FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons starting left tackle Sam Baker (lower back injury) returned to practice and was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game with the Detroit Lions.

Baker did not practice on Wednesday and Thursday.

Cornerback Christopher Owens (concussion)  was declared out for the Lions’ game. Wide receiver Julio Jones did not practice, but was declared doubtful.

If Baker is not ready to play, Will Svitek would get the start.

John Abraham (groin), Todd McClure (knee) and Garrett Reynolds (ankle) were limited in practice and listed as questionable for the game.

James Sanders (hamstring), Jonathan Babineaux (knee), Tony Gonzalez (elbow) and Roddy White (knee) all fully participated in practice and were listed as probable.

Well Owens being out is never a bad thing. I don’t know why he’s our starting nickel anyway. He stinks. I really hope Baker can play because he’s really improved recently.

SeenThisBFalcon you’re right we need Baker for the run game, that’s when he earns his money well. Pretty much anytime Turner breaks a nice run, it’s most likely to Bakers side.

@ hiramsiant

You finally resurface 5 days after your team’s pathetic loss in Tampa with the pick machine Drew Brees tossing 3 more picks. How that turnover machine continue to garner accolades is beyond me. By the way didn’t your starting center quit today because he was “tired of football”? If you think that won’t hurt, think again. The Falcons have struggled when McClure has been out of the lineup. Don’t worry I’m sure ‘cool Brees” will be able to handle more pressure. After all how many more interceptions can he throw?

D-Led, you talk to Falcon players. Please tell Sam Baler for me that he is a garbage LT in the NFL. Never shows up every week and gets abused countless times during a game. Matt Ryan will have a short career with him over there.

Hey, Sam Baker helped Ryan win rookie of the year. Sam Baker has been a key reason why we’ve had 3 straight winning seasons for the first time in franchise history. No other LT can say that. :)

Einstein

No other FALCON left tackle can say that I mean. No other Falcon QB, RB, LT, WR, DE, etc can say that they led the falcons to back to back winning seasons except for this bunch of men right here. And Ryan WILL win us a ring before his playing days are over.

I want to see little Grimes cover Calvin Johnson. Who is 6′5″ and Grimes with heels on is 5′ 10″. Johnson’s vetical jump is 45 “. So I guess Grimes is going to vertical jump 52″ to be as high as Johnson. This will be something to see!!!!!!!!!!!

All the pros on ESPN rank Andre Johnson as one of the top 5 wide receivers in the league. That puts him ahead of J. Jones. Andre Johnson has been out with a hamstring since Oct. 2 (3 Sundays) and is declared “Out” against the Titans this Sunday. Hamstrings take a long time to heal, especially when the person with the pulled hamstring pulled it because of always trying to run fast. Mike Smith is playing some kind of girls game with the injury list. He thinks the girls at Detroit will arrange their defense as if JJ was going to play, when the reality is everyone knows he won’t. If he does, he will be out 6 weeks repulling it.

We need a head coach with a set of cojones.

You forget that Ryan has a winning record vs. the Bears and the Bucs.

________________________________________________________________________________

From your post it’s clear you have fallen down a lot and mostly on your head. The three picks against the Bucs was not an isolated anomaly. Brees has been picked off 30 times in the last 22 games. By comparison Ryan has thrown 15 in the same number of games. Ryan is clearly not yet an elite QB and he may never be one but he has plenty of company and that includes the most over rated QB in the NFL, Drew Brees.

Oh I forgot the good news. Brees is not alone for the most interceptions since the beginning of the 2010 season. Eli Manning also has 30 so at least you can take a little solace in the fact that Brees is not the clear cut worst QB in the NFL when it comes to protecting the football.
