The hype surrounding Saturday’s college football showdown between No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama made its way into the Falcons locker room.
Center Todd McClure (LSU) and quarterback John Parker Wilson (Alabama) stood toe-to-toe Wednesday defending their alma maters.
“We can pick any 22 guys to go out and play against this Alabama team, it doesn’t matter,” McClure said. “They could put all the names in a hat, draw out 11 and throw them on the field.”
Parker Wilson predicted a double-digit win by host Alabama. McClure predicted a seven-point LSU win.
“It’s going to be a close game,” McClure said. “We are going to leave your fans in there for awhile so they can buy some more popcorn and Cokes.
Friendly wagers will be made although the details have yet to be finalized. Wide receiver Julio Jones (Alabama) said he is “taking all bets.”
The players will miss most of the 8 p.m. start in team meetings in preparation for Sunday’s game against the Colts. They hope to catch the final quarter.
