FLOWERY BRANCH — Wide receiver Michael Calvin, an undrafted rookie free agent from California, was waived today by the Falcons.
The team reached an injury settlement with Calvin, who had a leg injury. The roster is now at 89 players, one below the league maximum for training camp.
He was the star of the team’s Friday Night Lights scrimmage at Peachtree Ridge High on August 3.
Calvin, 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, ran a 4.32 in the 40-yard dash at Cal’s 2012 Pro Day, which would have been the fastest time at the NFL scouting combine. He had a broad jump of 11 feet, 1 inch and a vertical of 40.5 inches, which would have tied for the best and tied for the fourth-best marks at the combine, respectively.
Calvin played in 37 games for the Golden Bears and made 10 starts. He had 42 catches for 528 yards and one touchdown over his career. He said injuries also slowed his collegiate career.

Exactly why ALL those scouting combine drills and statistics don’t mean squat!!!
It’s what you do after someone on the opposing team has knocked the $#!+ out of you that determines whether your an NFL caliber player or not.

Ever notice how the New Orleans AINTS seem to stink up the whole concept of the NFL which is supposed to stand for an elite and very professional sports organization! The AINTS always were famous (infamous) for pushing the envelope of legal hits and such but, then even they finally set a precedence of a morally and professionally all time low. Why cant we simply eliminate them from the NFL and go on which “professional” football? Something they would know nothing about!

Doggies better watch out for yellow jacket nests in the ground! And the NFL is going to pay large sums to former players who got multiple concussions. They have deep pockets and very good lawyers. The Real football (which is called soccer here) is moving up.
