Mike Mayock: Janoris Jenkins is a first-round talent

INDIANAPOLIS — NFL draft analyst Mike Mayock doesn’t have a tight end with a first-round grade.

UGA’s Orson Charles and Stanford’s Coby Fleener are generally considered the top tight ends in the draft. Clemson’s Dwayne Allen is the third rated tight end.

After that trio, there’s a big dropoff.

A couple of other highlights from this take:

–Janoris Jenkins is a first-round talent if you can get over his character issues.

–Andrew Luck is no comparision to Peyton Manning.

–Mayock wants to know how much a player loves the game.

I disagree Falcon Devil. I like Coby Fleener and Orson Charles a whole lot more than I liked Kyle Rudolph last year. Even Ladarius Green is a very intriguing project.

I agree JJ is a shutdown corner and would have been a high round pick if he didn’t have serious character issues. He had multiple legal infractions at UF that ultimately got him kicked out of school and he really has worked against himself before he could even get to the NFL by allegedly fathering FOUR kids in his early 20s while he was in college. And there will be other women out there that will target JJ future paternity because of his past. I don’t know how many mothers he will be forced to pay, but they will get their percentage of his salary right off the top when he signs a pro contract.

This young fellow must get his priorities in order fast or he is ahead of schedule to be the next Travis Henry, an ex-NFL player who is currently serving time in prison for selling dope after he fathered over a dozen kids with ten women during his college and pro careers. Sooner or later people will learn when you pour piles of cash on troubled and problematic people you just make a poor small mess a giant rich mess until the money is all gone. Then these guys end up broke, homeless, prison-bound and/or dead. I hope this guy can turn his life around before its too late. The clock is ticking and JJ is already running out of time.

I’d say that O-line is the biggest need for the Falcons in the draft. The rest should be addressed in free agency.

Man, Janoris Jenkins would be a good bad character for the Falcons to start with, that way we can start building a team that has no character to satisfy those of you that don’t give a da## about those that can’t wipe there on nose and feed off of others clean life style and sucess and who want to be forgiven no matter what they do !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tight end is a “want,” rather than a “need” in my opinion this year. Gonzo’s here for another year and grooming a younger TE is a waste if he’s not the right guy.

They have too few picks this year to waste on projects…

We do need DE real bad you know but we need them to come in and play now, so i guess free market agency is the choice for us.

Nique — Free agent focus will likely be on replacing Abraham (Robert Mathis)! I would think they’d look at Landry, Branch and Goldson, but may not have enought cash money.
