FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons starting defensive tackle Corey Peters suffered a foot injury this offseason and is expected back by the start of training camp, according to the team.

Peters, a third-round pick in the 2010 NFL draft (83rd overall), has started 30 of 32 regular-season games.

Last season, he had three of the team’s 33 sacks, scored a touchdown on a 13-yard fumble return against Jacksonville and had an interception against Carolina. He finished with 33 tackles, two passes defensed and six tackles for losses.

With Peters set to miss the rest of the organized team activities and the mandatory minicamp (June 19-21), defensive tackle Peria Jerry will pick up most of his work alongside Jonathan Babineaux.

In addition to Peters, rookie tackle Lamar Holmes (toe), linebacker Stephen Nicholas (foot) and long snapper Joe Zelenka (leg) were held out of Tuesday’s opening OTA session.

Second. (First in your hearts.) How do you injure yourself in the off-season? You make it through a couple NFL seasons and then hurt yourself at the BBQ? In the park? Playing with your kids? Pick-up basketball? Or do they not like OTA’s?

No big deal. What’s a veteran defensive tackle going to learn between now and preseason…nothing.

Keep him freash.

That will give your Peria Jerry more reps and increase his risk exposure to what he does best: Get injured! LOL!

I agree Corey’s. The only real thing is learning the new system but I think he’ll have enough mental reps and as long as its cool before training camp he’ll be fine.lol

Seen…I dont like you but you’ve become a part of the family we let sit at the kiddie table. ;) I actually totally agree with you. When I read this I said I hope Jerry can step up b/c he’s injury prone and this is pretty much his last shot.lol

Well SirReal, this isn’t exactly Game of Thrones, although the Saints sit at the Iron Throne. I’m not part of the family! But, I’ll let the Hatfields and McCoys handle the blood feud for now. Come training camp though: It’ll be bounty season on falcan’ts.

You are hereby subpoenaed to appear in my office, Monday June 4th, 2012 at 10:00am. This is to discuss your collusion in the bounty case. Bring your P.J.’s and toothbrush; you may be gone for a long time.

Absolutely I am going to make light of bounties! What’s the big deal Falcon Jim? Would you prefer I made light of the Afghan war? Or how ’bout the jump in unemployment to 8.2%? Or how ’bout the mushrooming of the national deficit? Oh, I know: 4th and 6 inches on your own 29 in overtime! Now that’s “light” and a bit short to boot!

Yeah, I’m going to make light of the bounty issue, alongside of the unjustified penalties it spawned.

And hey Roger Goodell: You know what you can do with your subpoena.

Can’t agree with you. This is a new defensive system and schemes. We need all of our veteran’s in there learning it and practicing it.

Great, we’re already dealing with injuries yet again, seems like it gets harder and harder to keep guys on the field with each year that passes. Back in the day, I don’t remember so many guys going down with injuries each year. Hope this early one doesn’t mean we are going to have as many as we did last season!!

It makes one consider how someone with such promise (Peria Jerry) seems to just not get it. I’m sure all of us athletic peons think that with millions in incentives we would all excel. The NFL is probably a lot tougher than we can ever imagine.

Good luck to Jerry. I agree, from what I’ve read, Travian sounds like some sort of superman. (Exaggeration is rampant in pre-season.)

I heard Drew Brees is talking to ESPN about a job if the taint’s don’t give him a long term deal before pre season. I’m sure he knows it will be open season on him since the taint’s finally used up their katrina pity card. Why do you think the scum in the front office in that cesspool called new orleans wants to force Brees to take a one year deal? They know all their players have targets on their heads and Brees will be going down often. Hmmmmm the same could be said for all new orleans fans.

I hope you are on the money about Peria, that would be a tremendous plus. I just think that Nolan is looking for that big 3-4 stud and Peria does not fit the bill. So, why not get Travian the reps since he is the only true nose tackle, (stature wise), that we have.

Dude , whoever you are , and you ain’t Hiramsaint , you ought to go get a life . Hiramsaint may pi$$ us off but he’s not a second rate pretender like you are . How would you know anything about New Orleans anyway? You sure don’t make enough money to go anywhere . Just as Atlanta has it’s beautiful spots , it also has it’s putrid ones -probably where you live . Anyways , all cities are the same , New Orleans included -I’ve actually been there many times. You really ought to try and be yourself or perhaps you have and didn’t like who you were, thats understandable. Go find a boyfriend or something , I’m sure you must have some talent you could find profitable
