Because of changes in the collective bargaining agreement, the Falcons will have a much different schedule this offseason.

“We’re not going to start until April 23,” Falcons coach Mike Smith told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “The mandatory minicamp can’t take place until the last two weeks of the offseason program.”

Here’s the Falcons’ offseason schedule:

*A rookie minicamp is scheduled for two weeks after the draft, which will be held April 26-28.

*The offseason training program starts April 23 with weight lifting and meetings.

*Coaching sessions will start in Weeks 3-6 of the organized team activities.

*Mandatory minicamp is set for June 19-21.

This is what pisses people off about Athletes feeling entitled. They went through all that drama last year and for what? So they didn’t have to practice as much? I understand that hey’re the best in the world at what they do, but so is the guy on the other team. Practice may not make perfect, but it sure makes better. Look at a guy like TG88 – he wouldn’t be who he is if it weren’t for his own trainign program, but instead of emulating him the UInion wants to go in the complete oposite direction. Wish I could get a gig like that!

Saint Hater — They are getting in the same amount of work. Just not as early. They can have somewhat of an offseason.

January, February, March and 1/2 April to get into trouble if you are not on a playoff team…WOW…anyhow, that is what the players wanted, if too many guys get DUIs or worse, they will get even more media attention for it. If guys are out of shape, more attention will be put on this longer period off, so the pressure is on them. If I could get more time off, I’d fight for it too, but this is a ‘be careful what you wish for’ deal as most fans will feel like the Saint Hater

It’ll be interesting to see how the team shapes up this year. Lots of free agents.

D. Led, isn’t McClure one of our free agents? if so what are we planning to do with our center position? Still not sure why we didn’t lock down Lofton earlier with an extension like stephen nicholson when we had a chance to. Should have done it late last year or earlier this year. And lastly, is it remotely possible dunta robinson might redo his deal to help us keep grimes????

Ain’t it sweet, we are going to have the full traing season to bitch about how bad things are instead of enjoying what sucess the Falcons may have.

Yet another reason to trade Turner for something while we can still get something…

These folks were so busy hating against the NFLPA to read the CBA! Oh by the way, owners love not having Rookie Mini-camp until later, it lowers the cost and closer you can keep activities together, the lesser the cost to open and close facilities and pay other personnel…

Runner- — I think there’s some humor in there. You don’t trade 1,300-yard backs, though.

What’s the deal with Turner @ his girlfriends? This is the first I’ve heard of it.

D Led……..Saints Hater may have been eluding to the point about a longer off season. Only athletes have off seasons. I sure as hell don’t have one (it is called vacation and usually 1 week at a time) and that may have been his point.

I love football and most of the other sports but I sure wish there was a way to boycoot all the crap so that the owners, players and the union can see that it is the fans who make the game, not the over payed players.

P.S. Trade Michael Turner now while you may be able to get something in return.

Earl….really? Overpaid? How many players have been paralyzed playing this game? How many guys have suffered neurological damage? Ask Dave Duerson’s wife if he was overpaid.

DLed, you trade 1300 yd backs when your team needs draft picks and your 1300 yd back is no longer an every down back.
