Peterson, Hayden placed on injured reserve

The Falcons placed cornerback Kelvin Hayden and linebacker Mike Peterson on injured reserve on Tuesday.

Hayden, 6-0, 195 pounds, was signed by the Falcons as a free agent on August 30. Hayden played in eight games this season, totaling 27 tackles (22 solo) with two interceptions and four passes defensed. He was trying to make it back from a dislocated toe injury.

Peterson started and played against the Saints. No injury was announced to the press during the game and after the game Peterson was talking about helping to get the team ready for the playoffs.

“Just get back to work,” Peterson said after he was asked how the team would rebound from the 45-16 loss. “We are professionals. We have to be pros about this. If this doesn’t make you feel bad and make you want to go to work right now, then you are in the wrong business.

“For whatever reason, we knew coming into this game we were going up against a great quarterback and a great offense. We knew we were going to have to play for 60 minutes. You’ve got to be on your game, the whole game. We made a couple of plays, but we didn’t make enough. We definitely didn’t make enough.”

Peterson was starting in place of Stephen Nicholas, who was out with a toe injury. He was a leader of the linebacker group.

“No doubt, that’s why you have the vets,” Peterson said. “Don’t feel good about this? Don’t feel good about just being in the playoffs? Our goals are way bigger than just making (the playoffs.) They are going to hear it and they are going to hear it a lot. They are going to hear it from the coaches and they are going to hear it from us, the veterans.”

Peterson, 6-1, 226 pounds, was originally selected as a second round (36th overall) draft choice by the Indianapolis Colts in the 1999 NFL Draft. Peterson joined the Falcons as a free agent on March 10, 2008. This season, he had 23 tackles (12 solo) with one interception. Peterson ranks among the NFL’s active tackle leaders with 1,607 career tackles.

Man, when will you guys realize that the Falcons are simply inferior. First you blame the “Return to the Dome” on the refs and the league. Then you blame the Super Bowl year on the refs and the league. Then you blame the latest victory against your team on the refs and the league…Are you guys noticing a trend here??? There are countless other examples of placing blame in all the wrong places, but I will stop there. Just deal with the fact that you read your own headlines, courtesy of Peter King, and you failed. Its just that simple. F.A.L.C.O.N.S. = Fans Always Left Counting On Next Year.

I am a fan of Peterson, for an old guys he has played pretty good lately. Why can’t D-Rob join him on the IR, Grimes is the one worth 60 mil.

Don’t put the bags away just yet, you’ll be needing them before long. Also, who is making excuses???- the Falcons got it handed to them last night and from what I’ve read most of my fellow Falcons fans have admitted that.

Those are 2 significant injuries to an already lackluster D, I was really looking forward to getting Hayden back too, him & Grimes round out the secondary, although Franks is playing much better recently!!!

I reckon if you’re blind, you can’t watch the games.
The odds are always stacked in the saints favor by the NFL, have been ever since the flood.

soon to be 0-3 in the playoffs with Matt Ryan

Here are a list of teams that would not trade their starting QB for Matt Ryan:BB

Patriots, Giants, Eagles, Lions, Colts, Bears, Texans, Cowboys, Charger, Saints, Packers, Carolina.

I counted 12. Drew Brees has at least 4 elite seaasons left, Rodgers is only 26 and Stafford and Cam Newton are only 23. The Falcons are in trouble for the next 10 years unless we upgrade at QB.

The Falcons need to establish a new category of players named “Worn Out” and immediately put Michael Turner on it for the rest of the year and 2012.

OK. So for the last 6 years the reason the Falcons are 2-10 vs the Saints is Katrina? THATS FUNNY! So how do you explain 0 playoff wins for your franchise during that time because you did not play the World Champion Saints in the playoffs during that time so I am assuming there was no cheating there right? This is a great rivalry guys and your team is simply playing second fiddle right now. I understand why losing the the World Champion Saints hurts so much but the facts are the facts. All the noise I heard about John Abraham…what happened? Did he even suit up? Or was he held on every play and the zebras didn’t call it..That must be it right? OR MAYBE HE WAS FACING A PROBOWL O-LINEMAN AND HE WAS DOMINATED LIKE THE FALCONS HAVE BEEN DOMINATED BY THE WORLD CHAMPION SAINTS FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS!!!! YA THINK?

JSS…Reading is fundamental. I know you got excited when you saw that I made a mistake and you couldn’t wait to exploit it, like the World Champion Saints have exploited the Falcons as of late, but the correction was made in the next post. You see how that works…Make an error, admit it, fix it. I know its a stretch but that’s usually how it works. Not make an error, deny it, and blame the league and the refs!

No pass rush. Zone coverage. I love Mike Peterson but it doesn’t matter.
