With the starters in there, we had no running game. Some of this is down to a stout Bengals defense. But it’s very disturbing. We’ll not be back in the play-offs without a big improvement there. Turner ran like he had concrete in his shoes. And there were more missed tackles than you would expect (hope) to see. Did you see both Spoon and DeCoud whiff on tackling their TE? That was very poor.

Baghdad Bob has nothing on Smith!!! Those safeties are a mess despite the fumbles they caused…
August 17th, 20127:50 am
And they are still kicking field goals in the red zone!

@Michael M.: Do you have a queasy feeling today? The NFL’s a beotch sometimes, huh? But, sometimes, it’s a Brees!
BTW: Congratulations to Drew Brees and his wife Brittany, on the birth of their third son!

That face mask call by the refs on Babineaux was down right shameful. Running game needs improvement in a hurry. I like to see antone Smith returning the kickoffs. Polite can catch and Dominique Davis is talented. Matt Ryan got a little more zip on those passes, let’s see how that goes by midseason. The Falcons two safeties made good plays stripping the ball. Although there was some poor tackling on some of those run plays. It’s all preseason so i’m not reading too much into this team. I thought Asante made some good plays on Green before he got beat for a touch down. Win some loose some.

Sure hope Quizz is starting in the backfield by game 4. Turner is done, stick a fork in him. He runs like a turkey anyway.
August 17th, 20128:56 am
I was hoping to see a lot more from them on both sides of the ball. Turner is so slow getting to the line, even if the O line opens up a hole for him by the time he gets there it has closed. Was he in preseason halfspeed or something? The O line didn’t look much better than last year to begin with but maybe a little better later in the game, still an area for concern. Having a couple more preseason games to improve is a really good thing!
August 17th, 20129:28 am
It’s preseason… Why not go for it on 4th and goal from the 3?
Matt Ryan still checking down to his RB’s too much.
Play calling on O still very predictable.
I know it’s preseason but I see very little to no change in what the new OC is bringing to the table.

Mediocrity continues – Koetter called quite a few 5- and 7-step drops, but like you said Ryan checked them down to the backs.
August 17th, 20129:33 am
NYFalcon – I think Turner is missing #34.
August 17th, 20129:41 am
Samuel – Yeah, that was pentiful. You can probably see those refs again this Saturday at Campbell Middle School when the Smyrna Spartans and Wallace Park 49ers meet for their NWGYFL opening scrimmage, ages 5 to 12. I’ll be on the lookout for a couple of those refs. I tried to get Smitty to say something about the replacement refs, but he wouldn’t take the bait.

Larry — I was trying to hold it still. Need to do some more pushups!

Any word on why Lamar holmes still hasn’t touch the field in the second preseason game as our number 3 pick this year??? You guys let them ride on this- what does Lamar have HIV or what dude? I have never seen a more clandestine effort to hide an injury or lack of transparency from a coaching staff about why such a high pick that was universally panned still hasn’t made it to the field yet-
They said he was going to rest for all of minicamp and boy he sure did that so he could be ready for the training camp- now a month goes by and this dude hasn’t even made it close to the field yet….
Sure makes you wonder what the hell happened injury wise to this dude for such a big 6″6 340 pound dude man these are horrible signs from the beginning-
You know what I see when I watch these last two preseason games- I see a gm that has drafted well for first and second rounds and done good with free agency- but when the backups come in this dude Dimitroff whiffs with picks 3 and 4 for sure- and really a lot of the later picks- all of the other good teams when they draft a dude in the third round they start or are a serious contributor with all of the underclassmen that come out each year a third round pick is like a high second round pick now-
That’s what you see-
2008- chevis jackson- 3rd
thomas decoud- 3rd (i am not as high as the falcons are on this guy)
2009- Christopher owens 3rd- (a reincarnation of Bobby “burn me” Butler)
2010- (no second round pick- traded for gonzalez)
mike johnson- 3rd round- (enough said)
joe hawley – 4th round (set record for being jacked up in the air by DT’s in 2011)
Corey Peters- I think he turned out to be a pleasant surprise for 3rd round but he isn’t as good as they make him out to be.. he is not dominant
2011- akeem dent- 3rd round- no second round pick and no fourth round pick julio jones trade-
2012- no first round pick and no fourth round pick-
Now you see why you needed to hit on the Holmes pick? you can’t waste that high of a pick and miss when you don’t have a first and a fourth- and that’s why I am pissed- you watch this two playoff teams Cincinnatti and Baltimore their second and third team decisively whipped ours due to the poor drafting in the middle 3rd and later rounds-
A long season when you get into the playoffs- I can tell you right now we are weak at the DT position and the linebacker that is going to be a position of weakness- would have been nice to have drafted a stud linebacker for the middle with that third pick that could start or backup-
August 17th, 201211:31 am
Our DT pushed the pocket and got good push last night….have to disagree buckhead. I think our DT will be solid this year! However I do agree about that monster LT we choose! When will we see him hit the field? Is he still injured!?

@ STB4………………No I don’t and not worried about the Falcons Team as a whole this year at all…………………………………..are you ?
