INJURY REPORT: Turner and Nicholas miss practice

FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons are getting second-year cornerback Dominique Franks ready for nickel back action against the Saints because Kelvin Hayden (dislocated toe) was not cleared to return to Thursday’s practice.
While Hayden (dislocated toe) did not practice, he spent time working out with the trainers. Running back Michael Turner (groin) and linebacker Stephen Nicholas (toe) did not practice.
Veterans John Abraham, Todd McClure and Tony Gonzalez were rested and held out of practice.
Running back Jason Snelling missed practice in a non-injury related matter.
Cornerback Brent Grimes (knee), tackle Will Svitek (groin), wide receiver Harry Douglas (groin), line backer Curtis Lofton (ankle) and defensive tackle Corey Peters (knee) were limited in practice.
Franks has started at left cornerback for the past three games. In nickel situations, he’s went inside to play the slot. He faced rookie quarterbacks T.J. Yates, Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert. This will be his first major action against one of the league’s elite quarterbacks in Drew Brees.
“Dominique has progressed every week,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said. “Dominique played a lot of nickel for us in the preseason and has not had a whole lot of experience in the regular season.”

Turner better play. I forgive smith for that last call in the last game. Let’s rebound and not do the same. I know they say trick plays are for coaches who dont have faith in their teams, but I think not. What’s wrong with having a couple up the arsenal. Especially for this next game, I mean we know each other. We need to catch them off guard somehow.

Ok guys. What happened to the actual game.lol Hiramsaint, I enjoyed the back and forth sir. Honestly, this is just a reflection of how much fans enjoy their teams. You all have had a run of success lately and hey, its well deserved for such a starving franchise HOWEVER we also have a similar story and head to head we still have the lead. You guys have a great in Drew Brees but not much else if he goes down. You have good coaching….but so do we. I commend our coach for going for that 4th. I just thought the call could have been different. Bottom line, these two rule the roost in this division and it will be a physical slugout Monday night. We CAN beat you.lol We’ve done it before. Remember what happened to you when we played you in New Orleans last year?lol No matter the outcome, we’re both headed to the playoffs and we’ll just see when it TRULY counts (the big tournament) who’s who. See ya in the NFC divisional playoff or title game.

Please don’t pose as SeenThisB4 and HiramSaint with fake posts. We need to let the real ones post, so we can respond to their comments on a football level.
Oh yeah, they typically don’t talk football…just take cheap shots at our team, our fans, and our town. As if that constantly reeking pukehole down there was some kind of Nirvana.
The Falcons can win by (finally) knocking down Brees (other teams have proved it, even the freaking Rams) and stuffing the run (we did last time). Offensively, I am OK with going a little vanilla…save the throw the playbook at em’ attitude for the playoffs. Just play Falcons football….ball control, few mistakes, matriculate the ball down the field. It’s how we beat them in their remodeled bathroom of a stadium last year.

Beating the Saints Monday night would not prove ish, and the Falcons do not NEED to prove ish. The Falcons will be in the playoffs, and will probably open at the JerryDome vs. the Cowgirls. THAT is the next game that will matter for the Falcons. They may need to deal with the Saints, at their building, at a later date, in a game that matters. This one does not…Falcons in as the 5 seed whether 11-5 or 10-6. you heard it here first.

Got that feeling…….We are going to kick some Saint A$$ Monday night. It is way overdue. Defense is starting to believe. Saints will be fat and happy at home after xmas. Hopefully Peyton will pop some pills and call goofy plays.
