061912 FLOWERY BRANCH: Falcons linebacker Robert James covers on a play during the first day of mini-camp in Flowery Branch on Tuesday, June 19, 2012. CURTIS COMPTON / CCOMPTON@AJC.COM
FLOWERY BRANCH — Linebacker Robert James, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2008 draft out of Arizona State, is getting a close look at minicamp.
He’ll get a chance to show that he’s a speedy linebacker, who can possibly play in passing situations.
“I think both him and Spencer Adkins are guys that are fighting right now and have been around,” defensive assistant Mark Collins said. “They understand the system. They understand their roles. It should be good competition in the fall.”

If their linebacker unit was solid, these guys wouldn’t even be in the discussion. Good competition! LOL! It’s a symptom.

SeenThisB4 it seems as if your Saint LB group might be lacking just a tad. Since bouty boy Vilma will be sitting at home this season your bad boys will have to come up with a brand new unitl By the way what the heck is taking so long to sign Brees, they keep messing around with him and your fans will be breaking out those garbage sacks to put on your head again.

It’s still good to be a back up ..at least you still be part of 53 rosters that’s how i see it.

Aints fans must be really bored, given their team’s lack of ethics sending them into mediocrity. How else do you explain their constant presence on Falcon message boards and newspaper forums.
As for James, I think this is a guy Pires is holding onto b/c he feels responsible for giving TD and Smitty for taking James in the 5th. The guy has been a bust. He should be cut to allow room for younger guys to grow.

Just how much more of a look does this guy need? Drafted in 2008 they should know what this guys skill set is by now. Clearly he has not been good enough to make the 53 man roster in 4 years LOL. SMFH on this one.

Yeah, I’d give him a VERY close look….I mean, if he hasn’t cut the mustard by now, I’d be looking closely at him walking out the door….just sayin’.

Robert is a gym rat. That’s his problem IMO. He needs to get in the film room more instead of constantly working on his massive frame. He could be so much faster…

Seen this….come on now, worry about your team. You have already made your point that the Falcons are not n the same league with the Saints. You sound like a primary school child Get some new material or go somewhere else, you are starting to bore us.

Our LB unit is so solid, we could afford to toss you some help…but you’ll quickly find that the help we gave you is useless in 3rd downs against the pass…
