FLOWERY BRANCH – The roster, with a heavy local flavor, is set for the Falcons rookie minicamp that will run Friday through Saturday.

In addition to the six drafted rookies and the 23 undrafted rookies, six veterans and 10 players on tryouts will participate.

The veterans are wide receiver Kevin Cone and Drew Davis, tight end Tommy Gallarda, linebacker Matt Hansen, offensive lineman Andrew Jackson and safety Suaesi Tuimaunei.

Clark Atlanta cornerback Harcourt Farquharson, Georgia Tech wide receiver Tyler Melton and Georgia tight end Aron White head up the list of tryout invitees.

Here’s a youtube video of Farquharson.

In 2010, two players who received tryouts were signed to the roster in quarterback Eric Ward and cornerback Daylan Walker. Ward was cut a month later, but Walker made it to training camp before being released.

Here’s the group:

Tyler Donahue, T, Bowling Green: Signed with St. Louis Rams last year. Started 25 games for Bowling Green and has experience at both tackle positions.

Harcourt Farquharson, CB, Clark Atlanta: Split time as a cornerback and punt returner. Averaged 14.5 yards per return during 2011 and made 41 tackles.

Erik Folk, K, Washington: Made 11-of-16 field goals in 2011 and was good on all 56 extra point attempts.

Mark Lampford, RB, Nevada: Rushed for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns in 159 carries in 2011 for a team that finished second in rushing offense in the Western Athletic Conference.

Lee Meisner, FB, Colorado-Pueblo: Played linebacker at CSU-Pueblo and will compete at fullback at minicamp.

Tyler Melton, WR, Georgia Tech: Started 35 games for the Ramblin’ Wreck and caught 17 passes his senior year.

Jerome Raymond, DE, Morehead State: Named to the 2011 All-Pioneer Football League first team. Finished fourth in the league in 2011 with 11.5 sacks.

Taylor Rowan, K, Western Illinois: Set an NCAA record for 129 straight extra points for the Leathernecks. Played in the UFL, and won an Arena Bowl title in 2010 with Spokane.

Kenny Stafford, WR, Toledo: Caught 21 passes for 272 yards and one touchdown in 2011 as the fourth wide receiver.

Aron White, TE, Georgia: Caught nine passes for 101 yards and four touchdowns during the Bulldogs’ 2011 campaign.

If the Falcons sign Aron White, at least he wont have to worry about the hedges attacking him.

DL – It’s “Ramblin’ Wreck”, not Rambling.

Thanks for the update though – appreciate it.

GT Fan — Thank you kindly! As long as something is getting “wrecked” is the key part. They could do with less Ramblin’ and more Wrecking!!!

The best move the Falcons have made in draft getting Aron White a shot at TE. In time he will be a STEAL! Wish they could have looked at GT’s Roddy White and DE Peters. I’m not homing it but Aron White will help them, you wait and see.

I usually just read but....

Lee Meisner will get a shot at FB. He is from Colorado-Pueblo College. I thought I had heard of all schools that play football. Never to old to learn, I guess.

Richard – No, they never signed Casey. (I think his agent is putting some bad info out on the streets).

Aron White? You must be kidding. Another “token” dog.

Token dog? The same dogs that have put the most players in the NFL from the SEC in the last 10 years? That is one great token!

Here’s the school website:

They have a picture up of Meisner and a story about his tryout with the Falcons.

Kevin Cone played 1 game for the Falcons last year, I would say he has the inside track on the WR practice squad or if one goes down the full time roster. He also has played DB at practice some last year. Good special teams player and may be in the top 3 of the fastest falcons. He really he has bulked up (while not losing speed) so much he could be a 3rd down back out of the backfield. Since he went to GT he knows how to block!

D-Led, no Casey Therriault? I read somewhere that we signed him! ??? :( He seems like a real talent that was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

JoFo — He was arrested for manslaughter and did some jail time. He was never signed by the Falcons. Sounds like his agent was putting that story out there.
