UPDATE:  As expected, left cornerback Brent Grimes returned to practice on Tuesday. Here’s  the story on his return. CLICK HERE!

FLOWERY BRANCH — The Falcons’ secondary could be at full strength for their matchup with Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints’ vaunted passing attack.

Starting right cornerback Brent Grimes, who has missed three games after having knee surgery, is set to return to practice on Tuesday. Also, cornerback Kelvin Hayden, the team’s top nickel back who was out with a dislocated toe, could return to practice by Thursday.

“We are hoping tomorrow to have Brent Grimes back out on the field practicing,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said on Monday. “That will be a plus. I do not know about Kelvin Hayden for tomorrow, but maybe it will happen on Thursday.”

This MNF is going to be a great one. Having Grimes and Hayden back should be a big plus. Huge one. This is how our defense should look vs. the Cants.

DE: John Abraham
DT: Jonathan Babineaux
DT: Corey Peters
DE: Ray Edwards

OLB: Mike Peterson
MLB: Curtis Lofton
OLB: Sean Weatherspoon

CB: Dominque Franks
FS: James Sanders
SS: William Moore
CB: Brent Grimes

Nickel Corner: Kelvin Hayden

Subtract DeCoud and Dunta Robinson. Those guys are liabilities in coverage.

Yeah, somebody on this blog came up with Optimus Grimes before the Lions game, and it stuck because he did pretty well against ‘ol Megatron. I don’t remember who came up with it, but I love it, and hope it sticks!

Press man coverage and blitz straight up the middle recipe for beating the saints and packers

[...] Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that cornerback Brent Grimes could be poised to return after missing the previous three games to recover from arthroscopic knee [...]

Nice lineup except, that Robinson is the better corner, his problem is he does not aggressively attack the ball. Sanders does not have much range at safety, don’t know why we pick all these small-school guys back there, every now and again there is an exception(Grimes, and sometimes he is out-played ). Need Nick back at outside, Peterson is too slow and old(Another Brookings).

Only 10 posts down to find the first Saints’ troll. Now, I challenge you to go to NOLA.com and see how far down you have to scroll to find any Falcons’ trolls. What is the deal with the Saints’ fans (losers) on this site? Have they no life? Attention: New Orleans is 6 years removed from the storm… GO BACK HOME!

The key to beating the Saints is pressuring Brees. We can do it. The Saints defense doesn’t really scare me. It’s just Brees. If we get after him, we’ll win. We need a gameplan similar to the one we had last season on MNF when they came to our house. They did win 17-14 but Brees threw 2 picks back to back, and was uncomfortable all night long. Gotta get after him. Bump n run, man to man press coverage would be the best bet. Disrupt them.

I know you CANT fans remember that Grimes interception 2 years ago where he went mid air to intercept Brees. Grimes seems to pick Brees off everytime they face off. I bet Brees thinks twice before he throws to Grimes’ side next week.

For all of you falcons fans out there. Is Grimes the same personality as Dunta Robinson? You know that Smith hasn’t said anything about Robinson’s demeaning comments about the Jaguar’s WRs. So, he must be OK with his players acting in such a low class manner. Well, Dunta payback is coming this Monday in New Orleans. Drew Brees and his stable of all Pro receivers will humble you once and for all. Who Dat.

Ben, OK, you want to debate which team is better. Let’s look at like teams we both played. We both were beat by TB early in the year. Even though we both were also beat by GB, we put up 34 on them on the road while you put up 14 at home. We beat Chicago and Houston, while you lost both of those games. We’ve won all of our home games, whild you’ve lost two at home. Oh yeah, one of those losses was to us. Nuff said.

I cant see the Pack dropping two games in a row neither. Then the Falcons slobberknock the Aint’s and we got a interesting finish to the regular season.

WhoFat1, You fat 1, listen, you also gave up 42 points to the Pack, we gave up 25. You gave up more points to the Bucs than we did. You lost to the Rams. Nuff said. Remember last season we had won all of our home games, had you guys come in on MNF to give us our first loss, sound familiar?
