FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons wide receiver Roddy White went on the NFL Network recently and share his views on if Tim Tebow and Peyton Manning could coexist in Denver and gave his list of the NFL’s top 5 receivers.

“It would be nice for Tim Tebow. He could sit back and learn how to play the quarterback position, see what Peyton Manning does and how he goes about training week to week and getting himself ready to play. He’d be learning from the best. He doesn’t have a high cap number so it’s not like they’re holding onto a guy they’re paying $10-12 million a year to. If they can keep Tebow and let him just watch and then throw him in the fire three or four years from now.”

Here’s the video link!

I really don’t see Steve Smith as a top 5 guy, definitely not #1 like Stevie Johnson says.

I cannot believe that neither of them have Andre Johnson, to me, he’s #1

I’m assuming Roddy couldn’t include himself, right?

No Wes Welker? One of the most dynamic players in the league. Guess his physical size rules him out for ‘elite’ receivers?

And I’ll second the vote for Andre Johnson.

Wes had a down year by his standards. Andre barely played this season. Steve Smith is the truth and made Cam look reeealll good. With that said I’m not sure how Calvin wouldn’t end up number 1 on every top WR list.

just sayin'

Andre Johnson has to be in the Top 5.

Andre Johnson when healthy is top 3. Mike Wallace is underrated. Being in the NFC South blinds some of you to just how great Steve Smith is and has been. Having to play with the likes of Chris Weinke and Jimmy Clausen would drove any other receiver underground to heroin! Larry FItzgerald is just a playmaker. Any list without Greg Jennings on it is a joke. He’s the NFCs version of Andre Johnson. Calvin Johnson is not top 10, he’s Calvin ‘Freaking” Johnson!

Dled, I read your latest tweet. How did the Falcons cap space get absorbed so quickly? They only made a few minor signings (outside of Decouds contract). Where did all of the space go?

I wouldn’t ask Roddy who the top receivers are; I’d ask Grimes.

How can white be in the top 15 for that matter if he drops so many passes

Do u watch football or pay attention to stats (JAY)???? Welker had a down year by his standards !!!!!!! Are u joking he had over 1500 yards ,he led the league in receptions(122) and I think he had either 9 or 10 TD’s by far his best all around season ,next time u post do some research first!!

So, DeAngelo WIlliams (34) Rushing for a touchdown sure looks a lot like Roddy White (84) catching a TD pass. And Optimus Grimes can shut them ALL down.

Die Hard: Andre Johnson has amazing talent, but he is apparently made of Taffy and has mostly developed as a possession receiver.

In this age of Diva receivers, I can’t believe Roddy didn’t name himself as one of the top 5. Very modest of him, because he is clearly a top 5 receiver. Yes he had the most drops, but he also was targeted the most.

Wes welker is not a top 5 Wide Receiver. He is normally put into the slot (i.e. Slot Receiver). For my money, he is overhyped, and he does not perform well on the outside. He is over glorified because of what he looks like.

“because of what he looks like”? explain that please.

Damn, Stevie Johnson puts Roddy above Megatron? I’m as biased as any Falcons’ fan, but man even I can’t put Roddy over Calvin, he’s a freak!

@jason, he racked up yards against garbage teams. he was absent in their big game brotha. you can take Wes I’ll take Calvin, Steve Smith or Fitzgerald over him. I’d also take a healthy Andre Johnson over him.

@Jason: Thanks for setting the record straight for clueless ‘Jay’… do you leave the leading receiver over the past five years in the NFL (yards and catches) off of any top five WR list……LMAO. Yep, Welker had a “down year” with a league leading 1500 + yards and receptions. Loved it when he beat “shut down” Revis for a 75 yard TD…..and that Dolphin CB for a 99 yard TD….but he’s just a “slot receiver who gets 7 yards per catch”…….too funny….people gonna hate.

DOL’s title is misleading. These are their TOP 5 FANTASY WRs. Crabapplejoe, hadn’t seen you in awhile. How things been?

its the night before free agency and we have to read this crap………a list of WRs….really?

March 13th, 2012

Roddy had a terrible year as evident by his league leading 16 drops. He can’t be counted on to make a third down catch. He cost us FOUR first downs against the Giants that would have at least allowed us to run 12 more plays. I believe he is the most overpaid player currently under contract when we cut Baker.

@ Chuck
But he still had alomost 1300 yards receiving. Do the Falcons still have the former lineman as the WR’S coach? NOt only was it a short workout before the season but they were preparing Julio Jones for the NFL. Which meant less passes in practice for White. Just think, 1300 recv yards was considered a down year. Wow!!!!!

Roddy as good as he can be had to lead the league in dropped passes the last two years.
We lost against Tampa early in the year when he took his eye off the ball almost uncovered!

Roddy White to the Patriots for one of their first round picks would truely benefit both teams!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, Andre Johnson is a major omission from both lists. Steve Smith is in the conversation. Anybody that doesn’t think so hasn’t been watching games.

I like how Roddie didn’t show Julio any love. He probably know Julio going to be better than him. While Roddie lead the league in drops, Julio going to lead the leage in catches and yards after the catch. Roddie won’t be able to keep up with that!

DOL, why are you misleading everbody. On NFL network they asked Roddy who his top 5 FANTANSY WRs were. The two list are exactly the same.

It would definitely not be nice for Tebow to be sitting around for 3-4 years watching the grass grow. If he wants to learn from Manning, he can Tivo Manning’s Titans games and watch them on TV on Mondays while he’s resting up from winning his own games on Sundays.
