New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski (87) makes a touchdown catch past Atlanta Falcons linebacker Spencer Adkins (59) during 4th quarter action for a 28-3 lead at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Thursday, August 19, 2010. Curtis Compton ccompton@ajc.com
The Falcons are listing starting linebacker Stephen Nicholas (toe injury) and left cornerback Brent Grimes (knee) in their No. 1 slots. We’ll get official updates on Wednesday, but Grimes, who played against the Saints and then was held out of the Tampa Bay game, should be ready to play. Smith has said that Nicholas (toe) is doubtful.
Linebacker Spencer Adkins made his first career start against Tampa Bay and finished with three tackles while playing about 25 snaps.

Or Biermann. Anybody but Edwards. How many sacks does he have? Like 3? Sidbury has more sacks than him. And so does Biermann. Start Biermann or Sidbury. We’ll win if we do.

Put Harry Douglas at punt returner. He’s faster than Weems and has more moves. Weems doesn’t need to be both our kick returner and punt returner. Weems is good for about 20-25 yards, not much more. I think Douglas could burn a coverage team. If I was a coach, no matter their rank, I’d put the best players at spots to suit us to win. Such as Julio Jones at RB a few times, Julio at PR, Turner at FB, I’d switch it up a little bit. Gotta pull out the stops to win.

Lets give OUR Mighty Birds of Prey” as much encouragement as we can muster. The Falcons will win and move on to the next round. For those that don’t like or don’t have anything encouraging to say…… Keep it to yourself

Yeah Michael, that team blew out the Saints in the season opener, and then proceeded to lose the next three games, and finished out of the playoffs too. Guess the falca n’ts couldn’t handle playing that Real Football back then either.

The Saints are an average team at best without Brees. Brees is a beast, but without him you would have no running game, and the Saints defence is average to below average. Brees wins your games period.
That and two beast of offensive guards, that give him all day to throw. This is true with most teams with elite qb’s. Looks at the colts this year! So don’t give all this talk on how much better the Saints “team” is. It is Brees period, without him your are still the Aint’s! Just Saying!!

The differance in this game will be playing on the road,in NY,vs the hometown refs.the falcons will have to overcome a lot of adversidy to get a win in the big apple! matt Ryan will have to get the ball out quick,or the Giants may set a sack record of some kind.I just can’t see the falcons winning the battle in the trenches, and thats whats bothers me the most, because we all know most games are won in the trenches.Maybe they will prove me wrong,i sure hope so.

Hello, Saint fans I know you have a newspaper, because I looked it up. If I were you, I would concentrate on the Detroit Lions! Remember what happened last year?! Your team was picked to win by 14 pts. Looks like it is going to be a another blow out.

I believe the Falcons should haved moved Clabo back to guard where his size and power counters the inside rush, and insert Baker at right tackle where he can use his limited athleticism.
The Falcon offense should take it upon themselves to become that greatest show on turf and outscore every team in sight. Brees, Rodgers and the like can only be defeated by another team led by an elite QB. Roddy White could help by dropping fewer passes. Matt Ryan’s time to prove himself is now. Conditions will never get better

We don’t have the best playoff record under Smitty but I can’t help but be excited to go to play the Giants for the next step. Watching the NY-Dallas game, I was impressed that Eli is still alive… he’s been broken so many times and he keeps on ticking. I think we can beat these guys but last year, I thought we’d overcome the Packers and then this year, figured we’d man-up for at least one of the Saints games.
Light the fuse, boys… it’s POST SEASON!

Adkins played well. If Nicholas is not ready to go I have confidence in him. Grimes has to play and play well as we know he will!
