FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons (2-2) will be without center Todd McClure and defensive end John Abraham and defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux are questionable for the game against the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers (4-0) at 8:20 p.m. Sunday at the Georgia Dome.

McClure was declared “out” on the team’s injury report submitted to the league on Friday. Abraham suffered a hip injury and Babineaux, who is recovering from a partially torn MCL in his left knee, were limited in practice.

McClure, who had knee surgery on Aug. 29, had his franchise-record streak of 144 consecutive starts snapped when he didn’t play against Chicago in the season-opener. He started in the third game of the season against Tampa Bay and last week against Seattle, but aggravated the knee and had to give way to second-year man Joe Hawley.

Hawley was solid in his two starts against Chicago and Philadelphia. Also, center-guard Brett Romberg, who played against Philadelphia, is available. He’s been inactive for the last two games.

McClure and defensive end Cliff Matthews (knee) did not practice.

The Falcons’ pass rush will be hurt if Abraham and Babineaux don’t play. Abraham leads the team with two sacks. The defense has not registered a sack in the three games that Babineaux has missed.

The other players listed on the injury report were full participants in practice and are listed as “probable.” That group includes: Wide receiver Roddy White (thigh), tight end Michael Palmer (ankle), safety William Moore (neck), cornerback Christopher Owens (ankle), linebacker Stephen Nicholas (calf) and running back Jason Snelling (concussion).

GREEN BAY’S INJURY REPORT

With right tackl Bryan Bulaga out with a knee injury, Marshall Newhouse will start at right tackle for the Packers. The Falcons should have an advantage with Ray Edwards, Kroy Biermann or Lawrence Sidbury on Newhouse. With Abraham questionable, Sidbury has to be view as the No. 3 end.

Also, linebacker Clay Matthews has not practiced all week with a quadriceps injury, but is expected to play. Right tackle Tyson Clabo should have the advantage.

Bryan Bulaga, T Knee  Did Not Participate — Out

Chad Clifton, T Knee  Did Not Participate — Probable

Nick Collins, S Neck –  Out

Donald Driver, WR Shin Limited Participation — Probable

Ryan Grant, RB Kidney Full Participation — Probable

Brad Jones, LB Hamstring Did Not Participate — Questionable

Jamari Lattimore, LB Shoulder Limited Participation — Probable

Pat Lee, CB Back Limited Limited Participation — Probable

Clay Matthews, LB Quadricep  Did Not Participate — Probable

Mike Neal, DE Knee – Out

Andrew Quarless, TE Knee Did Not Participate — Doubtful

Ryan Taylor, TE Shoulder Full Participation — Probable

Tramon Williams, CB Shoulder Limited Participation — Probable

Charles Woodson, CB Foot / Knee Limited Participation — Probable

THE PACKERS WILL GET SENT PACKING THEIR GREEN GAY SWISS CHEESE A$$ HOME.

[...]  Shocking, I know, but it is not that easy.  First, our line has to block.  We are already short Todd McClure, but he has always had trouble with the bigger 3-4 nose tackles.  Hopefully Joe Hawley can show [...]

The only real question about the outcome of this game will be whether or not Green Bay can better their margin of victory from the January game.

Dream on homer girls…..Matthews and Woodson will be 110%…they just don’t practice many weeks. They did that all last year too. This will be another brutal beatdown for the birdies……The Packers will put together their first complete game of the year tomorrow. Enjoy!!!

Sadly for Packers fans they’ve come up short against Ryan. Another beating on the way. 3-1.

Do you actually believe that Ryan is anything more than average? You are delusional. You will see one great QB tomorrow and he will be wearing green and gold. Not even close…..

“Be honest..Matt Ryan may be the most “Over hyped” Quarterback since Alex Smith or David Carr.
Matt Ryans’ lack of decision making and athleticism makes him a liability against playoff teams.
The defense, or lack thereof, are average at best. Sometimes players with big hearts and solid
determination can override talent.”

Interesting observation!
Melts starting to remind of, dont do it CGD! How bout Tony Romo?… OH no……..lol

Tash talking is dead. Endzone celebrations, dead. Big hits on WRS, dead. Kick Offs, dead. Accidentally touch a QBs head = 15 yard penalty. AND if u do get away with something they fine you monday morning.

What fun is that?
I already miss football.

oh my gosh, if the Birds don’t have all of their best defenders this will be over early. ATL is going to need to be nearly perfect.

Is Mularky listed as Questionable? Hope so, because our back up OC (Matt Ryan) calling plays is our only chance at even having a whisper at winning this game. Hold on to your hats bird-fans, this one could get ugly. Complete ineptitude at coordinator scheme/game plan, plus No Center (Hauly’s a joke), No pass rush (Abraham out, Edwards a non-factor), equals a quiet night at the dome my friends. Hang in there, next week will be better.

If T. Jackson can throw for 320 yds & 3 tds then A.Rodgers will throw for 500 yards & 5 tds. After watching Green Bay dismantle Falcons with passing you would think that Blank & Smith would have overhauled the DB’s ? But no, its the same porous players. GB 35 ATL 17

This game is Brian Van Gorder’s job. If the defense can play with them, he gets to keep it. If they can’t….. we’ve all seen enough of this scheme.

Woodson will be fine, he doesn’t practice much these days even if he’s 110%. Matthews quad injury is concerning, but he’s been playing through various nagging injuries much of his career. Not too worried about Newhouse, he’s got the talent, just needs more game experience. Yeah, he’s no Bulaga, but it’s not like this Falcons D line is the Vikings D line of recent years either. Newhouse will be okay against Edwards. Just hope the aging Clifton doesn’t go down, because then we’ll really be in a tough place with having to put Sherrod in there. Having Grant and Starks both back there should help the O line some too.

This could be the game that defines the Falcons’ season. Either as the game that turns a corner and saves the season or the game that establishes that there is STILL a ways to go before this team ever sniffs another Superbowl.

Seeing the “Dream Team(s)” in Philadelphia collapse definitely helps to soften the blow if the Falcons lose tonight, but right now the Packers look to easily be the best team in the NFC. Gotta go through them most likely to ever have a chance, and if tonight is not at least a close game, it ain’t gonna be come January either (assuming the Falcons get that far, which I don’t as things stand currently). Tonight is Statement Night for the Atlanta Falcons. Declare your intent and capability to win a championship or slip quietly back into mediocrity.
