The Falcons and the Titans have beaten just one team with a winning record this season.

The Titans beat Baltimore 26-13 on Sept. 18. The Falcons beat Detroit  23-16 on Oct 23. Baltimore and Detroit are 6-3.

The combined record of the Titans’ victims — Baltimore, Denver, Cleveland, Indianapolis, and Carolina – is 15-31 (.326). The combined record of the Falcons’ victims — Detroit, Philadelphia, Seattle, Carolina and Indianapolis – is 14-32 (.304).

“It’s going to be hard to beat a team in Atlanta that needs to win as bad as we do,” said Tennessee coach Mike Munchak to the Nashville media on Monday.

The Titans are coming off a 30-3 win over Carolina. Running back Chris Johnson broke loose for a season-high 130 yards against the Panthers.

Lose this game, and you can stick a fork in the Falcons’ playoff hopes.

11 – 5 record may get them into the playoffs, 12 – 4, definitely will.

10 – 6, you’re home watching. Too many better teams.

Falcons can still rally. either the cowboys or giants will implode. looks like a wild card spot. remember the packers last year, it’s not the team with the best record going into the playoffs, but the team who is peaking at the right time.

we have wasted a lot of money on Ray Edwards and d. robinson, we need to cut both them and find people with potential.Peria Jerry is another wasted pick.

homest-abe; you are right on. we need a whole new defensive unit. Abraham and bierman use to make a few plays, but they to have fallen off the radar.

Birds are pretty much done anyways. They have to almost run the table without much wiggle room to make the playoffs. Oh well, just another season of a sports fan in the ATL.

Stopping the run is the defenses forte, It’s the new fangled forward pass they have trouble with. I think they can contain Johnson. Smith’s teams usually play well coming off of losses.

Two of those losses could have gone into the win column….Bucs & Saints

Finally sinking in Snarky Central? Your victories have come over teams with a .304 winning percentage! 1-5 in your last 6 games against teams with a record over .500, that’s the Falcons record… Something has to change, a veteran QB with a running back capable of putting up huge numbers at the drop of the hat… This might be the real trap game (not the Colts or the Vikings)…

SimpleDawg is right. 10-6 and we’re last year’s Bucs. The good thing though is that Mularkey and BVG may finally be gone. Offensively, we’re a laughingstock b/c we have all this talent and decided to dub ourselves the next greatest show on turf. We can’t even score TDs and settle for kicks. That goes back to who’s responsible for the offense. Good OC for a rebuilding team, not for one trying to sustain a winning culture. Look at his track record, 3 years and his offense is done. Defensively, I dont think I have enough space. Robinson’s been a HUGE disappointment. I wanted him too when he was a free agent but I see so many DBs playing better and not slipping. ONE INT over 20+ games is TRASH. It could be the scheme though b/c he’s a much better man to man corner vs this garbage zone scheme we run. Jerry isnt nearly what they expected. TD has honestly whiffed on a lot of his draft picks and free agents. I’ll say it for those who act like they’re afraid to do so. Should be an interesting 2nd half of the season from here on out.

Falcons should not worry too much about the Titans. They are now running thru their typical average season. The coach is nothing more than somebody’s “pet zombie” that got loose. Chris Johnson signed his $53M contract and has now layed down. He is following in the footsteps of his idol, Albert Haynesworth. That game last week was just an anomaly for Chris Johnson. An average rushing defense will stop him cold. Blow on him now and he falls over.

I have lost confidence in the birds, need to start planning the future since there’s No 1st round pick next year maybe trade R. White for 2 picks, looking into retooling the whole defence and while at it draft a more than caple backup QB Preferably the 28yrs from OKS, OC & DC would also be a priority.

Opening Bell in Sunday’s Titans Game ;
1st and 10 > Turner up the middle—–1 yd. gain
2nd and 9 > a whistle blows ! —-False Start, Atlanta, 5 yd penalty, repeat 2nd down
2nd and 14 > Ryan back to pass to White………….ohhhhhh, he dropped it !
3rd and 14 > Ryan back to pass,…..dumps off to Turner, ohh they wrap him up
4th down 7 > Atlanta lines up to Punt

If Atlanta can contain the Titans’ screen pass to Johnson they stand a good chance of winning this game.

With Jones out (again!) I think White will get it together and have a good game.

If Atlanta flops the rest of the Season and they change management I sure did wish Mr. Blank would find the Time to talk to John Gruden about a Coaching Job in Atlanta but he probably likes it on Monday Night Football.

More than likely we will get another Season Session of Coach Smitty and Van Gorder and MM.
That’s some bad medicine to have to swallow in 2012 !

It’s the Falcons Offense that need to get on fire……

SC04, the net yards come from the Falcons throwing the ball FAR FAR too much (52 attempts last week). Matt Ryan is not capable of winning a game on his own if the game plan is built around him. He’s proven it. The Falcons have a very difficult time coming from behind. He is a fantastic 2 minute offense QB. He’s terrific in the no huddle. The OL can’t pass protect long enough for deep routes, and he’s not accurate or strong enough to hit them. Just like last year, this is a RUNNING team. when they run, and throw off play action they win. Matt Ryan is simply not going to be anything more than a game manager, but he can be one of the best game managers in the game if he’s got a great running game. His skill set will never be that of a down field playmaker. All that would be fine if our secondary and pass rush were any good. Unfortunately the pass rush and secondary are awful.

We’re not firing anyone people. The coaches we have are good coaches. The team simply has to execute better. The coaching staff just has to get back to tailoring the offense around what they can do instead of what they can’t.

I have a suggestion for all of you haters that get on this board, gripe and demand everyone down to the groundskeeper get fired every week:

Go. Cheer. For. Another. Team.

But of course, after we win 27-13 on Sunday you’ll all be back on the bandwagon. They’re not going to win every week. No one in the NFL has done that since 1972. Grow up and deal with it.

What a pitiful excuse for fans we have in Atlanta. I have been a Falcons fan from day one, I have lived and died with them thru all the LOSING seasons we had and all the coaching changes by the Smith family, remember Marion Campbell, great guy but not a head coach. We finally have a group leading this organization that at least seem to know what they are doing not like Eddie LeBaron who fired one of the best coaches we ever had, Leeman Bennett, because he had taken us to a Plateau and we needed to go further, yeah next year they went right off a cliff . Here we are with the Falcons working on a 4th straight winning season with the best QB we have had since Bartkowski with a chance to make the playoffs for the 3rd time in 4 years and you people are Bi–chn! I dont believe it. Sure they are not the Patriots yet, but who is. I am extremely happy with the impovement of the team. They should have beaten the Saints sunday. Do they need to improve in certain areas, yeah but for the first time since maybe the Super Bowl season i feel like they have a chance to win every time they take the field. This is the first post i have ever done on one of these blogs and i am sure thay some of you who spend all your time at this will rip me apart but to that i say GET A LIFE!

Hold everything, there’s a penalty on the play—–unsportsmanlike conduct , Roddy White 15 yard penalty,repeat 2nd down!
2 nd and 20 on Atlanta’s 23 yard line…Ryan back to pass,….rolling to the right…rolling…caught!
Pass caught by Gonzales for 12 yards !

Two dropped passes, one at the end of Sunday’s game in the 4th qt. with seconds left of the clock, the WR catches it instead of letting it go through his hands, the Falcons win and are 6-3. The second dropped pass near the end of the Tampa game, the same WR turns to look at the goal line, a couple of yards away, instead of catching the ball first, lets the ball hit him in the hands and drop to the turf, misses a sure TD and a probable win, the Falcons would now be 7-2.
The WR needs to get his act together, now.

I’ve gone though some tuff years with the falcons but if you are a true fan you will stick with them no matter what. I’ve got front row end zone seats and it makes me so made when the people around me sell their tickets to the other team fans. We all that are falcons fans need to rise up and support our birds. Remaining Schedule (5-4)

Tenn: Win
Vikes: Win
Houston: Win (If schuab played they would have lost)
Carolina: Win
Jacksonville: win
Saints: Toss up: Loss
Bucs: Win

the Falcons have an easy schedule.
They could easily go 7-0 or 6-1… 12-4 or 11-5 will make playoffs
At worse they will go 5-2: 10-6: might make playoffs

Bears have 2 tough games coming up (Chargers, GB).. They could easily go 11-5 or 12-4

Lions still have 4 tough games (twice GB, SD, NO and even Oakland).. They will finish 10-6.

Giants and Cowboys: the Giants play the Cowboys twice. I think only one will make the playoffs.

I agree with you…………..if they only knew how tough it was watching em lose game after game after game during the Owner Smith years. A lot of em just don’t realize it takes a few years to build a true championship caliber team. You know New England was a true loser before they built that powerhouse team which has declined a little this year but even the Saints were losers also before they got a real coach and built a team too. Even Green Bay….they took a couple years to rebuild their organization to get to where they are today.

All I ever hear is Fire him or get rid of that guy in these blogs but you can’t keep doing that and WIN !
You will restart from scratch and just take steps backwards instead of steps forward. The only way to get to the top is through sacrifice and learning to bear with it until things are right.

I say they need to stay the Course for a couple more years at least and see what happens. Sure you will make mistakes and lose games but you learn from them and know what not to do the next time moving forward.
