LIVE CHAT: WWTDD – What will Thomas Dimitroff do?

We are in the media War Room and ready for your questions before the second day of the NFL draft starts.

FLOWERY BRANCH – Took a little time to assess the first round late last night, got a few winks, delivered a couple of lectures on the media and the justice system and then started to  ponder this WWTDD question.

Given what happened in the most bizarre first round in quite a while, we have to figure out “What Will Thomas Dimitroff Do” with the 55th and 84th picks of the draft.

The first round broke beautifully for the Falcons, who have heavily scouted offensive tackles. The Falcons can practically sit back at 55 and watch as lineman slips through. Georgia’s Cordy Glenn, Stanford’s Jonathan Martin and Mississippi State’s Bobby Massie, Ohio State’s Mike Adams  and Wisconsin’s Peter Konz were not selected in the first round. All were projected as potential first round picks.

The Falcons may target Adams or Martin if they are slipping and go up and get one of them. Dimitroff has made at least

Let's go eat a (blank, blank) snack!!! The media war room has some healthy snack options.

Let's go eat a (blank, blank) snack!!! The media war room has some healthy snack options.

one trade in each of his past four drafts.

If the Falcons lay back at 55, California tackle Mitchell Schwartz and Midwestern State tackle/guard Amini Silatolu could still be around.

During the pre-draft process the Falcons worked out offensive tackles Schwartz, Steven Baker (East Carolina), Dennis Kelly (Purdue), Kelechi Osemele (Iowa State) and Donald Stephenson (Oklahoma).

We have a few hours until things get started. So send along your questions.

What’s his winning percentage against teams with a winning percentage? I know we can take Coastal Carolina Day Academy .He certainly knows how to pad a schedule. Unfortunately, there is always a real contender on there somewhere. Same results every time. We seldom (if ever) beat the teams that you have to beat to be a top tier team. Big flaw. Also, we all knows he is capable, but only rises to the occasion when he’s on the hot seat, pansy scheduling notwithstanding. Another big flaw. He know longer has the fire in his belly. He is a good man, don’t get me wrong. But if you can’t win with Stafford and Moreno, and that tremendous supporting cast that they had, then the flaws are astronomical. You don’t have to be a Magi to recognize that. Ray Charles could see that red light.

Tommy I love Mark… but discipline is obvious a weakness.. as is loyalty… he is good… great? Saban, MIles, The Evil One? Urban Cryer good.. I am not so sure…I love Mark… and am glad not to be back to Goff or worse… but he is not NC head coach material… He is just simply… too nice

TommyP

mars: First off, you’re wrong on the pansy scheduling. Georgia had some of the toughest schedules in the nation for years under Damon Evans. Problem is that you can’t win a national title playing schedules like that.

The team in 2008 with Staff/Moreno? Toughest schedule in the nation and that’s why many pundits did not pick Georgia to win it all.

The reason why we didn’t do better in 2008 and thereafter would be Willie Martinez. The worst DC in many, many years in the SEC.

One more time…we didn’t win with Staff and Moreno not ’cause of the offense but the defense.

Mars I disagree…
Matt wanted nothing but to try out fro the NFL… he never was at UGA to win.. Knowshon… fantastic, but no heart… always taking himself out of the game when it mattered.. we have had great palyers.. but all too often they are ont he sideline, either hurt, suspended or winded… this is all on the shoulders of the HC.

Joe T: Richt’s discipline is weak? You officially have no idea what you’re talking about.

It’s common knowledge that Richt is one of the only coaches in the SEC that DOES DISCIPLINE his players for transgressions. Think about it. You hardly ever hear about players missing games in the SEC on other teams. You really think the coaches have disciplined programs? Please. Richt is the only one that disciplines, brother.

Who cares about a 5th rounder, just make the pick. Its not like 5th rounders are going to do anything anyway. Maybe make special teams.

How about that dumb pick that Belicheck made with number 48, Tavon Wilson, a projected 6th or 7th rounder. This is one time the genius outsmarted himself. Gosh, one thing Belicheck does not do well is draft in the second round. Look how they passed on Clay Matthews.

I am a Pats/Falcons fans and thank goodness for Pats fans that Tom Brady covers up for a multitude of draft sins that Belickeck has made in the past. The list in the second round (Terrence Wheatley, Darius Butler, Bethel Johnson, and first round bust Andy Katzenmoyer) shows that the Pats often do not draft well, Many mistakes in the draft, amazing the success they have given picks they made tonight.

The Tavon Wilson pick is the WORST in NFL history. Dumb.

Joe T: Let’s see…Stafford led the team to a final ranking of #2 in the nation and then the 2008 team had a sieve-like defense. Staff was NEVER the problem.

Moreno did take himself out after being winded but if you think that’s the reason we didn’t win more, I just don’t think you get it. Defense was horrible.

Moreno is the best RB in Athens since…..well, you tell me.

not to mention,,,,it’s the AD policy on suspensions at UGA, not Richt’s. He can be a softy true, but I think he still has that fire to win a NC.

Tommy.. i appreciate what you say… but you are simply wrong.. Saban deals with his issues… Mark is hearded by either that douche the pres or his own ethics…Saban offers 90 schollys and plays withing the limits… behave and play… dont and we fill the hole… If you cant follow the program well we’ll grayshirt you… but his players are there on gameday… is he more lenient? or more trusted and revered by his players… yu tell me tommy… Nick has to NC’s at Bama.. this program was left in shambles… Richt has exactly zero… but you also liek the Braves and Flacons and think they are oing well… I guess it is standards Tommy…I mean I understand… I have been ummm hoggin as well

Matt and Knowshon were one example in a decade that saw the best atletes in the nation skate through Athens not hampered by expectation. Joe T, if my suspicions are true, then you have a unique perspective that I cannot deny. However, if Stafford and Moreno were giving a half a$$ed effort, why were they allowed on the field? That is yet another flaw of St Mark.

Not thrilled about the pick especially after the comments on ESPN about his strength and stamina.

*************************************************************
If they knew everything they would draft for the teams instead of report it…………they aren’t athletes.
Gruden was a back up QB…………probably knows athleticism better than any of them. His Dad was a coach under Dan Devine at ND.

Joe T: Dude, you’re not even legible anymore. You gotta be drunk as a skunk right now.

Please quit comparing Richt to Saban. That’s so pathetic. EVERYONE is a failure compared to Nick Saban. So stop.

In several of these SEC towns such as Knoxville, Tuscaloosa, Auburn….the University and the law enforcement work hand in hand. Remember Bar Knoxville? Brutal beatdown of a cop in the middle of the street by 8+ football players and 1 guy was officially disciplined. Athens cops do not work with UGA on these things.

If you REALLY believe that Bama has none of the same problems that Georgia and many other programs have, you’re dumb as a rock. It’s how the problems are handled that differentiates the schools.

Since Auburn has a national title, I guess you feel Chizik is better than Richt? LOL And more disciplined?

And Urban Meyer…the one with more arrests than anyone but nary a game suspension for his players.

Steve Spurrier? His QB gets arrested time after time (5 times) but never missed a game.

You have a bb gun going against a machine gun of facts. Keep drinking.

TommyP- i blame on it the cops being on the take in other towns other than UGA. Ever since they stopped giving Athens police free game tickets, mofos been on the hunt for UGA players. Unless our AD stops being so strict w/ first time offenders, UGA will never have a shot.
