The Atlanta Falcons cheerleaders were ranked 10th in the league in a sports business CNBC.com article by Darren Rovell and Paul Toscano titled “The NFL Best Cheerleading Squads of 2012.”
In the off-season, one of the best ways for teams to generate buzz and get significant page
views on their websites is to have a strong cheerleader page. So we went through all 32 teams, including the ones still in the playoffs, and ranked the top cheerleading squads, taking in consideration everything from presentation of the cheerleaders online, to fan interaction, community outreach and overall success of the cheerleading teams.
Although there is certainly a measure of subjectivity that goes into rankings of this nature, the cheerleader websites and the team’s cheerleader-related marketing campaigns were the major factors in determining this list.
Here are the rankings:
1. New England
7. New York Jets
8. New Orleans
The Falcons have a wealth of interaction with their fans, with plenty of blog posts and Twitter feeds, a great junior cheerleaders program, and a sponsor list that includes nine local and regional businesses.
If you’ve been paying attention in class, you know that (They even had the wisdom to let yours truly be a judge over during the last two tryouts!!!!)
That’s when the Falcons started searching for ladies a who epitomize the “New South” – young, glamorous, hip, attractive and intelligent.
There have been calendar shoots in Cancun and Bermuda over the last two offseasons, the expanded 40-member squad received new uniforms and have their own website (atlantafalconscheerleaders.com), while also making an even bigger commitment in the community.
“I think the calendar is just the icing on the cake,’’ said Chato Waters, a former Falcons cheerleader who now coaches the team in an recent article. “I think the foundation has always been there … talented women, articulate, educated, active in the community. And yes, we wanted to add a different aspect to the program (the calendar) and to really show how glamorous these ladies are.’’
And quickly added Chato, “I cannot wait until our fans see the new uniforms — they are glamorous, they are hot, they are sexy.”
