FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons starting defensive tackle Corey Peters suffered a foot injury this offseason and is expected back by the start of training camp, according to the team.

Peters, a third-round pick in the 2010 NFL draft (83rd overall), has started 30 of 32 regular-season games.

Last season, he had three of the team’s 33 sacks, scored a touchdown on a 13-yard fumble return against Jacksonville and had an interception against Carolina. He finished with 33 tackles, two passes defensed and six tackles for losses.

With Peters set to miss the rest of the organized team activities and the mandatory minicamp (June 19-21), defensive tackle Peria Jerry will pick up most of his work alongside Jonathan Babineaux.

In addition to Peters, rookie tackle Lamar Holmes (toe), linebacker Stephen Nicholas (foot) and long snapper Joe Zelenka (leg) were held out of Tuesday’s opening OTA session.

At 6′4 302lbs I think Travian may be more of the prototypical 3-4 DE more so than a nose. It’s mini camp and training camp, everybody will get reps. Travian was a 7th Rd pick so let’s see what the kid has before we start cutting guys for him.

Two or three years ago, SeenThisB4 would post as multiple incarnations (at times as many as six or seven.)

Hiram can’t impersonate anyone else because his caps button is broken.

Ergo, they are not the same person.

@ SeenThis– No they are not and I know that for a fact . Joe Tess , Really and about 5 other screen names are the same person . Just look at the 5ht grade atempt to impersonate them and DOL is to lazy to do anything like letting one screen name go and blocking any other E-mail address that tries to use someone elses screen name . C’mon DOL , it ain’t rocket science , not that anyone is accusing you of that. Certainly a left wing org. of AJC ’s size has I T people !

And as everything left wingers do to be fair , they don’t have the brain power to see that it’s also overflowing with stupidity . I’m sure this post will be blocked eventually because it’s not fair that some people read it !

No, I am not suggesting cutting Peria because of Travian…I am suggesting cutting Peria because by now he should have shown something to represent his draft position. We really need to cut some of this dead weight that goes seaon to season and brings nothing to the table. Again, I hope you are correct and Peria proves me wrong. I would love to see him step it up.

@Firsttimer

Don’t worry if Peria Jerry does not step up this season I’m pretty sure it will be his last in Atlanta and probably the league. He may get a 1 yr deal somewhere after that but it will spell the end of his career. Right now I see T Robertson as more of a threat to Carlton Powell’s practice squad spot than a threat to Jerry. If Jerry is cut the Falcons will draft higher than 7th Rd to replace him. Jerry did have a terrible injury to his knee so IMO the kid gets one more year to show something.

Firsttimer, we seem to have a lot in common. It’d be nice if we can chat over drinks sometime, may be go for a walk? It’s hard to find true fans that I can be on the same page with these days. How about giving me your number so we can meet up sometime? I can even invite my pseudonym buddies: Roger Goodell, Tim Tebow, Frank Sinatra, Norm Von Brocklin just to name a few. What do you say.

Oh and it’s really a terrible thing that this left wing AJC is letting everyone post as everyone else. I’ve cried about this to Mr. Ledbetter on numerous occasions even getting into an emotional rant about leaving these blogs for good! I’ve been accused of having PMS because of this. Ha Ha. Yet he ignores it…I’m still waiting for your response on the audio engineer position DOL.

1. Ledbetter has little to nothing to do with the policing of the name stealers. 2. Send a note to the online editors, they’ll weed ‘em for the most part (protect your brand as they say in copyright law). 3. It is a tech issue IP jumping, there are a few immature ones who still can’t crack a joke or rebut without using the “user name” tag do it… That is the height of weakness in AJC blogging…

Jerry had better banked that coin, he’ll never see its like again!

I say the NFC South 2012 final standings will end up in alphatbetical order:

1st Atlanta Falcons
2nd Carolina Panthers
3rd New Orleans Saints
4th Tampa Bay Bucs

That’s it. Falcons getting to NFC Championship game.

firsttimer – an article below on T. Robertson 7th round pick 6′4″ 302. Hardly a huge DT. I’m hoping Jerry will come around too but with caution.

Robertson has good size and arm length with some growth potential. He is an above-average athlete with good initial quickness, lower-body flexibility and short-area lateral agility along the line-of-scrimmage. However, he struggles to get free from blocks and is easily removed from his gap. He has trouble against double-team blocks. He plays with his eyes up, but does not make many plays. He is most effective as a one-gap penetrator. He must defeat the blocker with his initial move to have a chance to make a play. As a pass rusher, he shows little ability or production. He gets little push with his bull rush and struggles to get himself free. A team might see Robertson as a late seventh-round prospect to develop a backup with the potential to improve in time. He fits best in a 4-3 scheme, where he can be a one-gap defender.
