BIRDLAND — Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, in an apparent snub by NFL players, apparently has not made the league’s popular Top 100 list.

The Top 10 players of last season will be revealed tonight at 8 p.m. on the NFL Network.

Host Lindsay Rhodes will be joined by NFL Network analysts Warren Sapp and Marshall Faulk to recap the 90 players that have been revealed thus far and discuss who will be tabbed the best player in the NFL.

The list – which has Tim Tebow rated 95th and Peyton Manning rated 50th even though he didn’t play last season — was voted on by the players themselves.

Running back Michael Turner (88), wide receiver Roddy White (65) and tight end Tony Gonzalez are the only Falcons already named. White was not real pleased with his selection, either.

Despite throwing for a franchise-record 4,153 yards last season and guiding the Falcons to the playoffs for the second consecutive season for the first time in franchise history, Ryan apparently has not made the

BSG3003 – Before Matt Ryan got to Atlanta, you had a running back taking snaps. In that context – you now have a QB who actually passes – it isn’t hard to see someone breaking franchise passing records.

Look at the comments here from Falcons fans. From season ticket holders. They are prepared to give Ryan two years, three at the most, under this new offense regime. If he doesn’t succeed then, after six years running Atlanta into mediocrity, who is going to snap him up to be their starting quarterback? No one, that is who. And that is why Matt Ryan will be a backup quarterback in three years.

OMG Falcons fans need to get it together. Matt Ryan is not *good* and without a new coach the team will continue to be 1) boring 2) decent

They can’t beat good teams. Period.

First of all, the list is not meant to be a top 100 for last year as stated in the article. I’m not trying to go in on you like @Rut but the list is a prospective look of the top 100 players for next season (2012), as determined by the players. Obviously, last years performance would be an indication of future performance but . . . I’m just sayin’

Second of all, the list is more than a little bit suspect anyway. No way Tebow should be on the list.

Third of all, suspect or not, Matt Ryan doesn’t belong on the list. Get over yourselves Falcons fans.

Oh, and to @Wyatt Earp. Ray Lewis was never, ever even accused of being the person who stabbed anyone. Get your facts straight. And I am by no means a fan of Ray Lewis but jeez, just because this is the internet shouldn’t mean you can allege that someone stabbed someone else without knowing what you’re talking about.

Something that’s sorely lacking from this article is that this list was voted on by the players. Oh and I love the “Packers Fan” reacting to the 20-17 loss…by fan you mean A. Rodgers? WTF.

Need more info on how this list was created – did all players vote? What was actually asked? Was it by position etc? Come OL give us the scoop. As it stands it looks like nothing more than a high school popularity contest. And has about as much validity.

all in all, it’s about winning games. there are no lombardi trophies for nice guys, philanthropist, tv commercials, habit homes, and the like…these are all GREAT things to do, but in the NFL, winning is the bottom line. reminds me of a dog my pappy had..he was smart, fit and healthy, but he couldn’t flush a bird if you tossed him on top of it. As a dog, he was tops. but he couldn’t do the job. a qb that can’t convert on 4th and inches? an oc that won’t even call plays that try? ok, maybe the o line is lacking, but come on, a qb is the master of the ship. i say we’ll spend this season bailing out the boat, not dancing in the endzone….

If you guys were not so blind you would notice that Turner’s production is slowly eroding, and coincidentally so has Ryan’s failures in the playoffs. Turner has been a work horse and now it’s breaking down his body.

The NFL and the media tried to build Ryan as the second coming of Peyton, but he national media has seen they were more angry at the previous qb in Atlanta than they were in really thinking Ryan was anything more than a game manager.

Don’t give me that hasn’t won a playoff game crap…neither has Matthew Stafford and he’s #41. Matt Ryan was ranked #52 last season. At least Matt Ryan is always healthy, which is more than I can say for Stafford. Yet Stafford is there. I don’t get it.

GT4Life (the Original)

Matt Ryan has been given every weapon by Falcoons management. There’s no reason for him not to succeed. A HOF TE was brought in, a big powerful runner was brought in, traded the draft for Julio (when the QB before Ryan was told time and time again that an elite WR in the 1st round was out of the question), moving up in the draft to pick quality O-linemen and adding more offensive weapons every year, and he still can’t lead the team to a playoff win. The Falcons fan base have what they wanted and mediocre QB that looks the part.

Falcons were outscored by like 51 points in their final two losses(at NO, at NYG) and some fans think this team is all of a sudden going to be great. Guess every team’s fans feel optimism in late June………..after all, it helps sell tickets, corporate suites etc. This team isn’t going anywhere this season, and Blank will have tough decisions about what to do with Dimwit, Smith, and possibly Ryan too.

If this snub does not fuel him to producing a stellar/MVP-like 2012 season (regular and post season), he is apparently not the “great” QB the local media has annointed him to be. Plain and simple!!!! My question to you is do you think Ryan has the HEART to take something like this and convert it into positive energy to show his peers they made a huge whiff by not putting him on the list (i.e. no RESPECT)? or (and I know you have to write all nice like sometimes so I’ll read between the lines.lol) do you think this hurt “his feelings” going into the year? Matt Ryan is the only QB to lead this team to back to back winning seasons and we haven’t had a losing season since he’s been here and I don’t think we ever will as long as he stays healthy. With him at QB, count the Falcons in the playoffs year in and year out…but the thing is, he’s going to breakthrough and get that win in the postseason.
