TAMPA — Starting strongside linebacker Stephen Nicholas, who suffered a calf injury and was listed on the Friday injury report as questionable, has been declared inactive for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Nicholas had played in the last 58-straight regular-season games.  He was last inactive against San Francisco on Nov. 4, 2007, during his rookie season.

Mike Peterson, who started at weakside linebacker in 29 of  32 games over the last two seasons, will take over for Nicholas. Peterson played on special teams in the first two games of the season.

Also, the Falcons will also be with cornerback Kelvin Hayden, who suffered a hamstring injury against Philadelphia. Other inactives include: cornerback Darrin Walls, center Brett Romberg, guard Mike Johnson, defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux and defensvie end Cliff Matthews.

Well that’s not good. But Peterson is more than capable of playing well at OLB. At least we’re not sticking a player in there that has no experience. This is why depth is so crucial. One player gets hurt, another one just as good steps in and there’s no drop off.

The only thing that worries me is that Peterson is older, and he may not be able to cover as well as Nicholas might have. But we’ll be fine. One more hour till kickoff!

GO FALCONS!

Oh and, HIRAMSAINT, and SEENTHISB4, where are you?! Houston is kicking that tail!

Einstein be a man and apologize to Hiram and Seen. Their team won and ours lost. We need to make changes on this team if we want to even make the playoffs. Unbelievable we lost this game on a penalty.

Oh well, at least we see it early. This is not a playoff team. We can start doing other things on Sunday now.

Thomas Dimitroff has an incredible amount of explaining to do as to why he decided…. THIS was the team to roll with.

They can’t defend screens or 5 yard outs on defense. They fall for the oldest tricks in the book Corey Peters and the offense is more dinosaur now than it EVER was under Reeves.

This is the ugliest offense in the NFL outside of maybe Minnesota.

Rodneys drop was huge in the 4th in the “red zone” all alone out there in the Flats.. It cost the Fal-cons @ the end…

Tampa Bay is no Joke! They are pretty good to be youngest NFL squad…

Again…the playcalling was a joke….Mularky just isn’t very exciting or daring in his play calling…now, begs the question…is Smith so conservative that he will not allow Mularky the latitude to open up the offense or is Mularky so far behind other O coordinators that he doesn’t see a need to change things up and work on things that we haven’t seen in his tenure here. Whichever it is…something has to give….these are the same plays the Falcons were running 4 yrs ago. No innovation, still stuck in schemes that bring the entire defense close to the middle of the formations….watch GB or NO and they do just the opposite…they spread the field and the defense…they always have a receiver dragging under for the QB to drop it off to if nothing opens down field. And this O line is the worst line we’ve seen in 5 yrs. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look they’ll win next week. Seattle is horrible.

But they will almost certainly lose to the Packers, which would make them 2-3 with 3 NFC losses.

This team isn’t a playoff team. If that’s the case, not having a 1st round pick is going to be a huge problem (considering we’ve blown that pick so often maybe not)

But 4 years in a row of no playoff wins….. if that’s the case I think a lot of positions need to be rethought, including QB.

Ryan is the worst QB in the NFC south. He is a multii-million dollar mistake that will only get us 16 regular season games. He sucks and I am sick f hearing excuses for him. He has tons of weapons but cannot use them.

WOW!

Didn’t see this coming did you? this team is going to make last year’s 13-3 look like the fluke it was, all they need to do is keep on playing like this. The good news is, Arthur Blank was there and didn’t look any too pleased.

If I’m Mike Mularkey, I’m putting my resume in order. All the money and draft choices that’ve been laid out on the offense with performances like this?????
