Is Jonathan Massaquoi on vacation or something? Let’s get him signed! He needs to be on the field. I have high hopes for him making an impact this year! Maybe…..

I LOVE the new CBA and Rookie Wage Scale. This is exactly how college kids need to be paid coming into the NFL before the prove themselves.

Bradie Ewing signed a four-year deal worth $2.28 million vs. Ovie who was set to make close to $3 million for just this season coming off of a bad knee injury. Nice!

They should put those signing bonuses in an account (that earns interest) and never touch them until they retire.

@seenthisb4, why is it too early? they have a wage scale, its not exactly like there is much negotiating room on either side. So whats the purpose of waiting to sign the exact same contract now or in 2 weeks or a month. your ignorance is astounding.

@MMQB: You are correct, the Saints aren’t worried about signing their franchise QB too early. Seems like you’re more worried about it. Or is it, that you’re desperately hoping that Brees sits out the year? You’re probably counting down the minutes to the signing deadline in July. I guess if I were a falcan’t fan, that’s what I would be beseeching God for. But, rest assured mmqb, I will affirm that Drew will get signed to a long term contract, be the highest paid QB in the history of the league, and end up retiring as a Saint; after several more years of pummelling the falcan’ts into submission.

So yeah MMQB, I know that the Saints aren’t pressing to get Drew signed, and I am not in the least bit concerned, cause I know they will, in due time, in due time.

@1eyedJack: The best Drew Brees play last year? Yeah, you know it: on the pass where he broke Marino’s passing record, when I and everyone else in the Superdome knew he was going to pass, when the ESPN announcers knew he was going to pass, when everybody watching on television at home knew he was going to pass, when the falcan’t defense knew he was going to pass: What did he do? He passed! Broke the record while simultaneously scoring a touchdown, on your team. Warms the cackles of my heart. LOL! And the best part: You remember it too! Get your handkerchiefs ready, all of you. LOL!

@ SeenThis B4

Seldom right and wrong again. I didn’t even know when the deadline was and I do suspect the Aints will sign him soon. The problem is the front office has created an issue where one should have never existed. That “Magic” relationship is forever damaged no matter how slightly and with your lousy defense and coaching situation you need all the good will you can get. Get ready for thud.

Delbert D.

May 18th, 2012

It is possible that Brees is fed up enough with this Saints mess to sit out the season. If that happens, does he automatically retain his franchise player tag for 2013?

SeenThisB4

May 18th, 2012
7:24 pm

@MMQB: The Saints front office hasn’t created any issue, except in your mind, and in the minds of reporters and bloggers that don’t have a stake in the management of player contracts. This is going to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest contract in league history, so they should not only be deliberate and calculating about it, the last thing they need is to react to public pressure and perceptions. Loomis has never, ever made a stupid player personnel blunder, and I am sure he is not about to start. And when Drew signs the richest contract in league history, he’s going to have a huge smile on his face.

As for our coaching situation, the Saints are not only deep on the roster, they are deep at the coaching ranks to boot. The command years of experience together and knowledge of the game. The Saints won 14 games last year with a mediocre defense, and have made several additions during this offseasen to augment it while weakening yours by signing one of your better defenders. They are going to pick up right were they left off at. But, me saying it won’t convince you, I’ll let them do it for me in the fall.

It’s great to see the rookies all signed and ready for training camp. That way they will be able to concentrate on football. There is going to be quite a competition on the O-Line this year and I think we will come out far ahead of last year. It takes a while for the O-Line to gel so I’m glad to see them all in camp. I hope for his sake, that Massaquoi gets signed soon so he can get some reps and maybe make the team.

Mr. hiram, never too late to repent, just get on your knees. (Sorry for that, I guess you are used to being on your knees, just a different context.)

Why is that saints fans continue to post on an AJC Falcons page? Hey Saints fans Karma is a b**tch and yeah you guys got all of the Katrina love but now since the covers have been pulled back on your classless organization now you want to cry about injustice. Your dumb organization was warned several times to stop but you didn’t.

The Jews say when a fish is out of water, laying on the bank it begins to ROT from the head to the tail.

NFLPA “Chief” is now crying foul, The question should be now to the “Chief” — “Did the NFL owners or anyone hold a (GUN) to your head and said sign this CBA or else”? So Chief did ALL that $MONEY$ cloud your vision, your team of lawyers — did you even make an attempt to read the fricking agreement? WOW — Unions “WHY” are you needed????

True F F, I agree. How is it the players have a union when they negotiate their contacts as individuals? I venture to say this could only be in professional sports.

Unions, probably once (100 years ago) a worthy entity/cause. It’s 2012 now if a personal service entity can’t offer employees secure alternative investments plus full health care for retirement when needed. Then forget-about-it ALL UNIONS are soon to be HISTORY!! I am probably wishing alittle there….

11:29 am – Also it’s the culture in today’s NFL environment — the NFL is made up of “individuals first” then “TEAM” — those teams that can be tagged as a “TEAM” are usually “WINNERS” — also today’s Head Coaches must have a great sense, physic effect to handle the cultural player make-up of their team if they want to be successful a “WINNER”. Just ask the Patriots head coach. But you are dead-on spot this contract protocol is in All Professional sports”!
