110805 Norcoss : Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner (center) tries to push through during the Friday Night Lights at Norcross High School in Norcross on Thursday, August 4, 2011. This year's "Kia Motors Friday Night Lights" is open to the public and admission is free at Peachtree Ridge High tonight. FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons coach Mike Smith expects six full-speed series in the team scrimmage Friday night at Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee.
“There will be some live contact tomorrow,” Smith said. “The entire session won’t be live, but there’ll be enough opportunities for the guys to go out and compete. It’s one of the most fun things for our guys, believe it or not, they love to go back to the high school fields, and get on the grass and play in a small arena. They’re going to get a chance to do that on Friday, and come back and do it on Monday up in Dalton. We’re real excited to go up to Peachtree Ridge.”
However, the quarterbacks will be off limits in the event. They will wear non-contact jerseys.
“Part of the [scrimmage] will be controlled,” Smith said. “The quarterbacks will not be live the entire practice. It’ll be a controlled practice for about the first 40 snaps. We’re planning on having about six series of full speed. What we mean by full speed is everyone but the quarterbacks.”
A score will be kept for the scrimmage, but point totals will go beyond touchdowns. Points will be awarded, to the defense and the offense, for a variety of accomplishments such as three-and-outs, turnovers, two consecutive first downs, and driving the ball inside the 25-yard line. There will be no field goals.
A look ahead:

I guess too early … forgot the ‘L’.
DOL, what is the sense nationally? … Are folks down on the Falcons due to the playoff flop, esp. since some had us pre-season favorites for SB ……….. or is it just the reality of not having won a playoff game under Smitty and that the pundits are dubious of any tangible improvement?

Oh yeah…..Just ignore the ones that irritate you. They are here to irritate and they seem to succeed. If you do not acknowledge them, their power over you is diminished.

We had some serious injuries in years past at this event, Kerry Meier comes to mind. Who else?
Seen, you seem to know the girls gym well, you still got those peep holes in the showers? Of course that’s for you when the Falcons are in there isn’t it.

Marcus, I think a lot of people are down on them for the playoff failures, but perhaps moreso because instead of changes they pretty much stuck to thier guns and resigned the same guys this offseason.
Dimitroff believes in continuity and growth in that manner so the only substantial changes are really the coordnators, Peter Konz (R) on the line and Asante Samuel.
It’s a philosophy that has worked well for many very good teams over the years Pittsburg etc so we will see if it can work here this fall.
I think he’s a little too attached to some guys I think he missed on but maybe some of those draft misses will finally put it all together this year and play at a higher level. Let’s get through the evening healthy.

“Crave” to see? In what fantasy world do you live? No one outside of New Orleans “craves” to see the Saints. Now im sure youll come back with “And you think people outside of Atlanta crave to see the Falcons?” My answer is no, and that’s perfectly okay with me, because I never claimed otherwise. The only ones craving to see the Saints are Goodell and other NFL officials waiting to hand out more punishments

What an honor for the hall of famers to be recognized by the dirty, cheating disgraces of football. They should call this the Famers meet the Flamers.
