FLOWERY BRANCH  – Falcons cornerback Kelvin Hayden has quickly recovered from a hamstring injury and returned to practice on Thursday.

The Falcons (1-2) are hoping that Hayden will be available to play against the Seattle Seahawks (1-2) at 4:05 p.m. Sunday at CenturyLink Field.

“Kelvin did a real good job with our athletic performance department and the trainers to get back out here,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said. “We thought it might be a little bit longer than a couple of weeks. Hopefully, there won’t be a [setback] and [Friday] he can continue on his road to recovery.”

Hayden, the former Indianapolis Colts star, signed a one-year contract with the Falcons on Aug. 30. He was injured in the Philadelphia game after registering two tackles and making an interception. He felt a twinge in his hamstring while coming on a blitz from his nickel back spot.

Hayden was inactive last week against Tampa Bay. He was limited in practice.

“I didn’t feel like I had any setbacks,” Hayden said. “I’m ready to put it behind me and move forward.”

In six seasons with the Colts, Hayden compiled 298 tackles, 37 passes defensed, nine interceptions, four forced fumbles and three touchdowns.

Hayden is remembered in Colts’ lore for his 56-yard interception return for a touchdown against Chicago in Super Bowl XLI, which gave the Colts a 29-17 fourth-quarter lead, the game’s final margin.

The Falcon’s zone scheme is obviously too complex for DeCoud and Owens. Grimes needs to know someone has his back when he gambles and Danta needs help all the time so, yeah, welcome back Hayden!

Someone, please tell me why we play so much zone defense? Why don’t we play more man coverage so we can rush more than 4 consistently? Cutler had too much time as did Freeman. Say what you want about Vick, but in spite of 3 t

The problem with the Falcons right now is their offensive line and their offensive coordinator! The defense showed up and played well against a quality opponent, in the division, on the road. The offense is vanilla and doesn’t take advantage of matchups ever. One of the main reasons the no huddle is working is because Matt is going to call plays he is comfortable with. The second reason is because occasionally a no huddle will cause a match up problem for the defense. It forces the defense to play you with specific personnel on the field. This is what the OC is supposed to do during the week of prep up to game day, on every play and during half time adjustments. It is so sad that we can have JJ in a 1:1 match and not exploit that matchup or RW or TG. TG and RW can consistently beat some of the quality CB and LB in the league. Why isn’t our offense predicated on exploiting match ups? Why have an offense that takes what the defense gives you? We need to stop waiting for the defense to make mistakes and force them to do so. Do you think it was an accident that Green Bay picked on Chris Owens so much last year? No because they saw a matchup that they could exploit so they did. Football is a game of matchups and it is time for MM to realize that. The offense isn’t bad because of the players but because we don’t allow our best players to make plays every down. There is a reason that the Patriots, Green Bay, and Saints score a lot of points…. BECAUSE THEY TRY TO!!!! They try and score every series and almost every play. They have an attack mentality and they are going to do their best to drop 40+ points on you every week. MM says he doesn’t know what aggressive means… that is obvious. It’s time to step up to the next level or retract this explosive offense (comment) we still haven’t seen except on two plays all year. The OL needs to just get tough and smash the DL in the chest! I’m going to the game this weekend and I hope our team shows up too, because the Hawks aren’t good but they will Forrest Gump their way into a win if the Falcons allow them to. Good luck MM and GO Falcons!!!

Falcons need to get back to their identity and run the football. They are not an explosive team. I don’t think we have the line to be explosive. Go back to what works and ground and pound.

I was looking at 3-0 teams with their so- called swagger bragging on television…..you know I never head no bragging when Atlanta was winning games last year….they just went out there and took care of business and won the games !
Middle of Season gets here, I wonder if the 3-0 teams will be bragging after they play a few good Teams in their upcoming schedules . I think their records may do a flip-flop .

Sit him this week. Our defense actually played their best game of the season last week against Tampa and he wasn’t in the lineup. Well Seattle isn’t as tough as Tampa and we should be able to win without him. Not saying we don’t need him, but we’re definitely going to need him vs. Green Bay. Don’t want to risk him getting injured against Seattle and then not being able to play vs. GB and having Owens back in there for Rodgers to pick on AGAIN

Now that the NIGHTMARE is over…and they deserved their fate.

Chokeahontas indeed…10 inning to score one run and you crap your pants.

One observation that also may have cost us a run. With Uggla on second and the flair single to right to Pence, check the video on the hit, my man Uggla did not bust it from second base, he kinda jogged and did not kick into another gear until he was half way down third base line…check it out!

Of course, Bourne was safe at third and should have been a 3 run homer by Uggla earlier in the game. 10 innings later still no more runs, so their is enough blame to go around, especially from managerial standpoint.

Time to DREAM…there are over 370 comments on here about the SAD SACK Braves…but it is over and frankly they did not deserve to go to the playoffs. Who really believes they would have beaten the Cardinals today after playing past midnight with a 3:30pm game today…really!

So I say we take it to the court, the WNBA court, and support the…Atlanta Dream!! They are in their 2nd consecutive WNBA FINALS, in only their 4 year of existence. Yes I will be there. Go take your frustration out on the Minnesota Lynx.

The NIGHTMARE is over…LET’S GO DREAM!

Seattle’s offense isn’t capable of putting up 31 points. They’ve only scored 30 points in 3 games. They average only 10 points a game.

Nothing is wrong with that line. Dahl was only good in the run game. The issue is this a copycat league and teams have figured out Matt Ryan does not have the arm strength to go deep so they will fill the box up and wait underneath for those short routes. If he does get a pass off it will be a floater like the one he threw to Julio. Trust me the defense coordinators have looked at every play and they know after about 35 yds ole Matty is no good. So will we be playing in the redzone from our own 20 yd line.

@ Dukester, you just might be on to something, that ball was hanging in the air a long time. That would have been a touchdown with 90% of the QB’s in this league.

You can keep Owens on the field if your want, he makes HOFs out of many QBs. I’ll take Hayden at 75% rather than 110% Owens. The guy has no clue. Remind you of anyone? (DeAngelo Hall)
