Georgia tight end Orson Charles should be the first tight end selected in the NFL draft, according to NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock.

“I don’t have any tight ends in the first round,” Mayock said. “I think they are going to come off the board in the second round and it will be kind of interesting. I think Orson Charles will be gone by 50. . . I think he’s a second round pick that goes somewhere between 33 and 45.”

Charles started 29 games for Georgia. He caught 94 passes for 1,370 yards, which set a UGA career yardage record for tight ends, and 10 touchdowns, which tied the school record for the position.

After catching 45 passes for 574 yards and five touchdowns in the 2011 season, he was voted first-team All-SEC by both the coaches and the media. He was chosen first-team All-America by the American Football Coaches Association.

Also anyone else notice his “subtle” dig of using a pic of OC wearing the crappy nike uniforms as well as dropping the ball.

dol please move north and cover your favorite team the buckeyes.

This picture is a perfect example, on why Charles will not be a first round pick

Settle down Dawgs…..DOL just said what everyone else that are not leg humpers already know. Fact is, Georgia gets tons of hype and high expectations and then promptly disappoints…I know this year will be different. That is what Iowa thinks too. Spot on comparison.

In other words, they will be middle of the pack….

Don’t forget they have a weak schedule so they will be higher than mid pack

I am just saying that in the end they will finish below the top tier teams in the country. Even if they get to the seccg then I am afraid it will be a bitter end to a weak schedule. Just like Iowa…I think that is the point.

I think we are going to be pretty good again. I like our Qb, RB looks good again, 4 out of 5 lineman return…I feel if we can get by Michigan early in Dallas then we will be right there by the end. Saban has recruited very well but we will have to grow up quick on defense.

He is maybe the 3rd of 4th best TE in this draft. he is not the BEST TE in the draft.

The TE Trap…

- Rather than debating the merits of Orson Charles…
- it’s more interesting to note “no TE in 1st rd”…
- why?

- b/c you don’t spend high picks on TE!!!!

- moreover there’s half a dozen FA TE…
- that were the last next big thing less than 5 yrs ago…
- plus Gonzo still putting up top 5 TE numbers…

- Falcons urgency is exaggerated…

-Best infuse that porous OL with some talent…

DLed picked that picture because it shows off his favorite number. Charles could slip into the early 3rd round too, probably because DLed posted this picture.

ORSON CHARLES I BELIEVE WILL BE A GOOD PRO BUT IT DEPENDS ON WHAT TEAM HE GOES TO AND HOW THEY USE HIM. ORSON HOWEVER HAS TO IMPROVE HIS BLOCKING TO BECOME A EVERY DOWN TIGHT END.

I think the Iowa comment is about right. I can’t come up with a similar fit with any other conference. The Louisville of the SEC? Nope. The Arizona of the SEC? Nah. The North Carolina? Ixnay. Plus, all of those schools are in actual cities, not towns, like Athens and Iowa City (don’t be fooled by the name.)

I like DE Vinny Curry, in the 2nd, if he falls that far. He’d be an immediate help at the position, especially if Koetter implements the 3 TE formation.

What picks do the Falcons have left after using them on Julio last year? Didn’t they use three or four of this year’s picks on him?

Falcons need OL, DE, CB. TE is not a priority until 2013. Charles will be good but not a fit for the Falcons. I see him going to New England.

Forget about any thing other than OL and then DL. That is where 90% of games are won or lost. Go get Harvey Dahl back from Rams and give them a 2nd round pick, they may be willing, since they have alot of rebuilding to do? H Dahl would bring that nastiest back to OL, my bet is Clabo returns a different type player when bad boy Dahl is next to him? Why not?
