Former Falcons executive Brian Xanders, who played for Bobby Bowden at Florida State, left the Broncos after four years in what was described as a mutual decision to part ways.

Here’s the Denver Post story on the power struggle between Xanders and John Elway that led to his depature.

Elway is starting to exercise more control over the franchise and clearly doesn’t feel that he needs a general manager.

Xanders was the director of football administration for the Falcons before joining the Broncos. Nick Polk currently holds that position with the Falcons.

Xanders was with the Falcons in various capacities from 1994 to 2007. He also worked in some overlapping positions with the salary cap management/analysis (four years), coaching staff (five years), player personnel evaluations (nine years), football analysis/research (one year), information technology (five years) and sports management (two years).

Xanders at Florida State University from 1989–92 and was a member of four bowl-winning teams with the Seminoles that had a 42-7 combined record.

He was an All-ACC academic team selection and graduated from FSU with a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in business management.

I agree. Since we got no real falcon news. Let us all poke fun at Saint fan. It seem that most Saint fan believe that they will have a good season in spite of not having a head coach, they number 1 defensive, and a GM for most of the season. They be living in the denial as Vilma. I can only imagine what next out of a Saint fan. They going to probably say that the Saint has been the greatest team since the start of the NFL.

I’m a life long Bronco fan. Xanders needed to be shown the door. He was nothing more than a yes man during the McDaniels disaster and this past draft was pretty lackluster as well. Without Elway, Xanders never would have been capable of something like the Peyton signing. Xanders is a good guy, just in way over his head.

Regardless, can’t wait til Monday night in the GA Dome Week 2. Go Broncos!

Xanders is a terrific cap guy. Now that Les Snead is gone, bring him back to ATL. Good, smart, available & would be an asset to the Falcons.

Groovedawg – The new cap guy, Nick Polk is well-thought of. I don’t see a clear spot for the X-man. They certainly make one for him.
