BIRDLAND — Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, in an apparent snub by NFL players, apparently has not made the league’s popular Top 100 list.
The Top 10 players of last season will be revealed tonight at 8 p.m. on the NFL Network.
Host Lindsay Rhodes will be joined by NFL Network analysts Warren Sapp and Marshall Faulk to recap the 90 players that have been revealed thus far and discuss who will be tabbed the best player in the NFL.
The list – which has Tim Tebow rated 95th and Peyton Manning rated 50th even though he didn’t play last season — was voted on by the players themselves.
Running back Michael Turner (88), wide receiver Roddy White (65) and tight end Tony Gonzalez are the only Falcons already named. White was not real pleased with his selection, either.
Despite throwing for a franchise-record 4,153 yards last season and guiding the Falcons to the playoffs for the second consecutive season for the first time in franchise history, Ryan apparently has not made the

@rollo lawson-So the Falcons should have waited for Vick to get out of jail instead of getting a new QB?

Matt Ryan has not been given “every weapon by Falcons management”
To his credit, they did the same thing under Vick.
Plenty of amazing skill players, that’s not an issue it’s almost never been an issue.
About half of the offensive linemen that had jobs last year with this team DON’T belong in the NFL.
Baker and Reynolds were abysmal. Mike Johnson never showed up. Even the decent players weren’t great.
This team rarely wins, because they rarely employ linemen playing in a scheme worth a darn when they have a QB capable of winning anything.
45 years of GM mistakes or coaching mistakes or bad draft picks.
Matt Ryan is a decent NFL QB, He’s been very good. Most NFL players are morons, proof of the fact that they put Tim Tebow in the top 100 (went from QB to Special Teams). Cam Newton’s team went 6-10 and the Cowboys have been hot garbage in the playoffs since 1996.
For that matter tell me when Devin Hester becomes a viable anything other than kick returner.
NFL players can’t even be trusted to read their own union deal, how could they know who the best 100 in thier own league would be?

Matt Ryan actually produced more than Peyton Manning in his first 4 seasons than Manning did in his first 4. So comparison isn’t really that funny. Peyton Manning also started like 0-3, or 0-4 in the postseason but he’s a Super bowl winner and a future HOFamer.

@ls1z28chris-Actually I’m a Steelers fan, nice try. All I’m saying is don’t write the book on Matt Ryan just yet. Remember Saints fans the only reason you have Brees is because the Dolphins and Saban the genius , signed Culpepper instead of Brees. As soon as you little sAINTS get multiple SB trophies come talk to me.

Last I heard, football is a team sport, and individual accolades, while interesting for the fan, are absolutely irrelevant. This poll is less important than being named to the Pro Bowl…which means I have just wasted 1 minute of my precious life addressing zilch.

“Something that’s sorely lacking from this article is that this list was voted on by the players.”
This is the part that is very important. THIS LIST WAS VOTED ON BY THE PLAYERS. Players obviously have realized that Matt Ryan is not all that he is cracked up to be. The guy can’t throw the ball deep. Even Tim Tebow can do that. Matt has probably one of the best receiving corps in the league, and cant throw the ball down the field. Players watch film, and the film does not lie. Players have no reason to not like Matt Ryan, they will only tell the truth.

You guys say it is a popularity contest, but Ryan is more popular than Flacco, but once again Flacco made the list. Could it have anything to do with his 4th straight trip to the playoff, 5 playoff wins, and 2nd championship game?

COACH, you’re a fool. That fourth and inches would have been made if our Oline was worth a crap last year. Open your eyes. MR was playing with a patchwork oline and still managed to put up his best numbers yet. Peyton Manning lost the first three times in the playoffs as well. He is primed for sucess, I mean the man actually gets a camp with his players due to there being no lockout this year. Me for one, as a true fan, am excited as heck….GO FALCONS and screw the media.

How can it be a snub if the guy didn’t deserve to be selected? Whoever is pushing Ryan as an elite NFL player is out of their mind. He’s done absolutely nothing in the playoffs. Face it fellow Falcon fans – Ryan isn’t a top 10 QB, and definitely not a top 100 player. Until he stops melting down in the playoffs, he’ll be an average QB at best.

Really people? Peyton Manning’s early teams SUCKED. Matt Ryan was drafted into a situation where Michael Turner was one of the most dominant runners in the NFL during Ryan’s rookie season. The Falcons rushing offense was Top 5 for like 3 straight seasons wasn’t it? In 2011 we decide to go Air Falcons and you see the drop off. The Falcons recent success has been built on the running game to open up the pass. Now that we’re trying to go pass to open up the run it just isn’t working against quality defenses.
You can say I’m bashing but I’m not trying to, I’m simply stating the truth.

My opinion hasn’t changed since Vick was here. The teams success is almost completely tied in to how the front 5 play.
When they finally produce a talented group that can play upfront, success will come in the playoffs.
Compare all the other good teams and this one, and you’ll see the deficiencies. We can’t rush the passer and we can’t stop anyone from rushing the passer.

The “he hasn’t won anything” argument is incredibly stupid in this context. About 75% of the people on that list haven’t won a Super Bowl, or likely even a playoff game. Romo is a far bigger bust in late season and playoff games than Ryan. And what has Stafford or Newton won?? NOTHING. That criteria is nearly insignificant when voting on Top 100 players.
The simple fact is this list is a popularity contest voted on by the players, so it’s going to have weird anomalies and glaring omissions. Nothing to read into it at all. Ryan is probably the 10th or 11th best QB in the league and the 50th-60th best player. None of that matters in the end if our team can’t come together and WIN this year.

Again, I’ll restate that I’m not a big Ryan fan, but he has a 43-19 record has a starter. Over the last two years, he has a 57-21 TD-INT ratio. Those are pretty solid facts,
I’d probably put him in the 75-90 range. Not elite, but good. The lack of postseason wins keeps him from being higher, but it shouldn’t bump him off the list completely when, as others have noted, there are other QB’s on the list who have also not won playoff games.

Matt Ryan is an elie QB look at how he compares to newly claimed elite Eli Manning comparison for average season stats over their careers. Making the NFL top 100 means nothing and by the way Eli was left off the list last year!!
Eli Manning
.579 winning percentage
3788 yards
25 touchdowns
17 interceptions
9 fumbles
58.4 completion percentage
82.1 QB rating
Matt Ryan:
.693 winning percentage

11 interceptions
5 fumbles
60.9 completion percentage
88.4 rating

keepinitreal and Ken,
I do not care about stats. I am a Falcons fan who wants to see the Falcons win a Super Bowl. Comparing Ryan to Eli Manning is laughable because Eli has 2 SB championships and didn’t ride coat tails to win them. His play in the postseason was equally as important as the entire defensive unit in winning those titles. To be frank, Ryan doesn’t even need to win the Super Bowl as a Falcons but he does need to regularly win playoff games to earn the level of respect you guys desire.
Is it more important to you to pound chest of Ryan’s stats while the Falcons fall short or have Ryan post modest stats and have the Falcons win? The Falcons need to reload their running game if they want to get back on track. If you want to see what happens to teams who depend too much on the passing game look at the Patriots lately, and Ryan is not even close to Brady.

You that are one here sayin that this isn’t a snub are idiots. Popularity contests are all lists like this are. If you knew HOW the players voted you’d obviously know that’s exactly what the top 100 is. This is a HUGE snub and it’s not the only injustice the falcons suffered in this list. Here’s my evidence for you morons that need it. Clay matthews makes the list and pro bowl with 3.5 sacks. Spoon had more as a 4-3 linebacker that does more than blitz. Darren McFadden made the list after missin more than half the year and yet mike turner is 88? Lmao. Victor Cruz, mike Wallace and Hakeem nicks above roddy white? Uhm neither of them produce like roddy. Dropped balls and all. How is Aj green on the list at all if Julio Jones wasn’t good enough to be on it? Their stats were almost a mirror image of eah other??? Face it! The fact is that if Matt got snubbed. A playoff victory doesn’t make Tebow better! Phillip rivers has declined his play and is on the list. Even Vick got snubbed and called this list a joke. Those of u that refuse to acknowledge the truth are completely ignorant to the FACTS. Crawl back into the various trash blogs you came from if you wanna be biased or throw out opinions without merit.
