in basically.

ON MAKING THEM PAY AFTER A TURNOVER: That’s always big anytime that the defense makes a stop like that and they are backed up. That makes it easier for the offense because we know if we just hold onto the ball and don’t turn it over, that we were going to come away with points no matter what.

ON BEING READY FOR THE SEASON: It’s my second season. I’m more comfortable this year. Everything is slowing down for me. I’m looking to do big things.”

SEAN WEATHERSPOON

ON IF THE DEFENSE IS READY FOR THE REGULAR SEASON: We’ve had time to get adjusted to Coach [Mike] Nolan’s system. We feel comfortable with it. We just look forward to getting to Kansas City to see what we can do when the lights really come on.

ON THE BACKUP LINEBACKERS: I think Pat Schiller played pretty good tonight. I think he’s been getting better throughout the camp and he kind of showed that tonight. I think he played pretty good. Rico Council, Jerrell Harris and all of those guys were around the football tonight. That’s something that you would like to see from your linebackers. Hopefully, they can take that and build on it.

ANTONE SMITH

ON THE 31-YARD SCREEN PASS: That felt good. It was a great opportunity to go out there and show what I can do. I had to take advantage of the opportunity. He hit me with the screen and just touching the ball period was a great experience.

ON MAKING THE TEAM: The No. 1 guy is always going to be Mike Turner. We’ve got Quizz and we’ve got Snelling. However they want to use me on this team, I’m ready to do it. I’m just a workhorse. I’m ready to do everything.

Antonne Smith needs to be on the field during the regular season as a RB and not just be used on special teams.

Just Glad That The Preseason Is Over…full price tickets for sub-par football overall.

Does anyone still have Redman’s phone number?

I like Domonique Davis’ performance tonight. Good accuracy, good movement in the pocket. Wait until he gets some All-Stars supporting him at receiver.

Offense played pretty well except for the drops and tips to the defense. Defense on the other hand was atrocious. Jacksonville marched right down the team everytime. Looked like they were playing against highschoolers. We need to bring in bigger and a better quality of backup to groom into our system.

When will we get the registration comment system to get rid of these illiterate Saints morons? Go Falcons!

Davis looked pretty good for a rookie playing with second and third stringers, many of whom will not be here soon.

Here we go! Time to head to Arrowhead and put a smackin’ on Romeo Crennel troops!! I didn’t get to see the game last night (except the first 16 seconds) and will look at the game today….somewhat. Doesn’t really matter though. It all starts next Sunday against the Chiefs. They’re going down!

Tuff day coming for a lot of players that will be cut. I hope their backup plan is a good one. The real world starts in 48 hours and don’t count on folks bringing you gatoraid. Just saying. Best of luck.

The Falcons second string defense is horrible! Let’s pray that the Falcons starters stay healthy.

I’m looking for who their going to cut, and who will be on the practice squad. I’ll have something to say then. As far as the team as a whole the fans will get a read on the team in terms of the new coaching staff when the Falcons play The Kansas city Chiefs.

Not worried about DD. If the receivers had stepped up, it would have been a different outcome. I am however worried about the front 4. We’ve seen some pressure by Jerry, Mass, Travian, but how many sacks or hits? Seems like we can’t get to the QB without a blitz package

Don’t worry too much about that idiot troll. It gives some people their only opportunity to think they have said something of value. They look at it in print and marvel at their superior intellect. Cuts should be easy. All other nfl teams have better 2nd and 3rd strings. Makes me wonder who all are in charge of picking our personnel depth talent because there seems to be an issue there.

Liked seeing Davis all game. Our depth really is garbage. Who’s is charge of scouting? TD I thought that was a strength of yours? It’s like you put all eggs in the 1st string basket.
