The last time the Jerry brothers – Peria and John — faced each other, the Falcons came away with a 16-6 victory in Miami on Aug. 27, 2010.

That was also the last time the Falcons won an exhibition game. With losses to Baltimore and Cincinnati

this season, the Falcons have the league’s longest exhibition-game losing streak at seven.

When the Falcons face the Dolphins at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Sun Life Stadium, the Jerrys will be out to impress their coaches after bumpy patches early in their NFL careers.

John, a third-round pick in 2010, is listed at 329 pounds, but showed up to training camp at 360 pounds. On HBO’s “Hard Knocks,”  he’s heard asking one of the defenders to take it easy on him.

When the Dolphins increased Jerry’s practice time, he vomited on the field twice.

An offensive guard, John had a strong game against Carolina and could have to block his brother sometimes, or Falcons defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux.

Peria Jerry, a first-round pick in 2009, has played well in the two exhibition games and can lock down a starting position with a good showing.

Jerry had three tackles and a tackle for a loss against Baltimore on Aug. 9, and he had two tackles and one sack against Cincinnati on Thursday.

“I feel good with everything,” said Peria Jerry, who came to camp in fine shape. “I have just continue to get better each day.”

They were beating up his brother in Hard Knocks, both on and off the field. Kind of sad, but Peria better not go easy on him.

That vaunted Andy Dalton to AJ Green connection didn’t exactly look as good against GB as they did in Atlanta.
Hopefully not a sign of things to come!!

It will be interesting to see if Coach Smith is going to keep that cocky attitude and keep Akeem Dent in on special teams or not.

Don’t go easy on your brother Peria! Beat him! Save the sweet talk for after the game. It’s your job to beat the man across from you. If Peria Jerry has a strong showing tonight, I think he’s entrenched as one of the starters on our D-line. It doesn’t really matter who starts however because we have a great rotation on our D-line. Give em hell Peria!

@ usually I just read but….

The simple explanation for that is that opposing fans are over-emphasizing the detrimental impact of the so-called “big stink” on the machine called the New Orleans Saints. Sure, the suspensions are a inconvienence, but devastating to the Saints’ stranglehold on the division? Not even close!

STB4………….Falcons most likely will beat the pads out of your team this year………….you have a suspect defense that can’t half-way tackle and your O’line is weaker than last year……………….

Poor delusional “Seen”. Man you got some issues. LOL. I feel bad for you. Cheer for your team man becasue they will need all the help they can get this year. Trust me you dont need to bash my team, your team needs every last Nutria ( for those that dont know what a Nutria is – - – The coypu, also known as the river rat, and nutria, is a large, herbivorous, semiaquatic rodent and the only member of the family Myocastoridae – - they are plentiful down there in the NO) to cheer for them this year. Worry about your porus Defense that cant stop anyone and better yet REALLY worry about that Oline you dont have. You my friend are in for a Looooooooong year. Throw a couple of those Nutria on the BBQ and have yourself a swamprat party. Birds shall FLY high and the NFL will see our starters for 3 quarters tonight, get your pen and paper ready so you can comeback and share with us how you not afraid of these Birds. Beside it sure took you a minute to get back on after that so called game you Aints had last week…………not much to say? I would not have had much to say either after that game! And like the experts said, you guys have some concern with all facets of the game. You got Drew but one man dont make a team cha cha! Trouble in the Bayou!

Peria Jerry has played a lot better this preseason. One could make the case that he has been the most explosive DT during the 1st two preseason games. Jerry has not lived up to expectations in the past but he clearly is trying to move beyond that problem now.

@Shall we rise up: Part of your rant is true: that I don’t need to bash your team….you all do that well enough and don’t need any help from me. Problem is, I LIKE bashing your team. And you should be plenty worried about your own team’s performance tonight. I think that rookie QB is going to chew up your defensive underbelly, like the Nutria chew up our canal banks; it’s falcan’t meat on the menu tonight bud.
But, as I, and some of your cohorts, have expressed before, it doesn’t matter if your falcan’ts win or lose tonight. It doesn’t count. Be patient though, in 16 days, you’ll realize how much of the hype flowing out of flowery branch is nothing more than a mere smoke screen, the only kind of screen that the falcan’ts can execute rather well.

By the way, the Saints don’t play tonight, they’re on tomorrow night. If you want to watch a preview of Super Bowl XLVII, you can watch it on CBS.

@Seen, I think its funny that the Falcons are so deep in your “behind”. I mean, you’re here everyday all day and you know tons of info and stats on the Falcons, meanwhile I know almost nothing about the aints, I can probably name 5 players…..and thats all I know about them. I didn’t know LA sold their sole to Mercedes…..and your owners name is Tom ??. Thank You for taking the time to learn all about my team, their stats and history but I’m sorry, its not worth my time to learn yours, nor do I have the desire to, the aints are just of no concern to me. My point is, there’s an old saying ” Know your competition” Your presents and knowledge of my team compared to mine of yours…..

@cejay–You deserve post of the day!
@seen — Houston on Saturday will open your defense up…..again like the Jags……hehehehehe…..like the Jags; I almost could not type that I was laughing so hard! Murlakeys Jags open that Aint defense up! Whos playing LB for you guys on Saturday……you suiting up? At least the Aints would have similar talent! Bwhahahahahaha! You once again will be all in the TV watching the Birds prey on Miami…..you seenitb4…….hehehehehehe. we expect you to know about one of the best teams in the NFL because you know you have to bash them to try and feel better about your Aunts…..(yes I meant to type Aunts). Here is the kicker you took at least 3 to 4 days to show your stinking post back in the Rise Up Blog…….why because the Jags (someone help me I am laughing so hard) tore the Aunts a new hole in your defense. And you think you git a team…….keep thinking that and keep believing in the Easter Bunny! Hahahahahajhwha……the Jags!

@Cejay: Judging from the numerous errors in your post, I would imagine that you didn’t care to pay attention in class either, or perhaps it’s just a learning disability. It’s Saints, not aints; it’s soul, not sole (and by the way, let me remind you, your owner’s name is Blank!, LOL!); and it’s presence, not presents. But, I understood your broken English, so it made no difference.

I also makes no difference to me what you know about my team.

But, I know enough about my team’s primary rival, to know that the Saints are superior in talent, and in depth, in the majority of positions. Note, I didn’t say ALL positions, cause I also know where the Saints are deficient vis-a-vis the falcan’ts. But, by your own admission, you’re proclaiming to the world that I am a more informed fan than you and in better position to make the prognostication: The Saints will repeat as Division Champs.

Falcons will be 8-8 because their LB’s are garbage and their corners are suspect…. Add to that the fact that they will not be able to run the ball, and you get a middle of the road QB that will get happy feet cause his O-line is suspect…..
