Franks needs to our PR not Douglas, even though he is electric we need him on our offense and not taking chance with him on ST.

Brian…I agree and been saying that since they starting playing around with the idea…DF showed talent in the return game. Leave him there and take jaquizz and Douglas out of the mix

Agree with you on both counts Rick. We need those guys more long term and they are way more important to the team on offense than anywhere else.

Agreed on both terms, Franks should be returning kickoffs & punts! I also hope that horrible qb play doesn’t limit Chase Coffman’s stats & ability to make our squad! I think that could be a huge pick up underneath the radar!

GM Dimitroff and HC Mike Smith, This depth chart is 99% identical to 2011 depth chart. We lose MLB Lofton, add CB Samuel and S Chris Hope on defense. Only change on offense is OL Konz on second team. If we are this good with so few changes we should be in the Super Bowl. Next year’s draft get studs at QB, RB, and MLB. Is our practice squad at least going to improve?

Also add stud pass rushing DE to 2013 draft.

We need some super star players to add to our roster. Draft, trade, or sign free agents that will win a Super Bowl. Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade, please.

@ Defense wins titles, I think the two new coordinators are going to do wonders for this team in itself. I don’t think we needed to make major changes within our personnel. It’s not the talent that we’re lacking. It was the coaches putting them in position to excel. I think we have that with Nolan and Koetter.

GM Dimitroff, Falcons and all teams must draft best players from SEC. That is if they want to honestly improve. Tom, you must outdraft all other to get us better. Our last draft just will not get it done. I am sorry because I want The Falcons to be Champions. I am a Georgian and support my home team. Several NFL teams killed us and got better than us because they outdrafted the heck out of us. Com’on Man!! Get those genius scouts out of wimp territory and assign one to each SEC school and bring me the beef. Dang

@DR. J, l agree we have talent but would state every draft should add at least 3 starters. There are 32 teams, so we are talking top 96. Falcons would get 3 of top 85 players where we have been slotted lately.
I also am very enthusiastic about Nolan and Koetter and philosophical changes and play calling ability. We fans should expect our teams to have the best coaches. I was impressed with our first team offense and defense last thursday, though I only seen highlights. Looks like we have no depth. Thus we need more talent. Second and Third teams got beat 31 – 3.

Dent is out this week. Looks like we are in for another great season. I predicted 12 wins last season and fell 2 short. I’m predicting 12 wins again this season. I love our defense with the new coordinator and addition of Samual. I think we will be much improved. On offense, we sure looked good last week. I want to see more before I get too excited. Looks great so far… GO FALCONS!!!

Haven’t you heard Michael M? SP has a small office behind that poster where he’s managing the every day aspects of camp…. and if you think that SP isn’t having a hand in the game plans and play calls this year….you’re in even more denial than you sound. The head sets that Brees will have this year, will all be tied in to SP who’ll be situated in a windowless room next to the pressbox that’s equipped with all the telemetry he needs to manage the games.

Target the middle of that defense!

Over the past 5 exhibition games….in the 2nd half of games….the Falcons have scored 16 pts. Thats 3 field goals and 1 rushing TD. Thats an average of just over 3 pts per half. Thats a problem and its easy to see what the problem is. Our backup qbs are sub par. Hopefully….Smith and TD will hold Redmon and Wilson’s feet to the fire and replace them this year if they continue to struggle.
You’re the qb….you are responsible for leading the offense….it’s your job to move the team down field and score points every once in a while. Bottom line…if Ryan gets hurt….we are toast.

Rico Council and Peyton Thompson looked good vs the Ravens. I’d like to see them get some good work earlier in the game to see how they stack up, maybe with the 2nd team. Massoquoi looked really good, he was getting consistent pressure. I’d love to see him get some work with the 1st team. And Cliff Matthews belongs on the left side. MaxxFalcon out!

I’ll be glad when the regular Season gets started…..enough of this preseason madness, instead of 4 preseason games they should have just two and add two more to the regular season………..the Saints can then sort out the bottom of the cellar in the NFC South later.

@Jason B. I hear ya! I dont understand it either. Sometimes continuity is NOT a good thing. The guy looked dreadful. First game or not…if you’ve been around for 13 years…you should be able to score on a 2nd tier defense
@Mark I wasnt last year but the guy did start coming on toward the end of the year. Let’s give him some time…he had a few booming kicks last year. Rookie jitters should be gone. Leg looked strong at training camp from what I saw

Sometimes I think the Falcon higher ups are full of it. Dominque Franks did return duties in college. In my opionion he is as good or better than eric weems was ( I know you guys say weems was a pro bowler) but honestly weems wasn’t that good. He often fair caught punts when he should have returned them. Anywho Franks a a decent corner with size and had he been picked by someone like Green Bay he would be much better and maybe a really good corner by now. For the life of me I think Mike Smith does not know how to get the best out of what he has.

Once you draft these guys in the 2-4th rounds you got to fing a way to put them on the field. Lastly I don;t understand how you put any of your starters on special teams. Once you determined Dent to be your projected starter he had no business covering punts. If you can’t find guys who are late round picks that are hungry enough to make the team then you must be a poor evaluator of talent. Absolutely none of our starters should be on special teams. In the past I;’ve seen Grimes, Lofton, Biermen, Moore all on specials teams as starters. Makes no sense, absolutely no sense.
