Atlanta Falcons: RB Robbie Frey released
Running back Robbie Frey, who’s been out with a foot injury, reached an injury settlement and was released by the Falcons on Saturday.
Frey, 6-0, 203 pounds, was signed by the Falcons as a college free agent on April 30, 2012.
He played in 12 games in his senior year at Kutztown, and posted a team-high 1,185 rushing yards on 189 carries in 2011. His 11 touchdowns were the most by a Kutztown back since 2002. He played three seasons at Connecticut prior to transferring to Kutztown for his senior season.

They left a kid on the board in the 5th round who the New York Jets swooped in and picked up, see Terrance Ganaway(Baylor U) 6″0″ 240LBS. This kid will probably be in the National Football League for 5-10 years, and be highly productive. Watch some of the Baylor tape. This kid is Big, powerful, and fats(4.5–4.6 40). No known Baggage either.

You heard it here 1st, Michael Turner will be injured at some point during the season. That only leaves you with Jason Snellings as your short yardage power back. I think that the Atlanta Falcons Organization have “Sight” but ” No Vision.”

I agree. Not the template that wins in the playoffs or against good football teams, however, It is the identity that Coach Mike Smith and the Atlanta Falcons have chosen to go with. “That’s how they roll” They did not or have bought into the NFL’s new “paradigm”. of how to play offense.

The kid Frey got caught up in Randy Edsel’s selling the UConn down the river for the Maryland job… Too bad he could get healthy and try to earn a practice squad spot… It’s a cruel business!

Thats sad to be trying to go pro and have a injury happen but it is chances you take in life to get ahead and make it. sometimes you win and get a spot on a team roster and go on and make a career with it and sometimes you crash and burn and I hate it for the kid

Are you mad because the FALCONS released a rookie, untried RB from small school in Pa. ????? Some people seem like they just want the Birds to get young???? That means starting ALL OVER! Stop calling negatives for Turner, we need him to stay injury free as well as others. Some want the Falcons to improve, some just want to complain. There will be plenty of RB’s out there before Final Cuts who will probaly be better then that guy.

Reprinted without permission: “First and foremost, Terrance Ganaway is an absolute load at running back. At 6′0″, 245 pounds, Ganaway is a monster, bullying back who has the size to be an effective short-yardage runner in the NFL. He might not project as an every-down player because he offers little more than straight-line, pile-moving running, but he can be an effective weapon for a team that needs to add toughness to its running game.
In other words, if you need three yards, Ganaway can get you three yards. If you need seven yards, Ganaway can get you three yards.
Ganaway was only a one-year starter at Baylor, so it is possible he could still develop an all-around game. But his lack of versatility might hinder him at first. For a big back, he doesn’t grade well in the blocking game and has little-to-no ability to be effective as a pass-catcher out of the backfield.
He ran a disappointing 4.67 at the scouting combine, but improved that to a 4.47 at Baylor’s pro day. He probably rates somewhere in between those two numbers on a consistent basis, which isn’t bad for a 245-pounder.”

A 245 lb, 6 foot tall running back, 4.67 speed,….well an object at rest … Sounds like the ideal falcan’t prototype.
8 p.m. Eastern, you’ll get a chance to watch the NFCS Division champs pick up where they left off, but don’t expect DB9 to play long, just a couple of series, then you wimps (Esquire and Michael M.) can get back to watching the vault competition finals on NBC.
So you kool-aid addicts later, I got a long day ahead.
