Vikings plan to be ready for no-huddle attack

FLOWERY BRANCH — After the Falcons played three quarters in the no-huddle offense last week, the Vikings are getting ready for the attack.

“Oakland last week was almost all no-huddle,” Minnesota head coach Leslie Frazier said. “Green Bay started the game in the no-huddle. We’ve seen it and we know that Atlanta is a no-huddle team. We are familiar with the no-huddle offense.”

Frazier, who was interviewed for the Falcons’ head coaching job when it went to Mike Smith, is impressed with the Atlanta offense.

“They seem to have found their identity,” Frazier said. “It seemed like (earlier in the season) they weren’t sure what direction they were going. Now, it seems as if everything revolves around Michael Turner, who is an outstanding back.”

Frazier credits Ryan with making the no-huddle work.

“Matt is running that offense,” Frazier said. “The way they control tempo in that no-huddle gives a lot of teams trouble. They seem to really be finding themselves as an offensive unit.”

Frazier has been impressed with the Falcons’ linebackers.

“They are extremely active,” Frazier said. “They are playing much better than they were earlier in the season. They are running to the ball better. They are tackling better. They’ve really come on as a defensive unit.”

Thanks DLed for the earlybird report.

I don’t think it’s going to matter that the Vikings are ready for the no-huddle.

We have to get off to another fast start and set the tempo early. This is a huge opportunity for us to possibly tie The Aint’s for first place in The NFC South and with The Lions loss take their No. 6 spot in the playoff rankings.

Are we going to get a profile look at Stephen Nicholas? Would like to know how he is progressing as a full-time starter

We win this game, which we should, the Birds stand a good chance to finish on a roll and again see the play offs. Confidence is a big factor in this game. The team finally is playing with the expectation of winning.

If Mr. Leslie Frazier is telling us that if they stop Turner you stop this offense he is right. I am pretty sure Michael Jenkins have given every weak link we have as a team.

Time of possession , play action and a healthy dose of Turner = victory !!!!!

Please note that the Vikings lost to both no huddle teams mentioned by Coach Frazier.

Matt will also have the opportunity to slide protection to Jared Allen when he thinks we can hit a deep on to Roddy or Julio. Also, what makes Turner more effective in the no huddle is that Matt has more freedom to check to either a different run or to a pass. I’m still not sold on him as our RB that gets us over the hump.

Let us not forget that Baker is coming back. This mean Ryan will see more ground time on his back. I wont take jenkins telling the viking defence that Baker is our week leak on the line. with baker coming back, turner will also now only have one side to run to. that won’t be hard to defend. roddy kept his mouth shut last week, which mean he got to make up for it this week. look for roddy to run his mouth and draw flags away from the play. he will also drop a few balls because when julio is back, roddy can’t seem to focus on playing football above a third string level. hopefully bryank leg feel strong, because we not doing so well in the red zone scoring touchdowns. this game going to be won and lost by the kickers.

one more thing, the game wouldnt be complete without dunta throwing a cheap shot. now that his idol Suh show him how to get thrown out the game, dunta will have to show Suh he know how to be thrown out of a game too, which in the case of the falcon, would actually be a good thing. dunta is like a knat flying around out there. he is quite annoying, but nobody really affraid of you.

Dled, sounds like the Vikes will have a couple surprises of their own.

Hopefully, we will start using more screen plays…so we don’t become too predictable with our play calling…No huddle or not…We have to stay committed to the run game…I would like to see us take the ball and shove it down teams throat…when get the ball inside the red zone.

Dunta has made some hard hits that some of us think were legal. Regardless, they were not cheap. He did not stomp someone who was down. there was no excessive after the play hits. He may have won the game against Philly because I believe Macklin heard foot steps when he drop the ball. Dunta needs to keep playing hard. Suh does not get it!!!

Amazing video of a high school senior from Columbia TN who kicks the ball dead straight 75-80 yards in the air. He was successful on 54 of 54 attempts this season….100%. Now he needs a college team.

Watch for yourself…it is unreal!

@JMF I agree. Robinson is just a very physical player. Suh is just plain dirty and the sad part is that he tries to make it seem as if he’s such a stand up guy on the field. I know the game is a battle each play but its a thin line between being physical and playing dirty. That was clearly a stomp.

We should win Sunday as long as we come out fast and wear them down. This is gonna determine what happens at LT also. If Svitek can hold Allen off, we may have our guy at that spot for the rest of the season. Baker will find a job elsewhere. Linemen usually catch on elsewhere.

And yes….you Aints fans are gettin’ pretty old.lol Do you have a blog in your newspapers for the Aints? If so, thats where you need to be. We all know had Katrina not come through, your team would still be garbage. I think of all the victims and my heart goes out to them. Many came here and we embraced them. Why? B/c maybe just maybe we have a little more class than you guys.

JJ’s back! Mularky please don’t force it to him facing deep coverage. Run the ball, pass off the run: work play action. get up big, and get every player of worth off the field.
Oh yeah, before you do all of that, resign.
VanGo please play more aggressively on defense. Tampa 2 , jam off the line, don’t play so much zone.

This is the part of the schedule where we can make up some ground and work on securing a playoff spot. Vikings (no Peterson), @ Houston (no Schaub), @ Carolina (beat them already), vs. Jacksonville (weak offense, rookie QB). We’ll need to keep the Vikings’ front four away from Ryan and make Ponder uncomfortable as well. If we do that and get a good game from Turner, we win easily. Falcons 30, Minnesota 12.

This isn’t a team we should overlook. Our secondary is banged up, and Ponder is talented. The replacement running back has averaged almost 5 yards per carry in limited action. (Heisman runner-up from Stanford). Good teams take care of business. Let’s do it, Birds.
