Atlanta Falcons: Agree to terms with Redman, Douglas

UPDATE
The Falcons agreed to contract terms with backup quarterback Chris Redman and wide receiver Harry Douglas late Tuesday night.
Redman, 6-3, 225 pounds, who agreed to a one-year deal, was originally selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the third round (75th overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft. He was signed by the Falcons on March 23, 2007 and re-signed in 2008. Redman has served as Matt Ryan’s backup for the last four seasons. In 2011, he appeared in five games completing 18 of 28 pass attempts for 188 yards.
In nine NFL seasons, Redman has appeared in 31 games and completed 286 of 500 pass attempts for 3,179 yards with 21 touchdowns.
Douglas, of Jonesboro agreed to a four-year deal, has been the team’s No. 3 receiver. He’s caught 85 passes for 1,112 yards over four seasons. He missed the 2009 season because of a knee injury.

Falcons defensive tackle Vance Walker received a tender offer of $1.26 million on Tuesday.
Walker, 6-foot-2, 304 pounds, was a seventh round pick (210th overall) out of Georgia Tech in 2009.
He played in all 16 games last season and registered 25 tackles, including 17 solos. He also had two sacks and one forced fumble.
Over his career, he’s had 77 tackles and 55 solos with the Falcons.

Vance has actually been better than Jerry and he was picked in the same draft 6 rounds later. He’s not a start by any means, and is never going to be, but he’s a solid rotation guy. If you’re going to play a 4-3, you need to have 3-4 DT’s that you can rotate in to keep everyone fresh. And he’s done a great job of that, a guy that come in and give you 20 solid snaps. He’s a good block eater and run stuffer, he’s not a pass rusher. It’s like a 6th man / role player in basketball.

I like the way Vance play and glad to see him get signed. Not too shabby. The news is about is to get real interesting. Wondering the falcon GM have in store this year.

Man, the fact we are debating how the falcons can add a piece here or there to get to the big game is awesome. Mr. Blank has done wonders. While I have been disappointed with the past one and out playoff appeances over the last two seasons, this is still great that we’re not talking about how to get a winning record in consecutive seasons, but becoming elite. Some of you people need to learn how to read. It clearly says 25 TACKLES, not sacks. Two sacks. And i dont like this signing at all. Wasting more cap space on a part time player. Depth that produces only 25 tackles can be found elsewhere, and at a cheaper price than 1.26 MIL

@Florida Guy: I agree with you 100%. I am amazed at how our fans are so negative about our team. We have made the Playoffs 3 of 4 years with Smitty and TD. I am just glad we are very competitive and regularly competing for the playoffs.
