080912 ATLANTA: Falcons head coach Mike Smith gives running back Jacquizz Rodgers a low five after he rushed for a touchdown and a 14-0 lead over the Ravens during second quarter action in Atlanta on Thursday, August 9, 2012. CURTIS COMPTON / CCOMPTON@AJC.COM
Jacquizz and James Rodgers split the return duties.
Jacquizz had three kickoff returns for 57 yards. James had 1 for 18.
“We were not happy with the way that we returned kicks last week,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said. “We did a good job this week. It was good to see that.”
Jacquizz Rodgers led the Falcons in rushing against the Bengals with four carries for 24 yards, including a 16-yard gain.
He also caught three passes, including a 22-yarder.
“Quizz is someone that we feel is a three down back,” Smith said. “He can come in a do the things that a three-down back does. He’s is not just a change of pace back.”

Was this originally a Twitter post? Why so short?
One more question, how do you know Smith is saying “Quizz” and not “Quiz?”

Quiz gives us much more of a dimensional offense than Turner. Teams have ZERO fear of Turner catch & runs. Turner can catch ‘em but he’ll get no YAC. Quiz creates all kinds of issues. Being too small is NOT one of them. His height is a plus. Quiz has YAC written all over him. Huge steal for the Falcons.

I said it last year and even more so now…Turner is slow..not a burner..Can’t use his size to break tackles..and can’t run north and south..and is too slow to run east and west…The team should have cut him and tried to work something out with MJD or just give it to Quizz and Snelling…I appreciate what he did for the team…but should be out now…we will go NOWHERE with him. Give his reps to someone who is a better player..with a no-quit attitude…

Turner caught a couple of screens in the last game too. It will be good if they can be versatile with all thier backs.
I hope Quizz can be a big part of the offense, but I like Snelling off of screens too. Turner just needs some space to work. Quizz is so small he can get through those very very very tiny spaces.

Turner is also the kind of guy who needs a few carries to get going. It’s the preseason no need to do too much with MT.
We want Turner to be the 2nd half battering ram this year after guys are tired of chasing Roddy, Harry and Julio.

DLed, let’s talk Turner. Last year of his contract, right? Is he half speed because it is preseason? Do you think the Birds tried to shop him around and got no interest? Teams could get him next year for a song………….UNLESS, he proves all of us wrong and plays like his life depended on it. I just don’t see him as a Falcon next year, but is he gonna coast this season…..sure has looked like it in the 2 preseason games. Turner the Burner, is he flaming out?

Anybody else impressed with Dominique Davis? Looks like we now have our qb for the future! This kid is exciting and fearless. Redman doesn’t impress me. He has lost confidence and it’s like blood in the water to hungy sharks. No since in prolonging the inevitable, cut him. Davis has the stones to play professional ball. He’s got the arm and is elusive. Mike Smith, please don’t let this kid get away. You’re looking at our future. This kid will fill the seats, mark my words…

Have to laugh at that one. So where are all the usual smart-a$$es? Nothing to say?
Saints losing to Jags in ANY game is too funny. So where’s all the usual conventional “wisdom?”

The title and content of this article seem unrelated. I was expecting to read more on Rodgers’ skills and durability to be an every down back.

Quizz is a late-round pick who has demonstrated nothing that is worthy of note. The exitement about his potential impact is unwarranted by his contributions thus far. Also, Turner is finished. It’s all up to Ryan in 2012. Yikes.

king daddy you are absolutley rite. This kid Davis has no fear. He is poised, has a strong arm, not afraid to throw it (JPW, REDMAN) and can lead the offense. and then he has the speed and elusiveness to make the first down to keep the drive going. Not sure why he had so many INTs as a senior because he seems very accurate. would help if the recievers could catch the ball

I’m not sure Quizz is our three down back. Maybe, maybe not. But that’s what we need–a three down back, not a third down back. There’s a difference.
